"Why would we call Nathan here?This is between us women.I'm going to make a scene right here at your workplace so all your colleagues can see what kind of despicable woman you are.And let's see how your patients feel when they find out their doctor has such poor character—who would dare come to you for treatment?"
Seeing that reasoning with her was futile,I tried to push past her, but she shoved me back. "Leaving?No way!I'm here to teach you a lesson."
She turned to her companions,she said,"Record this.I'm delivering justice for women everywhere,beating a homewrecker so others think twice about stealing men."
I snapped,"I'm warning you,stop this,or you'll face consequences you can't handle."
My patients,pinning their hopes on my surgeries,depended on me.If I was hurt,they'd suffer.
She didn't care.
"Even if the sky falls,I can handle it.My boyfriend's a big shot with background.Nothing's beyond him."
"Everyone,beat this woman.Leave her half-dead,begging for mercy,and the cash is yours."
The dozen or so people rushed towards me.
I pushed the patient into a corner for safety.
They pulled my hair,slapped me,and groped me.Despite my efforts to resist,I was overpowered.They held me against the wall,taking turns kicking my abdomen and hitting my face.Even the anatomical models from the office were used to strike me.
I gritted my teeth,trying to see their faces,but blood blurred my vision.
"Pah!Shameless homewrecker.Do you love seducing men?Let's strip her naked!"
"Right!"
The group cheered.I growled,"You wouldn't dare!"
Another slap landed on my mouth."Watch me!I'll strip you completely and take photos of every inch of your body.I'm sure you enjoy being seen by men."
Someone jeered,"Don't doctors say there's no difference between male and female bodies to them?"
"They see private parts all day.She's probably shameless about her own."
They lunged to tear off my clothes.I gripped them tightly,refusing to let go.
"Slut,let me go!"
Tears welled,but I held on.
Someone grabbed scissors from my drawer,stabbing my hand.
I screamed,the pain nearly knocking me out.
But it wasn't enough.The woman snatched the scissors,stabbed my hand tendon,and sliced it through.
They pinned my arm hard.Agony overwhelmed me.
No matter how I fought,I couldn't break free,watching helplessly as she ruined my hand.
"You seduced my boyfriend,tainted what I love most.Now I'll destroy what you treasure most.Hold her other arm.I'll make her both hands useless."
The patient,heedless of danger,lunged,trying to grab the scissors.
"Please,don't ruin Dr.Lawson's hands!They save lives!"
The woman kicked her down hard.
The door was kicked open.
Nathan appeared as the woman severed my other hand's tendon.
"Vanessa Reed,what are you doing?"
My last conscious moment was Nathan rushing to hold me,shouting,"Honey,don't scare me!Stay awake!"
Vanessa gasped,"Nate,what did you call her?"
