Because of a birthday gift from my brother,
I was mistaken for a mistress by his fiancé.
She stormed into my home with a mob of internet vigilantes who“dedicated in exposing affairs,”

chanting,“Mistresses aren’t human beings- they deserve to be beaten!”
Just as they were about to start smashing things,
I landed a left hook, then a right hook— If you mess with me,and you will be in trouble!
The live stream audience gasped,“It’s her! There is no way she’s a mistress!”
In the chaos, another woman burst in, pulling the fiancée’s hair and shouting,
“You,a mistress, dare you call someone else a mistress?!”

The scene turned into total chaos.
On a rare day off,I was slumped on my couch in Seattle, scrolling through videos when I came across a live stream about“exposing cheating.”
A group of men and women were chanting, inciting a mob to“punish”the alleged mistress.
They waved banners, shouted slogans, and made a huge spectacle.

These streams have been popular lately.
It’s all about clout—one streamer got famous for“exposing homewreckers,”and now everyone’s cashing in on the outrage with copycat streams.
I’d even seen a case where the“mistress”was actually the wife, wrongly attacked, making the news.
I wasn’t interested and was about to swipe away when I noticed them entering a familiar neighborhood gate.
That’s my neighborhood!Curiosity piqued,I kept watching.
The streamers shouted to the audience:
“This mistress is brazen, living in such a luxury apartment!”
“Like and follow,folks!”
“Send a Super Chat, and we’ll make this mistress fly out of the neighborhood!”
Their scripts were so similar,I wondered if it was staged.
The comment section was buzzing.
“Mistress exposés never get old.Where there’s a mistress,I’m there!”
“What kind of guy is the fiancé?This upscale neighborhood doesn’t accept mortgage payments
—$100 million cash minimum!”
“Her boyfriend’s got deep pockets, buying a mistress a place like this.”
“Maybe he got scammed, and all his money’s going to the mistress!”
As expected,the“fiancée”appeared,tearfully addressing the audience:
“My boyfriend runs a sportswear company. He’s tall, handsome, and rich, surrounded by opportunists.”
“But he’s loyal,devoted to me,never cheating.”
“I don’t know what this woman did to seduce him.”
“She’s always asking him for money—obviously a opportunists. He’s been fooled!”
The woman looked familiar. Then it clicked—she was Lily Thompson,my brother’s girlfriend!
I’d seen their photos, and confirmed it.To train him,I’d help him launch a sports gear company this year.
Our parents were busy with business,so I,five years older, practically raised him.
And now he’s keeping a mistress?In our neighborhood?The nerve!
Furious,I called him,not giving him a chance to speak, and yelled at him:
“You little punk, you’ ve got money and gone corrupt?Get back here,or I’ll turn you into a punching bag!”
Just as I hung up,the doorbell rang.
I opened the door, and a mob of men and women, waving phones, barged in,their noise nearly bursting my eardrums.
One even set up a streaming phone in a prime spot with practiced ease.
I was stunned by their professionalism.
Then I realized—it was Lily and her“mistress-hunting”crew.
When I glanced at the live stream,my face was front and center.
The streamers shouted:
“There she is—the shameless woman stealing someone’s man!”
“Memorize her face.Spot her on the street, beat her,or at least publicly shame her!”
Someone sent a rocket emoji.
“Thanks for the gift! I will give her a good soaking with my spit!”
A male streamer said,“Thanks, viewers!”and pretended to cough and spat.
Instinctively,I yanked a female streamer in front of me,and the spit landed squarely on her face.
“Eww,gross!”she shrieked,clawing at the guy’s face,and they started fighting.
“You mistress, dodging like that? There’s outrageous!”Lily said indignantly.“Think you can steal my man?”
She lunged, swinging a slap at me.
