Chapter 37 I Got Angry

Vale inhales a large intake of breath.

"Did Caleb tell you that Keith and I were going somewhere after the dinner?" she stared ahead at the dark road that was illuminated by the car's headlight.

"Yeah." he nodded.

"Well, we kind of go to this park, and I asked him about what happened today. Somehow, We fell into a quarrel, and I demanded to go back. He said we're not going back until we mend the problems. I...I got angry...at him..."

Vale gulped, "I shouted at him, hit him. Keith was trying to calm me down, but I thrashed on his hold. A bullet darts and scraped my shoulder. The bullet came from Keith's back." she explained.

She holds the steering wheel tightly as her knuckles turned white.

She was thankful...that it was only one bullet. One freaking shot that almost took Keith's life.

"We hurried back to the mansion. It was only one bullet. But, there's no firing sound. I think it was a silencer."

"When we arrived at the mansion, I was wondering if he's frightened or bothered. He's so calm and even slept so well. But I can't. I got a message from an unknown number tonight before I try to sleep. But I didn't tell him about it. That's why I walk to you."

He was silent for a minute before he spoke, "You should tell him about it." he stated.

"I don't know if I can. I-" Jake cut her off.

"That person wouldn't know you tell him, they didn't threaten you, right?" he asked.

"No." she shakes her head.

"See? They wouldn't know. I just wonder how they got your number though." he huffed.

Vale was curious about it too.

She has two phones.

One is a standard phone which consisted of her family and friends contact, and the other is a burn phone which contained the gang's number.

The unknown number sent a message to her burn phone.

"I was just as curious as you. I mean, my phone is untraceable and the only one who can trace it is our gang." she voiced out her thoughts.

"Vale, this is not supposed to happen. You shouldn't be known by the other gang. You should be invisible. This is not good for you and the gang." he sounds frustrated.

Something about the words 'other gang' caught her off guard and made her accidentally press not the break.

"What the hell? Are you trying to kill us? What's wrong with you? You almost hurt my baby!" he holds onto the seatbelt for dear life.

Vale rolled her eyes as she gained back her composure.

"Sorry, I thought I just saw a cat on the road." she shrugged nonchalantly.

"I saw nothing!" he screeched.

"The cat is black. Of course, you can't see it!" she scoffed.

"How the hell you see a black cat in the dark?" he argued.

"I like black, and I have superzoom eyes. Plus, it's not dark when your car is flashing its headlights, you moron!" she snapped.

"Ugh! Fine! How the hell you have superzoom eyes anyway?" he crossed his arms, mumbling the last part, which she ignored.

The car went silent before she speaks again, "As long as the gang can be protected then I'm willing to do anything." she thought out loud, surprising herself.

When the hell did she ever want to protect this gang that ruined her life?

"How?" Jake sounded intrigued.

"I'll try to find a way and solve this on my own."

"No! You can't do that! It's not safe! Keith will be mad if he knows you did something without informing him!" he argued.

"Damn it! I know what I should do! Do you think I'll be safe if I didn't do anything? While the gang takes action, I'll just have to watch? Hell, no!" she argued back.

"I'm not letting you out to the public! No and never. I'll tell Keith and the others. We'll take this into our hands." he speaks firmly.

"You can't stop me." she gritted her teeth.

"Just wait till I tell Keith about this," he warns.

"Are you threatening me?" she looks at him with disbelief.

"If it means you'll be safe, hell yes, I'm gonna threaten you." he holds his chin high.

Double Damn it!

"Why would I listen to you?!" she snapped.

He was silent for a bit.

"Do you know what you've just done?" his tone was harsh.

Her heart sting at his question, but she can't deny the truth.

"I know that this is my fault, okay?" her tone quivered as her eyes boiled with hot water.

"No, you don't! You're stubborn, and you're selfish! Why can't you just listen for once and not think about your own self? Can't you see we're all trying to keep you safe?"

Her tears slid down in a rush at the truth.

'I know I'm stubborn but selfish?'

"I'm not talking to you." she bit back the inside of her cheek to distract the pain somewhere else.

Just wait.

She's not hired to be a hidden killer for nothing.

She would have to ask help from her newly obtained gang.

This doesn't sound so good.

What if it was one of the Venomous Gang's work?

She recalled giving James her phone number.

Was it her burn phone number or the other one?

She mentally slapped her head.

How did she miss this fact?

Her brain was too hazy at that moment. Of course, she wouldn't remember!

They arrived at the mansion and she stormed out of the car. She decided to go to the basement instead of her room. She hoped that some training would calm her down.

She doesn't think she can sleep at all.

If Keith knows about this...no!

She must run out before he wakes up.

Sighing, she grabbed her phone on the table after an hour of training.

A message caught her off guard before her mouth stretches up in a grin.

She dialled the number, waiting for the person to pick up.

Just a perfect time for an ideal situation.

"Hello?" the person's voice rang in her ear.

"It's me. Can you pick me up at the Navy park?" she asked.

"Yeah, sure." the person said.

Vale hung up and went back to her room silently. She packed a few clothes and put them in a small bag.

She hovered a bit on Keith's face before placing a small lingering kiss on his forehead.

"I'm sorry..."

She left the room quietly with her heart aching. She escaped the mansion using the balcony and also climbed on the high wall of the gate.

She ran through the woods, which was connected to the park. She had used this way before on her mission.

Vale sat on the bench under the tree and waited with a hood covering her face.

A few minutes later, a black SUV car pulls up on the side of the road. The windows rolled down, and she grinned when she saw the person's face.
