Chapter 10

One day, two figures appeared outside my barrier.
One was the smugly triumphant Lilith.
The other was a man who resembled Carlos but with an entirely different air.
He exuded wicked frivolity, his gaze crawling over me with undisguised hunger.
"This is Carlos's elder brother, Lord Sariel," Lilith purred.
So this was him.
I'd encountered this name in my research—a notorious figure in hell, infamous for his debauchery and cruelty.
Lilith clung to Sariel's arm as they came to inspect me—a sacrifice approaching "ripeness."
"Oh? Is this the premium sacrifice that gave my stone-hearted brother human feelings?"
Sariel's gaze slithered over my body like a venomous snake, practically stripping me bare.
"She does look delicious. Such tender skin, and those fascinating eyes... I wonder if her soul tastes as sweet as they say."
As he spoke, he reached toward the barrier, fingers stretching toward my face.
"Don't touch her."
Carlos's ice-cold voice cut through the room. He stood in the doorway, his face a thundercloud.
Sariel turned as if he'd heard the funniest joke and laughed theatrically.
"What's wrong, little brother? She's just food. Are you really this possessive over someone looking at her, touching her?"
He ignored Carlos's warning, his finger with its skull ring reaching more deliberately toward me.
Just as his fingertip was about to touch the barrier—
*CRASH!*
A blast of black energy erupted from Carlos with his uncontainable roar, sending the unprepared Sariel staggering backward!
Lilith's smile froze on her face.
Carlos stepped forward, positioning himself between me and them, shielding me completely.
In his crimson eyes blazed murderous intent that could no longer be contained.
For the first time, before other demons, he bared his fangs for me—his supposed betrayer.
"I said, don't touch her!"
He enunciated each word slowly, his quiet voice carrying the absolute authority of a king.
Sariel steadied himself, all frivolity vanishing, replaced by shock and apprehension.
"Carlos, are you insane? For a human..."
"She is mine."
Carlos left only these words before carrying me away.
