"Evidence?"Ethan mocked,pulling out a lighter.
I sensed trouble and lunged to stop him,but two security guards pinned me.
Ethan burned all the evidence.
"All footage is deleted.No evidence now,huh?"
Claire smirked.
"That's what you get for crossing me.Even if it's my fault,what can you do?You'll take the blame."
I struggled,snarling,"You useless fool,get lost!"
"Dare insult me?I'll teach you a lesson!"
Claire raised her hand to slap me.
The next second,the door was kicked open.
Perfect timing.
A group rushed in,led by the child's parent.
Seeing the crowd,the guards let me go—not worth risking for their pay.
The parent helped me up,tears streaming.
"Miss,I'm here to thank you.If you hadn't warned us,my child might be dead."
"Where's that woman who gave my kid bad food?"
I glanced at Claire,cowering in the corner.The parent spotted her,rushed over,and slapped her hard.
"How do you do your job?Why'd you give my kid bad food?You ruined the whole banquet!"
Ethan shielded Claire.
"Ma'am,calm down.Claire didn't know—it was her!"He pointed at me viciously."She mishandled ingredients,poisoning your child!"
Ms.Harper,recovering from shock,said sternly,
"I'm their manager.We've investigated,and it's Sophie's error that caused this trouble."
Their shamelessness stunned me.
"If it was me,why'd you nervously delete the footage?I'm just a chef—I can't access security!"
Ethan shook his head."Sophie,I'm disappointed.To dodge blame,you framed Claire and bribed security to delete evidence."
Their confidence made the parent hesitate.
"Fine!"I sneered,locking eyes with Ethan."You just deleted the footage,right?A hacker can recover it,and we'll see who's at fault."
Claire's face paled.
"It's not all Sophie's fault—I messed up too.I'll pay,just forgive us!"
Ms.Harper,guilty,promised righteously,
"Rest assured,we'll investigate and compensate fully."
The parent calmed down slightly,demanding a response within three days or they'd sue the restaurant.
I said nothing—without evidence,it was pointless.
I wasn't sure the footage could be recovered,but I knew Claire wouldn't risk it.
Claire,face swollen,sobbed.
"Sophie,happy now?It was a small mistake—why ruin me?You destroyed my future!"
I wanted to tear her apart.How could anyone be so shameless?
