'Is it too easy?" Andrew asked and Sapphire shook her head.
'Alexander is injured, he shouldn't move about for too long or he would reopen his wounds, are you not worried about him?" She asked and they shook their heads.
'No, we are not worried the tiniest bit, he is a grown man, rich man at that, he should know how to be careful enough to avoid that,"
'Since he is rich and all, he won't actually do anything by himself, save the picnic and trips for other days, why don't you go to the restaurants that are all around?" Andrea supported her brother.
'You guys are going there tomorrow, don't try to escape us because we would catch you," Andrew said and Sapphire nodded with a smile on her face.
'Okay, I would do as you said," She said and they clapped their hands together. 'What about our time together, I promised that we would all go to the amusement park,"
'That is true, I totally forgot about it and I need a picture to show my classmates that I have parents that spend time together," Andrea said with furrowed brows.
'Are you being bullied at school?" Sapphire asked worriedly and Andrew chuckled.
'Did you really think that someone can walk up to her and tell what to do and still see the next day, in case you don't know mom, your daughter is pretty scary," Andrew said and they all chuckled.
'I just want to show off, those kids are rude, I miss this the most in Gisborne, there isn't friendship based on the numbers of dolls you have," Andrea said with a sign.
'Does that mean that you don't have friends, you don't have a single doll?"
'I don't want them as friends if they listened when their mother told them to count the numbers of shoes their classmates wear when choosing friend either, so it work both way,"
'Should we cancel the date?"
'No!" Both kids yelled at the same time which made Sapphire flinch.
'How about we postpone it to another day?" He tried again.
'No!" They yelled, glaring at him.
'Isn't that the same thing, postponing and canceling," Andrea said and Andrew nodded. 'You are going tomorrow and we would go there on Saturday next week," She added and they all nodded.
'Okay, I promise to be there by then," Sapphire said and they all smiled at each other.
'Let us go and have dinner, I can hear the aroma of the food she is cooking from here," Andrea said.
'Nope, you are just a glutton, if it is just water, you would feel the aroma from here," Andrew said.
'Don't deny that you aren't hungry,"
'I am not!" He said but his stomach chose that moment to growl. Andrew stared down at it in disappointment, Andrea crossed her hand over her chest and raised a brow.
'You were saying something?"
'My stomach was just agreeing with me,"
'Agreeing my ass," She said, already walking away to the door, she opened it and got out of the room, Andrew quickly followed her.
'Thanks for realizing your mistake and amending it, they really missed you," Alexander said and Sapphire smiled.
'It is what brings us closer, thanks for being there for them when I wasn't," She replied and he nodded. 'How is your wound?"
'It is good, you should probably check on it though," he said and Sapphire rolled his eyes at her before moving closer to check it,"
'Hmm," she said, nodding in satisfaction. 'You went to the nurse,"
'A certain someone was worried about it, she would have my head if I let it be like that,"
'I won't have your head, I am not that scary,"
'Maybe you won't yell but you would definitely make a fuss," he said and she glared at him. 'don't worry, I love it when you fuss over me," he said with a teasing smirk and she shook her head at him.
'You are outrageous," she said, redressing his wound, a small smile on her face. 'you didn't asked me how I knew about taking care of people, the gunshot didn't freak me out which means that I have saw and been in close contact with it many times,"
'I was waiting for you to do that by yourself," He told her. 'I don't want to poke my nose in your business too much even though curiosity is killing me now,"
'I used to help Jamie out back in Gisborne, she was a woman who used to be a doctor until she was framed and her license was revoked, she was the one that made me still alive up till this moment, she would not allow me to fall into depression or mental sickness no matter how much I try to do it.
She didn't do it nicely but I don't think that would have worked on me then. She would tell me to get my shit together and leave the house with the kids, she was Hanna's mom, crazy smart teenager, I have adopted that kid because her family are shit, I couldn't leave her alone there, I would let Hanna meet you someday," She explained while Alexander just listened without interrupting her.
'So, the point is that, she would help the local gangsters in our area then, it was a good place to hide, they came with all sort of wounds and she won't ask them how they get it, she once told me that no doctor sees a criminal, all they see is a patient in need of urgent care,"
'That is where you got the skills?" He asked and she nodded, sitting straight. 'She is dead?" he asked tentatively and she nodded.
'Yes, she is dead. She died a year ago, her death anniversary is in a month's time. I feel like she is an angel sent to me at that time, she never gave up no matter how many times I turned away from her, she was stricter than Luci and Claire, sort of the mother my mom never got to be to me,"
'It is okay," He told her, pulling her closer to hug her, she stiffen in surprise before she finally relaxed, she could do with a hug right now,"
'Yeah, it is just that I miss her," she said and sniffed, he pulled her back and wiped the tears at the corner of her eyes.
'It is okay, you have us now and we aren't going anywhere anytime soon, I will always be here when you need me," he told her and she nodded.
His phone rang and he picked up the call, it was Marcus.
'Yeah," he said into the receiver, Sapphire watched as he talked with furrowed brows, he looked so tense. She took his hand in hers and started rubbing it soothingly, hoping to calm him down.
'Jeez, I feel like killing Shirley, you know what, I want you to find every single thing you can find about it and get back to me tomorrow, I am not taking no for an answer," He said and hanged up the call, he intertwined his hand with Sapphire's instead of dropping it and cover his face with it, he didn't want to let her go.
'Is everything okay?"
'Hardly," he replied.
'Wasn't Shirley your ex-girlfriend?" she asked after a while, she couldn't help the curiosity she felt, she admitted that she felt a tad bit jealous, was Alexander still pinned over his ex? After all she heard from people at the party that Shirley was the woman Alexander ever truly loved.
'Yes, she was, even though I wish with every single nerve of mine that she wasn't, I could have done so much better than that vile being," He seethed and Sapphire felt some part of her heart which had been closing in on itself turn to normal, what was going on? Why is she feeling all these?
'Did she do something bad?"
'Is there a word that is worse than bad, because that adjective is an understatement?" he told her. He moved closer to her and turned to stare at her in the eyes.
'Okay, it is time to come clean. I should also tell you a secret of mine," he told her and she swallowed.
'No, don't feel like you have to tell me because of the things I just told you, compared to other things I haven't tell you, this is a normal talk,"
'No, I don't feel pressured but it was about time I told you. Sapphire," he said and paused, turning to stare at her straight into the eyes. 'I can't father a child,"
'What?" She asked with wide eyes.
