Ethan caused all those sufferings. He taunted thugs, flaunting wealth, drawing attention to himself.
"This pig could set us up for life.Do it or not?"
"We just got out. This food cart was hard-earned.Bro,I'm worried..."

"Worried about what? There’s just one girl now with the kid.You can't take her down?"
I was small, dark, filthy, hair ragged at that time,a dropout helping at my uncle's diner.
Hearing this,I tipped off my sister.Ethan escaped.
She got him home, and my parents called the cops to return him to the Harpers.
The thugs, foiled, knew I was the one that tipped the cops off. They stormed into my aunt's diner kitchen to"teach me a lesson."My aunt and her family fled.
I had no issue with them targeting Ethan, but they shouldn't have eyed my sister.

"That girl looks yummy.A virgin's gotta be fun."
"She was polite, calling us ‘uncle.'We'll teach her what’s real pleasure."
"Since you ruined our plan, your sister compensates."
Their kicks made me nauseous, but as they turned to leave,I grabbed two pots of boiling water and oil and spalshed them.

Their screams gave me time to stab. They retaliated hard.
Open skull fracture, torn tear duct and ligament, face disfigured, body scarred.
After two days in Intensive Care,my parents wanted togive me up.To them,my life was worth less than a dog's.
Dogs guard homes and could be sold for money when old.I on the other hand could gegt them nothing.
My sister stole their savings, saving me and paying for my plastic surgery.I ended up looking just her.
Sobbing, she said this way,she could share my burdens.
We owed our parents$675,823.They raged.
"Can't pay?You sisters better become whores tomake money.I'll adopt a son. He'll get my money, not you ungrateful leeches."
"Traitors! She's dead, fine. That money was for your dad so that he could get a decent job.I'll kill you!"
The farce ended when the Harpers getting my parents a good job.
After, thatmy sister studied hard, earning scholarships.I left my aunt's to run my own stall.
But good jobs alone weren't enough. They schemed to have my sister serving the Harpers as well.
They didn't know what happened years ago,nor did they cared,as long as she could earn money.
The day she was dumped in the slum,we had saved enough for freedom.
I hated her for ruining everything. She destroyed herself and me.
She knew I couldn't survive without her.
It was her stupidity.
If I'd met Ethan first,I would have said I saved his sorry life.
But she stayed silent, asking nothing, never mentioning the past.
She thought Ethan was different, that the prince would find his true Cinderella, until he sat high, sneering.
"I've seen plenty of clingy women.Everyong knows my past. What makes you think I'd value you?Your grades?Beyond that, what do you have?"
When she mustered courage to leave,he sensed something but feared the truth.
He bought her a necklace, trying to win her back and save her from collapsing.
Ethan was pathetic.
