Lily hung up the phone directly.
I was furious. What kind of person does that?!
I had usuallybeen too indulgent with her. We had agreed to take turns cleaning the shared spaces, but in reality, I ended up doing most of it because I liked cleanliness.
I never argued with her about any of it.
Instead, I’d spoiled her and she ended up developing bad habits.
She even told me to move out? Why should I?
But this time,I had enough. People like her don't know how to be grateful and will only push their luck.
So I called the landlord on video, straight away.
In less than an hour,Lily came back obediently and started cleaning,while talking on the phone with her boyfriend.
“What are you, a kindergarten kid? You’re tattling now? So annoying!”
“She's probably just jealous that I have a boyfriend because she's too old and no man wants her.Honey,do you think such a person is a psychopath?”
“I'm so scared to live with a psychopath.Honey,you have to come and accompany me often.”
Lily was talking and laughing loudly.She was clearly saying these things on purpose for me to hear.
When she called me a psychopath,I really wanted to rush out and argue with her,but I held back.
I didn't want to blow things out of proportion. After all,we lived under the same roof and would see each other often.We were both working people,and it wasn't easy to find a suitable place to live.
I thought that if I swallowed my anger,everything would be fine,but the situation became more and more out of control.
Tom came over every now and then,especially when Lily was off work.They would sleep soundly at home during the day and then be full of energy at night,making a lot of noise.
It was so noisy that I couldn't fall asleep,so I had to knock on their door again to remind them to keep it down.
Lily jerked her clothes on hard and shot me a look with pure disgust,“What are you doing?Are you done?You keep knocking and knocking. Do you want to watch a live show?”
“Don't flatter yourself, okay? Nobody wants to see a flat chest and those enoki mushrooms. You're just keeping me from sleeping!”
Since we had already had a falling-out,I didn't need to be polite anymore.
Didn't they know how much noise they were making?It was as if I was eager to watch them.
I’d rather watch“The Animal World”than this pathetic show!
“You bitch,what did you say?”Tom snapped like a cat with its tail stepped on.
“Honey,don't be angry.Why are you bothering with this old woman that no man wants?She's just jealous because we're having such a good time and she can't stand it,”said Lily with a laugh.
It made me seem like I was some kind of pervert.
And she kept sarcastically calling me an“old woman”.
I'm 27 — just three years older than her.
How could I be an old woman?
I laughed,“You should really take a good look in the mirror. That sallowed skin, saggy cheeks and eye bags down to your chin? You look away older than me. Maybe try sleeping at night before you age yourself into a raisin.”
Lily had an irregular schedule for a long time,and her skin condition was much worse than mine.You couldn't tell when she had makeup on,but now without makeup,she looked like a ghost.
And she still had the nerve to laugh at me?
Where did she get the confidence?
But I was only being tough on the surface.I was actually still nervous inside.After all,there were two of them.If they really got angry and started a fight,I couldn't beat them.
No point in picking a fight I couldn’t win—better to walk away..
After I finished speaking,I turned around and left.
I closed the door and locked it.
But this couldn't go on like this. Having a man constantly coming and going was just too disruptive.
I had planned to talk things out with Lily, but instead, she went ahead and let Tom move in permanently.
When I tried to protest, she just accused me of being jealous.
She always said the same thing,“If you can't stand it,then move out.”Or,“If you are so capable, go live in a villa — no one will bother you there.”
