Chapter 159

Alessandro blinked his eyes copiously in astonishment at the snide remark that I just threw at him and soon his head was thrown back as he let out a holler of laughter. His laughter was like pearls, rare as this was the first time that I have heard him this gleeful. His eyes even glistened with unshed tears, causing my lips to twitch as they wanted to smile along with the contagious laughter.

I just sat there quietly waiting for the man in front of me to cease his merriment with a frown on my face. The laughter quiet down to playful snickers and Alessandro brought his head back to look at me with glossy eyes.

"Have I ever told you that I love your pouty mouth?"

"No, but you can keep that compliment for in the trash. Waiter." Raising my hand, I called for the same waiter that had just served us. The waiter walked to us and, when he stood at our table, pulled out his small notepad from his pocket.

"How may I be of service?"

"I would like to have one of the strongest drinks that you have."

"I will bring one out right now." The waiter bowed his head before taking his leave, disappearing into the kitchen to appear back again with a bottle of rum. He poured the beverage into a fresh glass.

"I must have really upset you with my comment." Hummed Alessandro as he perceived how the glass got filled to the rim. "Does hearing the truth hurt you enough to drink it away?"

The waiter handed me over the filled glass and I didn't miss how his fingers secretly caressed my hand as he did that while sending me a polite smile that was supposed to hide his actual intention. Well, look at that. I have secured a one-night stand. That is, if I manage to get away from the man sitting in front of me. Receiving no orders, the waiter took his leave and left the bottle of rum behind for me.

I chucked the content of the glass down in one go and felt the immediate effect of the alcohol hitting me, turning my whole body warm and the inhabitations in my brain loose. "No, I just didn't know that this date included interrogation." I refilled the glass again, bringing it to my lips.

Alessandro smiled and stretched his hand to take the bottle away from me. "I only want to get to know you better and make you realize I am the best option for you."

I scoffed. "By being a dick?"

"By making you understand that hopping from bed to bed won't fill the hole in your heart." His eyes that were fixated on me watched how my body stiffened in place. My lips detached themselves from the rim of the glass.

"What do you mean?" Came my quiet whisky soaked voice, my green eyes glaring at my reflection in the drink.

"You'll just self-destruct if you keep going down this path. Though you may use them, stop going for the ones who don't see your worth-"

THUNK!

I slammed the glass down on the table, cutting off Alessandro. "And what makes you think that you're any better? You're just like them using me as an exotic pet to entertain yourself." I snarled bitterly, not being able to contain the feelings that were cut by each of Alessandro's words. I averted my eyes to the side, not allowing him to see my vulnerable side. "This is the only way I know how to live, so leave me the hell alone. Just get your doses of fun and let me go already."

I don't need anyone to tell me that how I am living is toxic. I am a freaking killer. Which part of me is mentally stable?

"Bambino." My heart skipped a beat at Alessandro's unwavering voice. The tone of it sweet and calm, beckoning me to look at him. Drawing my bottom lip between my teeth, I turned my head to glare at him, my eyes burning with a mixture of anger and pain.

Stretching his hand out he ushered with a soft smile, "Come."

My initial response was to smack his hand away from me, but maybe because of the way his voice sounded so sweet like honey clicking so well with my intoxicated mind compared to his normal commanding voice I felt compelled to grab his hand that looked so warm and inviting.

Grumbling something intangible under my breath about how he shouldn't act so haughty I stood up from my place and still laid my hand in his to let him pull me on his lap, ignoring the people working in the restaurant who witnessed the scene.

Wrapping me in his embrace, he spoke, "Do you know why I want you?"

"No…" I replied with a yawn, noticing how my body was turning slack with sleep.

"Because of your eyes. They called me."

"I don't remember ever calling you with my eyes." I retorted, rubbing my blurry eyes.

"That's because I was the only one to decipher their code. Do you still want to finish your food?"

I shook my head, resting my head against his chest. "I just want to go back and sleep."

"If that is what you want." He placed a chaste kiss on my temple before asking one of the workers to bring a bottle of water and the receipt.

The guy who had been serving us the whole time came with a bottle of water and the receipt, written on it a heart wrenching amount. And we didn't even order the desert!

Alessandro took the bottle of water, opening the cap and giving it to me. "Drink it. You had too much to drink today." If it wasn't for my already flushed face, the blush that dusted my cheeks wouldn't have gone unnoticed. Sometimes his brazen attitude of showing his affection for me in public caught me off guard and made my heart drum incessantly.

"Is everything alright with the sir?" The lanky man asked, worried.

Alessandro didn't reply and pulled out a wad of cash from his suit, handing it over to the waiter who received it with a frazzled expression.

"That's for you." Alessandro said with a stoic expression, but something dark was lurking behind his eyes.

"That's too much of a tip sir." The guy was lost for what to do, as it was the first time that he ever had received such a huge amount.

Alessandro's lips pulled in an eerily smile. "Take it. It's your hospital fees." And before the waiter could react, Alessandro grabbed his hand and slammed it on the table whilst pulling out the knife and stabbing it through his hand.
