Michael looks at me.
"Mandy, I'm sorry."

"I've never apologized to anyone in my life. I was wrong to blame you before."
He knew the whole truth and also knew that I wasn't what Emily had described me as, so he came to apologize to me specifically. He takes out a bank card from his pocket.
"I smashed your house last time. This money is for compensation. If you have any other needs, you can tell me, and I'll try my best to meet them."
Michael and I have known each other for several years. He has always been arrogant in front of me. But now, he looks sincere and it looks like he really want to apologize.
However, I'm not moved at all. Especially when I think of the scene in my last life where he almost beat me to death, I still feel a deep sense of fear and can't let it go.
I don't take his card. I don't need it. I only have one request: "Don't meet again."

Michael is taken aback.
He didn't expect that I wouldn't want the money. He has never encountered such a situation before and is suddenly at a loss.
I don't care about him and leave directly.
That night, Michael call me.

"Emily is dead."
Emily ran out of my house during the day. Maybe she was too nervous and didn't pay attention to the cars, so she was hit and died on the spot.
When I heard the news of her death, my heart is very calm. She got what she deserved, that’s all.
...
The next day, I go to work at the company.
As soon as I sit down, Brian comes over to my desk.
"Mandy, I have something to say to you."
I glance at him and say lightly: "Sorry, I'm very busy right now. If it's not about work,we can talk when I'm free."
I know what he wants to say, but I'm not interested in listening at the moment. I just want to finish the work that has piled up over the past few days as soon as possible.
The busy day passed quickly.
When I'm packing up to leave work, Brian stops me.
"Mandy, I saw the video you posted online, and I know you were wronged. I want to apologize to you. I misunderstood you."
"I didn't say anything."
Brian looks at me affectionately, just like when he tried to pursue me some time ago.
"I really like you. Don't be angry with me, will you?"
Angry.
He really doesn't understand me at all.
"Brian, we've been colleagues for so long. You should know very well what kind of person I am. If you really liked me, you would have chosen to believe me that day instead of believing what others said so easily. What's the difference between you and those people online who scolded me?"
Brian quickly shakes his head and explains: "It's not like that. I believe you. It's just that that day..."
Brian stops talking. I interrupted him.
"I don't like you. Just like you said last time, let's just continue being colleagues."
I'm about to leave, but Brian grabs my arm: "Mandy, I still hope you can give me a chance. I won't let you down, I promise."
I refuse him firmly with a simple no.
Brian lowers his head in disappointment. I ignore him and walk out of the office, bypassing him.
The love I want is unwavering. Brian isn't the one I want.
But Brian doesn't give up. He keeps showing his affection for me, sending me messages and giving me gifts, but I ignore him and focus all my attention on work. Before long, I get promoted and transferred to the headquarters.
For me, my own career weighs more than anything!
