The man with the greasy hair folded his arms and looked at me significantly.
"Afraid?"
"Don't worry,I won't force you.If you're afraid,you can leave right now."
"However,you have to pay me back the deposit."
My hand instinctively pressed against my pocket,where there was a thousand dollars lying inside,almost all the money I got right now.
I snorted coldly,forced myself to make up my mind,and strode into the room.
The decoration inside the room couldn't be described as just exquisite anymore;it was simply extravagant!
Extravagance was not just about the superficial grandeur but also about the staggering prices.Any random item in the room was worth a year's worth of my work!
The man with the greasy hair,in a very formulaic manner,took me around to inventory every item in the room.After warning me not to damage any of the items in the room,he left.
Out of respect for those luxurious furniture,I didn't even take another look at them.I just threw myself right onto the large bed in the master bedroom and couldn't help but let out a long,comfortable sigh.
It's so great to be rich!
Then,thinking that I only had a thousand dollars left,I didn't continue to enjoy the luxury.I took out my phone and lay on the bed,scrolling through the job recruitment information.
Suddenly,my blood seemed to freeze.
Because, there was a figure reflected on my phone screen!
I felt that there was suddenly heavy weight my neck.I turned my head bit by bit.It seemed like it took an eternity before I finally turned around and saw the figure behind me clearly.
It wasn't a figure at all!It was just a pattern on the wardrobe.
I was just being paranoid!
I patted myself on the head lightly and cursed with a laugh to hide my fear.
Forget it.I'd better take a shower and go to bed.I’l have a good sleep tonight,and I’ll worry about work tomorrow.
Suddenly,a strange noise came from outside the door,as if something had been broken.
Was it a mouse?
I was startled and almost rushed out of the room.
Are you kidding me!The things here are all extremely expensive.If I have to pay for any damage later,what on earth would I use to pay for it?
The sound seemed to be coming from the kitchen.However,when I turned on the light in the kitchen,nothing was there!
There weren’t shattered pieces of anything either.
I almost turned the kitchen upside down,but I found nothing.
Just as I was feeling puzzled,another sound came from the bathroom.
My heart skipped a beat...
I looked towards the bathroom and an inexplicable chill rose inside me.
I suddenly remembered that the man with the greasy hair had carefully explained the situation of the house to me,dragging me through almost every corner of the house,but strangely he had forgotten the bathroom.
I hesitated for a moment and then directly went back to my room.
Anyway,I was just here as a sleep tester,not a security guard.Even if something was broken,it wasn't my fault!
Besides,I had no money at all,so I couldn't afford topay for it even if I wanted to!
I locked the door and decided to go straight to sleep without taking the shower!
Creak...Creak...
However,that sound didn't stop.In fact it even became louder and clearer.Even with the door tightly closed and the blanket covering my ears,the sound was still extremely clear,as if it went straight into my head, scratching at my heart.
My mood gradually became irritable.
I had no choice but to gather my courage,pick up a bedside lamp from the bedroom as a weapon,and cautiously walked towards the bathroom.
It was a mouse!
When I saw the two mice,I subconsciously let out a sigh of relief and even looked at them with some interest.
These two mice were huge in size.
Presumably,I’m the first person they had seen in a very long time,so they completely ignored my presence.They were still lying on the cabinet of the washstand,scratching at the cabinet door intently.
The wooden cabinet door was already covered with claw marks of different depths.
The scratching sound came through without any obstruction,turning my annoyance gradually into anger.
I stomped hard and pretended to throw the table lamp at them.The two mice squeaked and rushed towards the toilet.They nimbly jumped up and got in.
I laughed,walked over,and closed the toilet lid.Just as I was about to leave,I suddenly smelled a faint stench,which seemed to be coming from the cabinet of the washstand.
My eyes involuntarily fell on the cabinet,and I couldn't look away.There was even an urge in me to open the cabinet.
However,a chill ran down my back,and the fear that welled up in me was desperately trying to stop me.
When I finally came to my senses in my internal struggle,my hand was almost touching the cabinet door.
The instinct of fear won in the end.Without hesitation,I quickly walked out of the bathroom.
But just as I stepped out of the door,a sound of the cabinet door being hit came from behind me.I was shocked and,somehow,I stood still.
Knock...
Knock...
Knock...
The knocking sound came one after another,becoming clearer and louder.It was as if it was directly hitting my heart,making my heart beat faster and faster.
Creak...
The knocking sound turned into a long and sharp sound of the door opening.
The door opening?
My heart twitched violently that I suddenly bit my tongue sharply.
The excruciating pain allowed me to break free from the stiffness of my body.I wanted to run,but I’ve lost control of my body once more.I slowly turned around.
The cabinet!
One of the cabinet doors was open!
The stench became even stronger.My stomach churned violently,and my head felt dizzy.
A black object rolled out and wobbled on the ground.
Before it stopped,I was already certain what it was!
A human head!
Suddenly,I felt my limbs go weak.I fell to my knees, there was a bruning feeling in my throat,and I vomited violently lying on my stomach on the ground.
I vomited so hard that my stomach ached,and tears and snot streamed down my face.
After a while,when I had nothing left to vomit,I collapsed on the ground,leaning against the wall,gasping for breath.
I tried my best to avoid looking at that human head,but somehow my glance couldn’t seem to stop drifting towards it.
That human head was actually star atng right me with its eyes wide open!
