I inwardly cursed Rachel a hundred times.
She’d exposed me back then.
When that incriminating post hit the school forum,I booked a flight to London and fled that night,too panicked to confront her.
Now,she acted as if nothing happened.“Jessica,what brings you to the OB-GYN?Sick?”
I shook my head,lying,“No,prepping for pregnancy.Consulting the doctor.”
Ethan’s gaze shifted to me.
Rachel chirped,“What a coincidence!I just got pregnant.We could share tips…”
Ethan cut her off.“Rachel,why waste breath on a liar?”
He pulled her away.
I exhaled,relieved that he’d dragged her off.
I feared I’d lose control and tear through her fake kindness.
But Rachel returned,and slid me an invitation.
“Jess,perfect timing.Next week’s our college reunion—you have to come.”
I started to decline,but she leaned in,whispering,“Jessica Lane,skip it,and I’ll leak those old photos and videos.”
I frowned,then slapped the invitation against her face.
She hadn’t expected my defiance.Her mask cracked.
I stepped back.“What’s so secret that Ethan can’t hear?”
“No reunion for me.Leak whatever photos,videos.If they go viral,I’ll write a book,pitch a documentary,and thank you for the fame.”
The joke’s on her.I’d posed as an heiress among elite trust-fund kids.
Her threats didn’t faze me.
But…why didn’t those photos and videos never leaked back then?
Before I could dwell on it further,Rachel grabbed my hand,yanking herself backward.
I didn’t see it coming.
She crashed to the floor,pulling me down.
Blood was pooling beneath her as she wailed,“Jess,I know you hate me,but not my baby!”
I shut my eyes.
Her plan was clear—frame me,maybe even get rid of the pregnancy she didn’t want.

A crowd gathered,focused on Rachel.I struggled up,locking eyes with Ethan.
His face was ice.
“Jessica Lane,”he said,“your tricks are despicable.”
“Targeting a child?”
As soon as Rachel fell,I knew he wouldn’t believe me.
Even braced for it,my heart ached.
I met his gaze.“Ethan,I’m not that low.”
“If I wanted to push her,I wouldn’t be subtle.”
“Don’t believe me?Check cameras and find witnesses.I lied to you before,but that’s no excuse for baseless accusations.”
