“Nathan, are you here to pick up Ethan?”
Seeing Nathan’s gaze on me,she swallowed hard and explained nervously:
“This is my best friend,a lying vixen trying to seduce Ethan.”
“I’ll drive her away right away—she won’t bother you.”
Ethan, also smiling and went to greet Nathan at this moment.
Ethan was really terrified of his brother.

Nathan was traditional—if he knew Ethan was juggling a main wife and mistress,he’d discipline him. So Ethan rushed to distance himself, trying to shoo me away.

The man who had always been cold and self-restrained squatted down and knelt down on one knee at my feet to tie my shoelaces. “Why are you so careless? .What if you fell?”His voice was warm, magnetic.
I shyly pulled my foot back,tugging him up.”We’re in public—what are you doing?Get up!”
Nathan’s expression didn’t shift,as if discussing a multimillion-dollar deal.”Tying your shoelace is a big deal.”
Sophie’s jaw dropped.”You…you…”
Nathan’s cold gaze swept over her,frowning.”Who are you to point at my fiancée?”
“Don’t you remember me?We met at a gala last time.”
Meeting Nathan’s cold stare,Sophie shrank behind Ethan like a quail.
Nathan’s gaze scanned Ethan and Sophie,his voice frigid:
“This is your first offense.Since you’re my brother,I’ll forgive your disrespect to Claire for not knowing her identity.But remember, you only have this one chance.If I catch you bullying my fiancée or my child again,I’ll make sure Mom and Dad never find you.”
His predatory stare sent chills through everyone, it was as if they had stepped into the territory of the king of beasts, feeling a sense of oppression and a chill down the back of their necks.
That night, Nathan took me to the Sterling family estate to meet his parents formally.
Mrs.Sterling clasped my hands warmly and nodded approvingly.
“Nathan’s told me about you.Seeing you today,you’re as lovely as he said.”
She tried to slip her jade bracelet onto my wrist.
Nathan nodded with a smile,so I accepted graciously.
Sophie, who had nothing, was green with envy, ignoring Ethan’s protests. she opened her mouth and said, “Mom, since Claire has a gift, what about mine?”
Ethan had introduced Sophie to the family before.
Mrs.Sterling had always been nice to her before I came, but she had never been so generous as to directly give away the bracelet on her wrist. Now that she saw I had a gift and she didn’t, her sense of competition welled up again, and she directly asked for one.
But this petty behavior made Mrs. Sterling roll her eyes.
“Mary, fetching the pearl necklace from my cabinet to me.”

All eyes turned to her.Flustered,she stammered,”But Claire’s baby is Ethan’s.”
