Chapter 20

Anastasia could feel his warm skin against hers. His strong arms hugged her. Her chest was heaving against him as she gasped for air. Draco looked at me, drops of water rolling down his face. He looked so handsome like this. She could just feel herself getting hot.

Not to mention she was only wearing a sexy two piece swimsuit, which showed too much skin. This was too close for comfort. "What do you think you're doing?" Anastasia whisper-yelled to his face. He literally surprised her that she could almost hear her heart beating fast and loud inside her chest. Scared, she clung onto him tightly. "I can't swim."

He laughed roughly. "Don't be scared. Didn't I tell you I'll always be here to save you?"

"What if you're the reason I need to be saved?" she countered, rolling her eyes at him. He was so tall that he could reach the floor of the pool.

"Whatever it is, as long as I'm here, I'll protect you."

"I don't need protection. I'd even appreciate it if you leave me alone."

"That's the last thing that'll come to my mind."

He took them to the corner of the pool and lifted her up, letting her sit on the side of the pool as he stood in between her parted legs. "You have no idea how much I'm resisting every single moment with you," he murmured, looking up at her as if he admired her. Anastasia felt tingles all over her skin. The way he touched her and the way he looked at her. She couldn't help but slowly fall for him and his sweet gentle words.

"No matter what you do," she muttered under her breath, her hands touching his skin around his strong shoulders. "I'll always make your life miserable."

He grinned as if he found it funny. "It's already miserable enough as it is. But you.." He took her hand from his shoulder and kissed it softly. That little action freed butterflies in her belly in an instant. "You made it better."

Anastasia took his hand off her. "Do you really think I'll believe any word you say? That I'll accept you just like that?" This time, she would stand her ground. She'd make sure he'd see it.

"No," he answered simply. "That's why I'll do everything I can and I'll wait.. Until you can accept me. But for now, your safety is my priority." He took her hand yet again and intertwined their fingers together. Right then, she felt tingles all over her skin, making her feel so giddy inside.

"Do you believe in soul mates?" he questioned, his brown eyes sparkling and gazing up at her.

Anastasia wondered at this sudden question. "I've read about them.. Don't tell me you actually believe in that?"

"You and I.. We're destined for each other," he stated slowly as if waiting for her to understand yet hoping that she wouldn't think he was crazy. Well, she was already thinking he was. "You see.. All of us here.. are werewolves. That's why we live far away from the city. And you.. you're my mate."

Speechless, she looked at him, wondering if he should already be in a mental hospital. First, he was talking about soul mates and now he was saying he's a werewolf.

"You're drunk, aren't you?" she asked, so confused. He couldn't be a werewolf. Anastasia had always known that this mansion and the people seemed unusual. But that couldn't be it.

He chuckled at her.  "It takes a lot for a werewolf like me to get drunk, baby doll."

He really was drunk, wasn't he? With a sigh, she took his hands off her. "Get yourself together," she told him. "I'm cold. I'll go get my shawl."

"Let me get it for you."

  "It's okay. I'll get it."

As she moved to stand up from where she was, he stopped her. "You'll come back here, right?"

Reluctantly, she nodded her head. He was really cute, looking up at her like that, as if begging her to stay.

A part of her was urging her to believe that he was telling the truth but another part of her was telling her it was just so impossible. Come to think about it, she had seen a large wolf in the woods the first time. She had never seen a wolf that big before.. And the wolf statue in the library.. She quickly shook the thought out of her head. That was just too magical to be real. Anastasia didn't even believe in ghosts.

Standing up, she headed towards the table where she left her shawl and covered it around herself. When she looked back, she saw her Alpha Draco talking to one of the girls that she had seen around here. The girl was also in the pool, getting closer to him. Looking closely, Anastasia could see her laughing at whatever he was saying.

Anastasia instantly felt herself getting angry as she gritted her teeth. She could feel her heartbeat quickening and thudding inside her chest, her hands turning to fists. What was the girl doing there? And why was she feeling like this? Why was she upset and angry? Anastasia had to mentally slap herself. Maybe she was the crazy one and not him. She wanted to go over there and get her away from him. She wanted to tell her and everyone that he was.. hers.

  Get yourself together, Anastasia.

Calming myself, Anastasia thought of what she should be focusing on. She needed to find a way to escape while he's busy flirting with that girl. Anastasia looked around her and she saw everyone drunk and having fun. Edward was beside Jenny who was looking so angry at him.

Anastasia chuckled. Jenny must be angry that Edward threw her on the water. When Anastasia found that almost everyone was immersed in what they're doing, she quietly and quickly walked towards the large gate that was visible from afar.

It was kind of dark there, even with dim lights. Making sure no one saw her, she walked and walked until there's no one else in sight. Once she reached as far away as possible, she took the backpack that she had prepared behind a tree earlier. It contained her clothes and some food, too.

Anastasia looked up at the large gate with doubt. It was locked, naturally. How was she supposed to get through here? Well, there was only one way to do this. Taking a deep breath, she prepared herself to climb up the tall gate. Thank God, there was no sharp thingy at the top of it.

As she started climbing up, she could feel the cool breeze blowing against her legs. Argh, why did she have to be wearing this sexy swimsuit? Good thing she had her shawl to cover herself with.

Her heart pace quickened as she looked over the dark forest before her. You might think she wasn't prepared for the dangers outside the mansion. She brought a knife with her and also a box of matches.

She knew she'd be needing it soon enough. As she tried to get down, she could feel something painful on her arm. When she looked over, she could see blood dripping. She hadn't even been out for more than a minute and she already hurt myself. Focus, Anastasia. Looking ahead, she thought of her father and her home. She might get lost but.. she knew she would get there somehow.

Once she successfully got down on the other side of the gate, she took heavy breaths. This felt almost exciting and rebellious but that wasn't freaking easy. She needed to be braver and stronger than this. As she took a step forward, she heard a deep chuckle behind her.

Anastasia stood frozen and her heart almost stopped as well. When she turned her head, she saw Alpha Draco leaning against the wall, his brown eyes burning as he looked her in the eye.

"Where do you think you're going?"
