The next day,I took Lucas for a follow-up visit,and it was Ethan who examined him again.
From the examination to filling out the forms,he didn't look up at me.
The air was eerily quiet,and Lucas didn't dare to make a fuss either.He nestled obediently in my arms,his little hand clutching my collar.
Just then,Ethan's college classmate,Oliver,pushed the door open and came in.
"Ethan,I thought I saw..."
Before he could finish his sentence,he happened to turn his head and see me.He was startled.

Oliver's breath caught.He glanced at the child in my arms.

Oliver gave me a look and slammed the door as he left.
That look he gave me made me feel a bit strange.

After taking care of Ethan,I went to coax Lucas to sleep.Finally,I had time to wash up.
After tidying everything up,I sat on the cushion and stared blankly at the sleeping Ethan.
He seemed to find the light dazzling and put his hand across his eyes,not moving at all.

A hand stroked my head.I looked up,and Ethan was looking down at me.
