Chapter 168: Busted

She wondered what on earth her assistant was doing, she was sure that she told her that she didn't want to meet anyone today, she would have to deal with her at a later date. The most pressing thing to do now is to contact that man that she hired to get someone to do the job.
She had contacted another person she know to help her get a disposable man that would be able to perform a staged hit and run and he had got a disposable man who seemed to be at the brink of death because of all the debts that had piled up on him, the man was so damn desperate and his eyes shone when she heard that thousands of dollars awaits him as long as he is able to tip a single car over.
The man who helped her get the guy had not heard from him, so she was at the edge and couldn't get anything done, she just kept pacing about the big office.
The person at the door left when they got no response from her and she couldn't be bothered to know who it was, she had not heard any news about Sapphire, not her near death experience nor was she seen at her house but there is news that all her friends visited her house.
That could be a good sign to her. The only thing that she could think if Sapphire isn't dead is that the man didn't get the opportunity to perform his work, she didn't want to think about the possibility of her surviving it and the man failing. As soon as the thought crossed her mind, she shook her head to wish it away.
The door slammed open and Melissa raised her head to yell at the person but the words got stuck in her throat as soon as she saw Sapphire at the door. She had a smirk on her lips and looked not a day over twenty.
She entered the room, her heels made a rhythmical sound as she made her way toward her.
'How is my stubborn, devious and desperate sister doing nowadays?" She asked and Melissa opened her mouth to talk but still couldn't find the right words. 'Did the fact that I am still breathing made you so speechless that you had to rack your brains for words?"
'I have no idea what you are talking about," she finally said.
'Of course, you don't. We would both pretend that the accident on the highway wasn't part of your plan if that's what you want." Sapphire replied and Melissa felt her heart slam hard against her ribcage, it was a surprise that Sapphire didn't hear.
'Don't come here saying nonsense, I did nothing of such. You should be rather apologetic for ignoring all my calls, is this some sort of payback? You ignored my calls because you didn't want to give me money right?!" Melissa yelled at her and Sapphire just stared at her blankly.
Anger was her best bet, she would steer this conversation away from her and try to get Sapphire out of this place before she talks to the man she hired, they needed to cover their tracks. There is likely that the hit man was held captive by them already, there should be absolutely no implications.
Melissa thought that there is no way they would have been able to link the man to her this soon and there was some high possibility that Sapphire was shooting through the hips, she would not fall into her trap, no matter how beautifully she crafted it out to be.
'There is a low possibility that I would pick up the call even if I had seen it but I wasn't able to because your partner dearest shot me in the back. I am sure that you have been informed of this already." Sapphire replied, she went ahead to sit on the chair leisurely and crossed her legs comfortably which made Melissa scoff.
'You are quite cocky." Melissa said and Sapphire shrugged.
'I have some good enough reasons to be. You know what we would do now? Get yourself ready to spend some time in a secluded place_"
'What the hell are you ranting on about?" Melissa asked and Sapphire rolled her eyes at her.
'Shut up Melissa and listen to me. You have done enough all this years and it is high time you started repenting for all of the wrongs you have done_"
'You have no right to preach some nonsense to me, it is none of your business what I decide to do. What repentance? Did the bullet mess with your brain?" Melissa cut her off again.
'Grandmother loved you a lot, she loved both of us. I guess we would not be able to decide who she loved most since she is dead and gone, but she gave you a shot at repentance." Sapphire said, and stood up from the chair. She walked to where Melissa stood and got in her personal space and they glared at each other for a bit.
'Haven't you heard of personal space? Shift the hell back." Melissa said and Sapphire scoffed before she held her hand and grabbed Melissa's jaws tightly and harshly which made Melissa wince in pain.
'What the hell are you doing?"
'You blew up her last act of kindness towards you. You have the guts to plan some sort of attack against me, but you have no gut to face me head on. You would always be the coward Melissa, even when you feel and know that you really deserved something that was dropped into someone else's laps, you would not confront the person and fight the person, you preferred to shoot from the dark. I used to wonder why you do that since it is obvious to everyone in New York and outside that you are one main bitch, no one thinks that you are good. But it is only because you are just a coward and that's what you would always be." She adjusted her head harshly so that they could stare at each other in the eye. 'You would always be beneath me, Melissa. Whether you like it or not, you can't be above me. Nature made that loud and clear when you came into the world after me as my YOUNGER sister and not the OLDER."
She yanked her face away and Melissa stumbled and tried to catch herself before she could fall to the ground which made her hit her side on the table near them, she stared at Melissa with red eyes and Sapphire stared back at her with arrogant ones.
'You remember what I said about the fact that we could pretend that you didn't plan the accident. Sure. I still stand by that." Sapphire said with a smirk as she made her way to the door while Melissa glared at her with immense hatred, she opened the door and turned her head to look at her. 'But I don't know if the police would do that either. Unfortunately, the man you hired tried to crash the car when there were four members of rich households in the car, Including Tiara Luther. That's a hard nut to crack, I doubt that she would overlook the mishap even if you grovel. Have fun." She said, the smirk on her lips intensified when she saw the petrified look on Melissa's face but she walked away nevertheless.
'No, you can't do that to me. I won't let you send me to prison." Melissa said and hurried after her but was blocked by the police that had been standing at the door all this while.
'We would like you to follow us to the station willingly, Ms. Conrad, or we would have to exert force." One of the men at the door said and Melissa shook her head.
'Damn it if I would follow you!"
'Sadly, you have got no choice. Ms. Aldine had given us the right to cause a scene if there is no way to avoid it." Another man said and held her hand tightly in an iron grip.
'Fuck off! I won't go to the station with you! I have the right to contact my lawyer! You can't arrest me for nothing!" Melissa kept yelling but Sapphire didn't glance back at them, all the employees around stared at them and some even recorded a video of her tantrum.
'Alright. Ms. Conrad. You are under arrest for your involvement in an attempted murder against Ms. Sapphire Aldine." The third policeman said.
'There, that's it. Now let us go." The first man said and they resumed dragging her.
