Tom,initially stunned,snapped back,pointing at Jane’s belly:
“Who says that kid’s mine? She’s cheating while pregnant—I want a test! The Harris bloodline won’t be tainted by anyone!”
When the doctor arrived,Jane had already fainted. After checking, the doctor shook their head.Mark and Tom collapsed, neither sure who the father was.
We were all taken to the police station.I presented my video, an undeniable proof of Mark’s infidelity. He was detained, and his boss was told about this.Within days,he would likely be fired.
With the case file in hand, I headed to a law firm at dawn to file for divorce.
When Mark was released,I arranged for Tom’s family to be there.
Mark, seeing Jane’s haggard state, moved to comfort her but stopped upon spotting Tom.He glared at Tom before approaching me.
“Honey,I messed up...”He reached to hug me.
I didn’t accept his hug and handed him a lawyers letter instead.
“Sorry,I’ve formally filed for divorce.”
Mark was stunned. He never imagined that his wife who once adored him so much would divorce him so decisively.
Tom,enjoying the chaos,shoved Jane forward,mocking:
“What’s this, buddy?Sleeping with someone else and now losing your wife?Want my cheating woman instead?”
Mark’s face flushed, and he tried to explain to me.He knew a divorce now meant he would leave with nothing—no job,no savings. How would he survive in River City?
A taxi pulled up,and Tom’s mother stormed out,throwing a report at Tom.She slapped Jane twice,cursing:
“You filthy woman!Whore!Seducing men everywhere. You thought you only hooked this pretty boy?Look at this report—the kid wasn’t even his!
“I’ll kill you for ruining the Harris family!”
Tom,who had ordered the paternity test to dodge responsibility, hadn’t expected the child to truly not be his.
His guilt over the miscarriage vanished, replaced by rage.He tackled Jane, pounding her with fists like bricks.
Mark tried to intervene, then realized the child couldn’t be his either.Shocked,he muttered:
“How?How could Jane do this?Isn’t she just a poor, abused pregnant woman?”
I scoffed:
“She could cheat with you—why not others?”
As the scene went bloddy,I called the police to intervene, citing public disturbance.
Leaving the police to handle the Harris family, and I drove off.Mark, desperate, knelt at my car, begging for forgiveness.
I galloped away, leaving him groveling like a dog.
