Chapter 54

Anastasia glanced at Marcus who was sharpening his large axe. He just found the weapon right around the corner and was already slicing it up for something. Whatever it was, it made her scared to even think about it. Hopefully, he would not end up hurting her with it. A few moments had gone by and it was getting closer to sunset.

Standing up, Anastasia approached the rogue. "I'll go out."

He gazed at her face with question. "Why? So you can run away and come back to your Alpha?"

Anastasia sighed. "No, I'm gonna take a bath. There's no water here and I'm certain there's a river nearby."

With a long look at her face, he stood up and prepared himself. "I'll take you there."

She looked at him with a wary eye. "I won't strip in front of you."

"You can do whatever you want, sweet Luna. I won't look," he promised.

She shook her head. "I can't take a bath with you watching me. Do you realize how awkward that is? Especially with what just happened last night."

Marcus' face turned serious. "Well it's either I'll take you there or you won't have any bat at all."

Anastasia sighed. It wasn't like it was her fault she felt so dirty. She hadn't taken a bath since yesterday and this was all because of him. A moment later, they were outside the door, seeing the red pinkish skies and the sun smiling down on her. Marcus led her to the River and she enjoyed climbing rocks. The sight of the tall trees made her feel so small and fragile.

"Here," Marcus introduced, showing her the sight of a river she had never seen. The waters rushed and the sound was peaceful and calming. The sun setting across the horizon added touch to the beautiful scenery. It was amazing and breathtakingly beautiful.

"Enjoy your time, Luna," Marcus spoke from behind her before turning around and looking the other way.

Anastasia looked at him warily before making her way to the river. She stripped off her clothes, leaving them behind her as she soaked herself into the warm water. It was refreshing and truly stress relieving. As she pushed her hair back, she took a quick glance behind her and found Marcus looking at her with intensity and passion. When he caught her eye, he quickly looked away.

Anastasia shook her head in disappointment. Men would always be men. She took her time, cleansing herself and soaking her body in the warm water, hoping it would take away the dirt from her body. As the sun began to rest, drawing blood in the skies, Anastasia realized it was time to leave. She headed back to the rocks, not even at all bothered by the fact that Marcus was now staring at her with pleasure.

He handed her his coat and covered it around her shoulders. She accepted it without disapproval and they headed back to the house. As he closed the door behind her, Anastasia began the fire to get some warmth from the cold.

  "Your shirt.."

Anastasia looked back, seeing Marcus staring down at her worn shirt. "What?"

"Why is your shirt ripped several times?" he questioned, now looking at her with suspicion.

Anastasia took a look at the shirt he was referring to and realized he's found the visible rips from the ends. Flashbacks of when she had ripped her shirt into pieces and threw them out of the car surged through her mind in quick seconds. She had purposely done it to leave signs, because she knew her Alpha Draco will come to save her from this hell. And even if he didn't, she hoped someone would. But the look on Marcus' face betrayed the truth. Perhaps this would not go well as she had planned. He was mad at her and was getting ready to unleash his wrath.

"Why did you rip your shirt?" He demanded, standing tall in front of her and demanding authority. When she still didn't answer, he laughed evilly. "Do you think he'll come? Do you think he'll save you and become the knight in shining armor? Well, guess what? He won't. Because I already sent someone to kill him."

Anastasia's eyes widened in shock. "What do you mean?"

"I sent an assassin who's trained to kill.. to murder your precious Alpha. I'm sure you would enjoy the story once he's dead."

She couldn't keep the tears from falling yet she tried her best to glare at him with disgust. She didn't want him to see her vulnerable state. "I thought you fight fair!" she said. "You sent an assassin to kill him and yet here you are in your nest, acting like you did nothing! If you want to challenge an Alpha and take his position, take a stand and fight him! Don't be a coward!"

He chuckled evilly. "I'm not being a coward, sweetheart. I'm being smart. I know once he finds me, he'll have a bunch of strong werewolves to fight me as well. I know I won't stand a chance. You're asking me to take a stand and fight his army on my own? I don't think so. You know, i think I'm gonna stay here and wait for his death news to arrive. And only then will I celebrate."

"You'," Anastasia murmured, "you're a coward!"

"Say whatever you want. As long as I win, that's all that matters." Then he approached her with a smirk. "Let's see if you can still call me a coward once your Alpha is dead."

His statement alone destroyed her heart. What if he was already dead? What would she do then? There would be no hope, no strength to live anymore, no desire to love ever again. What would become of her? She could even feel her heart thumping loud inside her chest with anxiety.

With his distasteful remark, Marcus still managed to touch her face with his hand, putting his hand behind her neck and holding it. Slowly he leaned down as if to kiss her on the lips and he was even pulling her head down for a kiss.

Just before he could touch her lips, the door slammed open with a loud thud and right there stood Alpha Draco with his glorious half naked body and beautiful chaotic hair. Heaving in deep breaths, his darkened eyes found her.

"Get your filthy hands off my baby doll," his deep voice warned with contained anger, his hands becoming fists by his sides.
