You Are My Sailing Track
Three years after our breakup,I bumped into my ex-boyfriend,who had become a doctor.
The door of his office was slightly ajar. With red-rimmed eyes and a hoarse voice,he said,"I've finally found you."

However, unexpectedly,I wrapped my arms around his waist,my eyes glistening with tears of hurt, and murmured softly,"Why did you come so late?"
Pushing open the door of the consulting room,I was stunned for a moment.
The person sitting inside was my ex-boyfriend,Ethan Johnson, whom I had broken up with three years ago.
Back then,he didn't really like me in the first place.I had chased after him persistently and managed to be with him.
So when I brought up the breakup,he didn't try to stop me.He just said,"Okay."
After not seeing him for a few years,he seemed to have become even more indifferent.

He didn't seem to recognize me.He just glanced at the child in my arms.
"What's wrong with him?"
Only then did I remember little Lucas in my arms, who was burning with a fever.
"He has a fever.I gave him some antifever medicine, but the temperature still hasn't gone down."

Ethan reached out and took the child, placing him on the examination table to check him.
"There's a bit of a lung infection. He might need to be hospitalized."
My heart skipped a beat.
A lung infection was no small matter.
Perhaps my face looked terribly worried,so he frowned and said,"I'll prescribe some medicine.First,go and get the IV drip.Observe him tonight. If the fever subsides,he won't need to be hospitalized."
"Thank you,doctor."
"You're welcome."
Finally,Lucas got the IV drip.I held the little one and sat on a chair in the corner.
Lucas was sleeping soundly, his little hand clinging to my collar affectionately. When he was a baby,he clearly looked a lot like me,but now as he grew up,he was starting to resemble Ethan a bit.
Fortunately,Ethan didn't recognize me.
I couldn't help but kiss my son's little face.
To be honest, after being apart for so long,it would be a lie to say that I wasn't touched when I suddenly saw him.
But...what could I do?
Three years had passed...
When I broke up with him,I was so resolute.
He might have already forgotten about me,or he might have already gotten married and had his own family.
If it weren't for my father's passing in prison and the need to handle the aftermath,I wouldn't have come back, let alone met him.
I shouldn't have disturbed his peaceful life now.
As if to confirm my words,Ethan came out soon after.
With his hands in his pockets,he walked to the nurse's station, where there was a slender figure with a graceful back—it was his childhood friend,Amelia Thompson.
After not seeing her for a few years,Amelia had also become a doctor. She looked charming and cute.
I didn't know what they were talking about, but suddenly Amelia gave Ethan a sweet and coquettish glare.
Time seemed so peaceful for them, but I couldn't help feeling a pang of jealousy in my eyes.
At three o'clock in the morning,Lucas'fever subsided.Holding him in one hand and carrying the medicine in the other,I waited for a taxi at the hospital entrance.
A silver Maybach stopped.Inside the car,it was Ethan looking at me.
I used to be the kind of person who would whine and ask him to carry my bag because it was too heavy, but now I could carry a child weighing dozens of pounds in one hand and a heavy and large mommy bag on my back.I looked extremely disheveled.
"Get in the car,"he said.
I instinctively refused.
"No,the taxi I called will be here soon."
He frowned impatiently.
"It's the middle of the night.Where can you find a taxi?Hurry up and get in."
I remembered his surly and cold temper in the past and didn't dare to say more.Besides,I had to go to work the next day. After some hesitation,I carried Lucas and sat in the back seat.
I told him the address of my grandmother's house, and we were silent all the way.
I was drawn to look at Ethan's hand on the steering wheel.
On his slender ring finger, there was a plain silver ring that clung closely to his skin.
He was indeed married.
My heart ached faintly. After all these years,I should have expected this result.
When we reached the intersection of the community,I politely thanked him.
Before I could finish speaking,he opened the car door and got out, taking Lucas from my arms.
"I'll check his condition again to avoid a recurrence of the fever,"he explained when he saw me standing still.
After saying that,he carried Lucas and walked into the old building on his own.
My heart was in a mess, but it was obvious that he had already recognized me.
The familiar old corridor and the dim small light.
I walked a few steps and saw Ethan waiting for me at the corner of the third floor.
"Be careful not to fall."
The familiar reminder, with an almost imperceptible hint of indifference.
The corridor was dim,and I couldn't see his expression clearly.I didn't know if he noticed my red eyes.
At that time, when we had just started dating, the corridor lights in the old dormitory of the school were broken.I was so clumsy that I fell several times at the corner of the corridor.
Later,he often stopped in the stairwell and held my hand, leading me up the stairs step by step.
In the dark night, there was a faint smell of laundry, which was Ethan's smell.Somehow,it made me feel at ease.
Later, countless times in the middle of the night, when I couldn't sleep because of the pain of my pelvis expanding, when Lucas cried and made a fuss all night, and when I was scolded by my boss after working overtime until the middle of the night,I would always think of Ethan.
His hands were so big and warm, holding me tightly.
Those were the most unforgettable moments of happiness in my twenty years of being headstrong.
