I smoked a cigarette on the balcony. The biting evening wind sobered me up a lot.
Once there is suspicion in a relationship, the crack will only get bigger and bigger.
This is not just empty talk.
Before today,I had never thought that Emily was materialistic or a"brother-favoring demon".
When we were in love before,I didn't think about it carefully. But now, looking at it with a skeptical eye,I found a lot of problems.
I first met Emily at school.I accompanied the newly enrolled Emily, who was in the first grade of senior high school,to go through the enrollment procedures and exchanged contact information.
But we didn't contact each other after that.
It was only after my business boomed and the factory expanded that Emily contacted me,wanting to stockpile 200 masks at the cost price. After that, she kept asking me out for dinner and to watch movies.
Think about it carefully.
Although the"mask"situation was still fluctuating at that time,it was generally under control. There really wasn't a need to stockpile 200 masks at once.
Moreover, when masks were most needed,Emily didn't contact me.She only reached out to me after the situation stabilized and my factory expanded.
Think about it some more.Apart from being particularly nice to me when we first got together and when she wanted me to buy her something,Emily seemed to treat me just averagely at other times.
I'm not sure if Emily really got together with me because of my money.
But today's events made me think so.
For the next week, there was no news from Emily or her family.
Although I wanted to contact her many times,I held back in the end.
Even though I got together with Emily because my parents were urging me,we had developed feelings after more than a year of being together.
But my reason kept reminding me that if Emily really fell out with me because of Tom's unreasonable demands, then no matter how much I liked her,I couldn't marry her.
Just as I was thinking about how to tell my parents that the time for them to wait for a grandson would have to be postponed,Emily sent me a message.
"Jack,my parents have been stopping me from contacting you.Are you still angry?I want to see you."
I met Emily in the park where we had our first date.
As soon as she saw me,she threw herself into my arms. That hug, which almost made me suffocate, softened my heart again.
Emily said that she had wanted to contact me these past few days, but her family wouldn't let her, saying that they were waiting for me to apologize first.
Maybe they were really afraid that I wouldn't get married,or maybe they were persuaded by Emily.
Anyway, according to Emily, now her parents no longer insisted on asking me to solve Tom's car problem, and they invited me to have dinner at home tonight to talk things over.
As long as Tom didn't cause any more trouble.
As for myself,I still really wanted to have a future with Emily.
Apart from the feelings we had, mainly,I was also too lazy to spend time getting to know new people. Moreover,my family was also urging me,always hoping that I would get married and have children as soon as possible.
In the evening,I went back home with Emily.
Sure enough,as she said,as soon as we got home,I saw her parents smiling at me.
There were fewer dishes this time compared to last time, but for some reason,I felt more at ease.
Looking at the attitude of her parents now,I should be able to marry Emily as planned.
