Chapter 22 Lovebirds

1224words
Keith had just come back with his member from their mission to confront some gang, who tried to wage war with Black Rose gang, when they saw Lexy pacing back and forth inside the mansion with blood on her shirt.

She stopped pacing and raise her head when she heard their footsteps. Her face paled when her gaze landed on Keith.

"Lexy, what happened? You're supposed to be home now. Why are you covered in blood? Are you hurt?" Brett walks over to her and immediately inspect her for any injuries.

Lexy shakes her head and hugged him. She sobbed silently as Brett mumble something to her.

They had grown to know these two lovebirds.

After a few minutes, she calmed down, "I-it...w-wasn't mine." She stuttered and shifted uncomfortably under Keith's sharp gaze.

"Who's blood is it?" Keith asked her curiously.

She ran her fingers through her hair frustratedly before answering.

"It's...Vale's blood." Her eyes glistened with tears.

Dread filled Keith's mind at the news. Keith turns his head to look at Jake. He was the last person who saw her.

"I don't know, okay? She went to work, and I leave." Jake firmly stated.

"Where is she?" Keith turned to Lexy.

"Emergency room."

Keith didn't wait for another explanation and run towards the emergency room followed by the guys.

Leaving Brett and Lexy behind.

Keith opens the door and found one of his private doctors on the room, preparing to treat her.

The middle-aged doctor looks up when he heard the creak of the door.

Keith's heart throbbed in pain when he looks at her. He doesn't doubt she will survive. She's a fighter.

Her face was bruised; her body looks like she bathed in blood. They can see small cuts everywhere on her body.

Keith blood boiled looking at the sight. He swears if he knows who touched her, he will rip their body parts into pieces.

"Oh, Shit!" Jake cursed.

Keith turns towards the guys. Their face shows a mix of emotion: anger, worry and confusion.

"Guys, find out what happened. Tell our allies to hunt down who did this." Keith commanded.

They hesitated, and he knows why. They wanted to be on her side.

"I'll stay with her," Keith finalized.

They finally nodded before walking out of the room. Keith turns back around to face the doctor.

"Sir-" Dr Max hesitated.

"Go on." Keith urged him.

"I think you shouldn't see me operating on her." Dr Max look at him with fear in his eyes.

Keith scowled at him, "Just do it!" he snapped at him.

"Y-yes, sir!" Dr Max immediately went into action.

Keith huffed in annoyance and rubbed his temple.

How did she get herself in trouble?

What is she doing outside during night time?

No one knows about her. Except, a spy is working inside the gangs.

Why didn't she run?

There's no way she didn't run.

Except, she can't.

Keith caught a glimpse of her phone and bag on the table at the corner of the room. He walks towards the desk and took her phone.

He opened the phone and saw that it required passwords to open it.

Keith racked his brain trying to figure out her passwords.

His name. No.

Her name. Obviously no.

Her birthday. No.

His birthday. No.

And so on.

After a lot of trials, Keith ended up typing Black Rose. The screen flashed open.

Keith sat on the chair while rummaging through her phone. He knows it's invading her privacy. But, He wanted to see if it can lead to something, like hint or clue about what happened to her.

He stopped scrolling when he checked the recent calls on her phone screen. His face turns hard.

She called all of them at 10:15 pm multiple times.

She only worked until 7 pm.

Keith gritted her teeth when he thought about her fighting for 3 hours trying to escape from the troubles she's facing. He runs his hands through his hair, frustrated. He felt guilt washing over him.

His rule when they're on a mission is to put their phone into silent mode. The phone is going to distract them from completing the task.

Now, what do they get from that?

Her, lying unconscious on the bed, beaten and losing blood.

Keith closed his eyes while leaning back on the chair. His mind went back to Lexy. If she finds her after they completed the mission, she might know who did this.

He abruptly stands up and storms out of the room, running towards the main entrance. But, there's no one there.

He dialled Brett's number using Vale's phone. After a few beeps, Brett picks up the call.

"Yeah?"

"Where's Lexy?" Keith asked him straight to the point.

"We're in my room. Why?"

Keith ended the call and run upstairs towards Brett's room. He knocked when he arrived.

Yeah, knock.

He just can't bear the thought of seeing them both naked on the bed.

Brett opens the door and Keith stride inside searching for Lexy. She was sitting on the couch, lost in thought.

"Lexy?" Keith approached her.

"Y-yeah?" Lexy immediately snaps out from her thoughts.

"How did you find her?" Keith asked as he sat on the couch opposite her.

She sighed, "I was driving back to go home when I pass through her workplace. I saw her at the dark alley a bit far from the building. So, I stopped and ran towards her. But, she fell backwards and hit her head on the road pavement."

"One of the men kneel and whispered something on her ear before all of them runs away. There's so many of them..." She said.

Keith shiver at the thought of her trapped between a bunch of strong and armed man. Luckily, they ran away when Lexy run towards them. Keith furrowed his eyebrows.

There's so many of them. So why would they run when Lexy appear?

"Who are they?"

"I don't know, but I saw two dead bodies on the ground."

Keith sighed and nodded.

He took out his phone and called Caleb, "Caleb, check the area of her workplace."

"Got it!"

Keith ended the call and stand up.

"This doesn't make sense. There are so many of them. Why would they run when they saw you?" Keith asked her, more like assessing her.

"Are you accusing me of being one of them?" Lexy snapped.

"I didn't say that." Keith tilted his head.

"You-" She stood up and was about to lash out when Brett blocked her.

"Calm down, okay?"

"You're not getting anywhere near her anymore," Keith said before he walks towards the door.

"What?! Hell, no! Brett-"

"Where are you going?"

Lexy whined the same time Brett asked Keith where he's going.

"To check on my girl."

"Pfft. My girl..." Brett mocks him.

"Shut up and check your missed calls."

Keith slammed the door behind him, not before he heard Brett cursed.

This is his fault. He's gonna fix it himself.

He opens the emergency room and sat back on the chair at the corner of the room. He leaned back on the chair and closed his eyes.

He kept thinking about her and the probability of her getting known by other gangs.

No, he cannot let that happen. Maybe, he should stop her from working and no mission until her bruise is fully healed.
