Chapter 22: We All Got Along

She paused when she saw the picture of Alyssa on her phone, she was surfing through Instagram. She smiled when she remembered that Sapphire would be going to Alexander's house today with the kids. She found herself wondering about those kids.
They were definitely between three and four years of age and she didn't remember her sister getting pregnant before she left home.
It was even more shocking when granny acted like it was not surprising, she definitely choked on her wine and dropped the glass in her hands when her mother told her.
She felt like seeing Sapphire at that moment and confronting her and adding to that, her mother told her that when she investigated the matter, everything that came up was pretty normal, the kids schooled at a local school at Gisborne and they were modeling for a brand for a while until they came to Washington.
But what she really knows and is sure about is that Alyssa Aldine won't like her sister and her kids.
She raised her glass to her lips and stared at the entrance when she heard voices.
It was Ariel and her fiance, they both walked to where they sat and she just watched them.
"Hi, Mel," Arielle's fiance, Dan greeted her and she nodded her head raising her hand in hello. "I just came to greet you. I had some business around here," he said and turned to Arielle and kissed her goodbye before walking out of the place.
"Are you guys having an argument?" Melissa asked and Arielle sat beside her.
"I feel like since I have put him up to coming here and announced that he proposed to me, he had been distant. It's like a switch was flipped," Arielle said, pouring herself a glass.
"Well, it is either you lie to the family that he had proposed or get married to Aldine," Melissa shrugged. "I only gave you the idea and you followed it for your relationship, it could have been worse. At least he is still dating you and you are not married to someone else."
She said and Arielle put her hand under her chin in thought.
She is not so confident anymore that the rushed decision she made without asking Dan is not affecting their relationship, they were usually lovey dovey until she did what she did but Dan couldn't sit with her for thirty minutes without standing up and claiming he had something to do.
She did that to save the relationship, her grandmother had just dropped the news on her and she is too in love with Dan to get married to someone else and she can't stand him with another lady that isn't those that only considered him as friend.
"Maybe you should sit him down and have a talk, maybe his ego was bruised or that macho stuff. Only the two of you can sort it out, nobody else," Melissa said and dived into the pool, leaving her with her thoughts.
Arielle stared at her and scoffed when she was out of the place.
'Fucking idiot," she muttered as she took her phone and dail a contact.
'Let's get the plan in motion, the company is ready and Melissa has loosened up her guard."

Alexander entered the house and was surprised when he heard laughter resonating from the kitchen.
He was sure that Alyssa would not like Sapphire, not in the least, especially after what Melissa did at the Aldine mansion some weeks ago.
He entered the kitchen and saw them all present, Sapphire was cooking with Luci, Claire sat on a stool and Alyssa sat at the table with the twins.
The kitchen was so big that they were not crowding any space as they all had a hearty conversation.
Andrea raised her head and smiled brightly.
"If it isn't daddy," she said giggling and everyone turned their attention to the door. His eyes came in contact with Sapphire before she averted it to continue what she was doing.
Andrew stood up and went to where he stood with Andrea trailing after him.
"You didn't bring something for us, did you?" Andrea said and Alexander shook her head. Luci chuckled because Alexander just got himself in trouble.
"Did you even think of bringing something?" Andrew asked and he said no.
"And why the fuck are you saying no, you should have at least lied," Andrea asked and Alexander stared at them in surprise, he stared at them like they have sprouted horns on their head.
He probably hasn't seen kids who cursed like they were saying normal words, like it was their second nature.
Claire chuckled at the look on his face, the man must be wondering why they allowed them to curse like that. He must have thought that they were the cutest and most innocent kids in the whole world.
"At least, you could have told us something believable like you forgot it at work or something unbelievable like some psycho snatched it from you on your way home even though you were in the car,"
Andrew said before he turned and walked to the table dejectedly, he looked so pathetic that everyone in the room except their mom and her friends felt sorry for him.
Andrea in turn pouted and stared at him with watery eyes that Alexander who wanted to scold them for cursing just felt sorry for them.
They were trying their tricks on all of them in the and so far they were falling for it.
"Since you are sorry for forgetting, you get to stay here with us in the kitchen, you only have the grace of going up there to shower and change out of those suits that makes you look so out of place," Andrea said raising the stick that was on the table while she sat in front of Alyssa who was surprised when Alexander only smiled and obeyed her.
"Andrew you should follow him and have boys talk and we are going to decide on his punishment when he is back," she called after him and Andrew ran to Alexander and interlocked their hands.
Alicia knows that Alexander has found another favorite, even if the arranged marriage doesn't work, those twins and Alexander are going to work.
They called the guy daddy already.

"So you are hosting the party tomorrow?" Luci asked and Alyssa nodded.
They have moved to the living room after an awkward dinner where the kids tried to make Alexander feed their mom.
They gave up and called them boring before they went to their bed to sleep only after Sapphire and Alexander agreed to sleep on both sides of the bed with the kids between them.
They were probably in another awkward situation that they didn't want to be in but had no choice.
Claire and Alicia went to the rooftop to enjoy the breeze, they invited the two but they declined preferring to stay in.
"We invite all sorts of business tycoons and celebrities to the gala. Grandmother used to host it before she died. So I took it upon myself to continue hosting and grandpa allowed so all is good,"
"So you are the host?" Luci asked and Alyssa giggled.
"I don't look like a good one right,"
"I mean, are you not supposed to be there organizing everything and all that jazz?" Luci asked and Alyssa smiled.
"I just host it, draft the program for the day and give out invites to another cousin of mine who is in charge of the rest."
"I see," Luci said and thought of it for a while before she perked up.
"Can you do me a favor?"
She asked and Alyssa nodded.
"Can you invite Oliver Gray to the party?"
"Oliver Gray?" Alyssa tipped her head to the side. "Isn't that Sapphire's ex fiance?"
"Yes, he should come, we could do with him knowing that Sapphire is not stuck on him and is now engaged to Alexander,"
'I already invited him but changed my mind. I was about to stop him from coming,"
'Then don't! Let all of them come,"
'Why?"
'You know why, think about it, Sapphire is ready to get back at them and where else could she make her presence known to all those idiot than at your gala,"
Alyssa thought about it for a while before she nodded with a bright smile on her lips.
"He would probably come with Heather, I would make sure those bitches from high society are present, it couldn't be better!" She said, smirking.
