Chapter 41

"Have you found him?" Draco questioned first before everything.
Edward shook his head. "Not yet."
"Don't stop until you find him."
Edward nodded his head in agreement. "He won't last long. I doubled our men guarding in every border."
Who was this rogue? She badly want to know. For the first time ever, she felt scared for her life. Especially now after hearing Draco's story. But she had to be brave and strong to survive this.
"Tell me immediately if you find something."
"I will," Edward answered with a curt bow. Just as he was about to leave, he stopped and turned to look at the Alpha. "You know, I can smell something's different."
A frown knitted on the Alpha's face. "What is it?"
"A familiar scent."
Anastasia watched as his hands turned to fists. "They said the rogue didn't have a scent. He must have drank a forbidden potion," Edward explained.
"A forbidden potion?" she repeated, confused.
The Alpha nodded. "There's a potion you can drink to make your scent undetectable. This is forbidden in every pack. Punishment will be fatal if you're caught red-handed."
"Basically, werewolves can smell a scent from afar?" she asked, still new to a lot of things.
"Every werewolf has a scent. Just like you do."
"Something's happened," Edward stated suddenly. "I'll be back to inform you, Alpha Bourne," he bowed his head and quickly left the room. Anastasia could feel her heart beating loud inside her chest.
"Are you scared?" Draco asked, as he urged her to come to him.
She met him with a hug. "A little."
What could she say? She had never been in this kind of danger before. She didn't even know what she would do if she ever faced real danger right in her face.
"Don't worry. I'll be here," he assured, as if hearing her thoughts.
"I know." She hugged him tight but pulled back when the sound of her stomach grumbling interrupted them.
"Hungry?" he asked, looking down at her, amused.
She gazed up at him, cheeks blushing in embarrassment. "Yeah."
"I'll have them bring food here. For now, just stay here with me, alright?"
"Okay."
Soon enough, Jenny came in with a tray in her hands. She brought a lot of food and drinks. Anastasia looked at the roasted beef and large strawberry milkshake, feeling her stomach getting hungrier. Thank god Jenny came in an instant.
As soon as it was served in front of her, she started digging in. Jenny's chuckle echoed in her ears. "Help yourself, Luna."
Mouth full, she looked up at her, smiling. Bowing down in front of them, Jenny left with a smile on her face. After about an hour, Anastasia ended up sitting on the couch with a full belly. She watched as Draco stood in front of the custom window that was wide and large, showing the full view of the forest.
"Relax," she said, trying to ease his tension. "You'll find the rogue."
"I can't rest until we find him," he worried, pacing back and forth. "Not if he is who I think he is."
With a sigh, she stood up and walked up to him. She hugged his back and he stopped to turn to look at her, a frown written on his face. She wrapped her arms around his waist and she felt him kissing her hair.
"I don't wanna lose you," he murmured near her ear. She took a deep breath of his scent as she leaned her head against his chest.
"You won't." She looked up at him then, blue eyes sparkling against the bright sunset. "Do you feel better now?" she asked and she received a sly smile.
"A little."
"Good. Let me just go to the bathroom and I'll be back real quick ." Then she stood up on her tiptoes and kissed him on the cheek.
"Make it quick," he warned, eyes exhausted.
"Yes, sir," she said, putting her arm above her head as if saluting him. She laughed at his reaction and quickly got out of the room. Out the door, she headed down at the end of the hallway and into the comfort room. It wasn't her fault that she just received her favorite strawberry milkshake. She finished all of it in one sitting. Jenny really knew what to serve. Soon as Anastasia entered the comfort room, she looked at herself in the mirror to fix her hair. But then, she saw something different.
An unfamiliar face behind her.
A soft gasp escaped her lips but the man behind her quickly covered her mouth with his large hand. His eyes were cold and deadly and his mouth was covered with a black mask. His hair a dishevelled mess, as if he had been through a rough day. Dirt and grass were painted across his dirty clothes.
Frozen, Anastasia could feel something cold on her neck. In the mirror, she could see a knife held against her throat. She couldn't do anything. Couldn't even mutter a single word. An evil smile was playing on the stranger's lips as he whispered something in her ear.
"Don't scream."
