Chapter 121: Blackmail Tools

She was feeling very tired, in between her grandmother's pressure for her to assume the position of a General Manager and Matthew's hidden agenda, Claire's insecurities and doubts, her sister's growing hatred and Oliver's unknown plan. She just wants to find a place to sleep and let a year run past her.
She raised her head from the file she was attending to and exhaled at how many is still left, Oliver really did leave a mess. It is about time Hannah left that model work of hers and started working at a company, not that she won't ask her opinions about it.
Venita's true colors have been shown to the public and she hardly has anything to do and most brands do not want to extend their contract with her. Oliver might have managed to help her salvage the public opinion.
At least they don't want to attack her anytime they see her anymore and reporters are not camping at her door but business people know each other's way. Any small news may trigger the opinion and no one wants to help her suffer the brute.
The door opened slightly and Candy poked her head in, she looked tired but had a genuine smile on her face.
'I think you guys should rest a bit, make a coffee or two for yourselves?" She asked and Candy's smile widened as she entered the office fully.
'It is okay, Ms. CEO, I think you can say that for yourself. It is only right that we are tired, this is how I envision myself to be when I entered this major in college. Mr. Gray ruined that for me but thanks to you, we can experience the thrill all over again. We are not complaining," She replied and Sapphire smiled with a nod.
'If you think that way," Sapphire said and cracked her fingers. Candy eyes ran over all the files that littered the modern and expensive desk with a small frown.
'This is going to take a while. At this rate, you might not be able to go on that trip with Mr. Alexander," She said with pity in her voice and Sapphire smiled.
'And here I still have a lot of these things to drop on your table," Candy said and showed her the files that she held behind her and Sapphire only nodded tiredly. 'It makes me almost ashamed to bring it here."
'It shames you but it doesn't shame me. Sapphire would have done this much if Oliver hadn't hijacked it from her since the beginning so here we are," Katie said, opening the door and dropping another batch in front of her which made both Sapphire and Candy groan at the same time.
'Oh Thanks," Sapphire managed to say with a groan.
'Welcome darling," Katie replied with a small smirk.
'You are evil," Candy told her and Katie only shrugged.
'There is a package from you, Sapphire," Belle said as she opened the door, she paused when she saw both Katie and Candy with her.
'Seeing both of you here makes me feel so sorry for the men on your team, you came here under the guise that you want to come and give Sapphire files when both of you can just pile it together, drop it and get out of the place," Belle said and Katie rolled her eyes at her.
'Come on, don't be so uptight, we have to give Sapphire our support every now and then," Candy groused.
'Support, your foot!" Belle replied and went to drop the small box she had been holding when she entered in front of her.
'What is this?" Sapphire asked.
'A package meant for you," Belle said like it is the most obvious thing in the world.
'I mean who dropped it for me?"
'Some deliveryman using helmet and motorbike. He didn't say anything else, just dropped it at the reception and said it is yours. Nothing else and I brought it up here. How dangerous could a small box be?" She asked with a shrug and Candy gasped dramatically.
'How dangerous could it be? Of course it would be harmless until we discovered that it contains a bomb," Candy said.
'Or evidence from a crime scene that the police are investigating, don't let me get started on all the possibilities," Katie added.
'Quit watching too many movies, both of you," Belle told them. 'We will get out of your hair now ma'am." She added, dragging out both Katie and Candy.
Sapphire stared at them with a smile before she returned back to what she was doing. She would get back to the package after she was done with the file she is currently working on, just a few minutes.
But a few minutes in fact turned to a few hours because she totally forgot about the box, she was too immersed in all the files she was sorting out and she didn't deemed it very important which she would have if only she had opened the package sooner.

'Yes, after she took the kids and flew them from France, she arrived at New Zealand and also registered them at an orphanage," Nate informed Alexander the details of the news he had for him.
'What the hell was wrong with her? She would have saved herself all that stress if she had let you know that she had your kids. Why carry them from one orphanage to another like there were a bunch of abandoned kids?" Zayn asked in disbelief, Alexander only glanced at her before turning back to his assistant with a questioning gaze.
'The orphanage director after a while wanted to give the kid up for adoption, a lot of people wanted him because he was a very cute kid and were offering huge sums, more than the ones Ms. Shirley ever offered her to keep the kid safe.
She was tempted by the money and arranged for the kids to be adopted by the highest bidder, all the necessary parts had been fulfilled and the couple were ready to take the kids away when Ms. Shirley got there.
She wanted to make an impromptu visit to the orphanage that day and discovered that. She whisked the kid away from there and after a while found a woman to keep the kid with," He continued his explanation.
'Wow," Zayn said. 'What the hell did she want to get from blackmailing you? As far as I am concerned you loved her a lot, there is no reason for her to want to hold on to you with everything."
'Zayn, keep your mouth shut and let him report as expected of him," Alexander told his friend who was feeling especially chatty that morning.
'Kat Hugh. The woman who she left the kid with was never seen by the neighbor with kids, but they just knew that she was nursing a child since they heard their cries.
Kat was a loner in the community and even though no one saw her pregnant, none of them could walk up to her and ask her where she got her kids.
Just all of a sudden there were no cries from the house and no Kat in sight, it was a week later that the police found her body in a dumpster.
She had been killed by her psychopathic husband and there was no trace of any baby in the house.
The detective in charge didn't believe that she had a baby since the house lacked any evidence of it and it was confirmed through autopsy that she was never pregnant.
The man who killed her was found and questioned, he also said that he is sure that his wife had no baby," He told him and Alexander turned his chair to turn his back to both his assistant and friend, he is preparing himself mentally for whatever news that awaits them.
'So did she ever give the baby to the woman or not?" He asked in a semi-detached voice.
'She did."
'Then the baby?"
'I am sorry Mr. Alexander but the trail went cold once again and this time there is probably no trace. The boys are working hard but you should have no expectation. Ms. Sheila also didn't know where the baby was, she had gone to ask around in the neighborhood about everything that involved the woman but got nothing about her child.
She had an accident three days after, she must be thinking about it in the car or something. That of course, is my assumption," Nate answered and Zayn exhaled, staring at his brooding friend's back.
