"I think I'm kind of getting the hang of it," she answered.
"That's good to know."
"What kind of place is this exactly?"
"I don't know how to explain it to you. I think it's best for you to hear it from the Alpha."
What was so mysterious about this place that she couldn't know? It wasn't like they're hiding dead bodies around here, were they?
"There's going to be a pool party tonight, wanna come?" he asked, showing her the large pool near the big window. Anastasia looked over the pool and towards the forest that surrounded the place. Had they been living like this? Away from the city and the outside world?
A bright idea suddenly came into my mind. This could finally be her way to escape. If the pool party would be at night time, she would have a higher chance of escaping without anyone noticing.
"Sure," she finally answered, smiling at him.
"Okay then." Edward walked away, leading her towards a large double door. When he opened it, Anastasia gasped in shock. This was the largest library she had ever seen in real life. There were hundreds of books everywhere. In the middle stood a large wolf statue.
"A wolf?" she questioned, confused with it. What exactly did the wolf symbolize? Last time, she also saw a big real wolf outside that looked just like this.
"Err, yeah. This is our main library. So if you're bored and want to read, you can go here. Most of these books tell our history. I know you're confused right now but someday you'll understand."
"I'm not sure I ever will understand. This place is a mystery and you guys won't even tell me anything."
"Someday, you will, Luna," he said. "Someday."
They left the library and headed outside the mansion. Anastasia saw a large garden with all kinds of different flowers. It shone so wonderfully that she couldn't help but appreciate it.
"This is so beautiful."
"You like it?" he asked, beaming at her.
"Yeah, I used to have a little garden back home. I wonder what happened to it now." Anastasia couldn't help but feel sad about it.
"I'm sure it's being taken care of," he spoke, trying to make her feel better.
"I hope so, too." She looked at the flowers, thinking of so many questions that she wanted to ask. She had no idea where she was. No idea at all. Looking at the mansion, she was still at awe with its size and beauty.
"May I ask, where are we exactly?"
"This place has no name," Edward answered. "It's just called after our Alpha."
A place that had no name? Now, that's interesting.
"You seem like you all know each other so well. It's kind of like brotherhood, isn't it?"
He chuckled. "If you say so. We all grew up together so I guess I can say we see each other like brothers. We hunt together. We fight together. In victory, we feast together. And in defeat, we lose.. together."
"I think that's really inspiring," Anastasia commented. "You don't leave anyone behind. Sometimes, I wish I had a lot of siblings. I don't know what it's like to have a lot of people in my home."
"You do now."
She looked at him then. This place? Her home? Oh, she didn't know about that. "Why am I even truly here? The Alpha said that I was in danger. All my life, I haven't done anything cruel. So why would anyone want to harm me?"
"Believe me, there might be reasons or no reason at all. Some just want to watch a strong Alpha on his knees. It's not for me to explain but if you could just have a little faith. Trust in our Alpha as I have come to trust in him. There's a reason why he is our leader and he has good intentions for what he does."
"I.. I don't know what to say."
"That's alright, Luna. If you have something bothering your mind, I'll be here to talk with you. But for now, we should head back."
"Why?"
"Alpha Bourne is looking for you."
As they headed back to the Alpha's office, Anastasia saw him still sitting where he'd been all day, looking so mean and scary. He glanced at me as she heard the door behind her closing, leaving only the two of them.
"I-I'm going to the pool party tonight," she blurted out, not knowing what to say. He didn't say anything for a while as he looked at her, like he was trying to read what she was thinking.
"Why do you want to go?" he finally questioned.
"Because.. I haven't been to a pool party before."
Well, it was true. She didn't have a lot of friends back then. It just always felt like.. she didn't belong.
"And why should I let you?"
"Because.. I want to," she reasoned, lifting her chin in defense.
"Come here."
Raising her eyebrow, she hesitantly went over to him. He tapped his lap and she gave him a confused look. He wanted her to sit on his lap? With a ridiculous look on her face, she just stood beside him. With one look at her, he took her off guard as he swept her off her feet.
Anastasia fell on his lap with a gasp. "What are you doing?"
"I'll let you go if.. You'll kiss me on the cheek," he said, giving her a sly smile.
