"I know. You must have a lot of questions in your mind. If so, I'll happily answer them before I send you off."
Send me off?
I really don't understand this goddess. As a Divine being, i was so rude to her yet she was still calmly speaking to me as if i was the most polite person in the world. She's even being so generous to answer my questions?
Is this even real?
I pinched myself.
"Ouch," I said in shock, so i wasn't dreaming. I looked back at her again and noticed how she was looking at me with such amusement in her eyes. The only thing that I've interpreted about her eyes as she was looking down on me.
So that's it.
"Answer my questions? don't make me laugh, you're not even taking me seriously right now." I rolled my eyes.
She chuckles, "There you go again, are you perhaps judging me by a mortal's standard?"
"What? am I wrong? you're obviously looking down on me, so how can I trust a word you say?"
"Child, I am not looking down on you. I am just astonished. to see a lucky star such as yourself. A soul that comes once in a million years, how could I not look at you with such eyes?"
"Lucky star?"
She nods. "Yes, you are a lucky star."
"Lucky?" I laughed. "How funny, last time I checked, I was causing everyone's misfortunes around me."
"That is part of being a lucky star, my child. You are not causing anyone's misfortune but only absorbing it. Doing so, they will only live one lifetime with miserable outcomes, as they get reincarnated to new bodies, all those misfortunes will be no more." She smiles. "Haven't my daughter ever told you not to judge anything by its cover?"
My knees gave out and i fell on the soft ground beneath me. I can't believe it, even though I couldn't fully comprehend what she was saying, I only understood one thing, and that is everyone whom I thought suffered because of me was given something bigger in return.
They were given great lifetimes to come.
I sobbed, covering my face in tears as I cried in relief. All those times of blaming myself all just seemed to vanish. I was thankful enough to be a lucky star just like she said.
When my sobs become calmer, I asked her something that was plaguing my mind for a while now. "I want to know... if you cursed your daughter to save her, so I saved my loved ones because I was a lucky star?"
"No, it's because you broke the curse, being the lucky star you are. Everything fell into place once you were born in the world."
I shook my head. "You know what, that's what I still don't get. Gina told me that Gandiva caused the curse to be broken. But how can a weapon suddenly break the curse that's been going on for almost a millennium?"
She sighs, "The reason why it's been going on for a millennium is due to the fact that the host's body refused to use the weapon during the onset of the curse, every girl died without even laying a hand on the answer beside them. Gandiva only appears whenever the hosts are in danger, so isn't that enough clue to use it at that time? Yet I underestimated the love between mates. Even after a millennium passed, not one tried to pick up the weapon to kill their mate. It was a miscalculation on my part. At that point, I couldn't control the curse anymore, it was adapting itself and spreading so much that I had to force an oracle to be involved in the curse."
She pauses and frowns. "I thought she'll realize the answer due to her ability, but she still died. Yet I do not fully regret sending her, for she's the first one to break the loop of the curse. Before her death, she and her mate were able to come up with a plan for you, it may be the cruelest path you had to take but if it were to save your life, the both of them were willing to risk everything in their lifetime to help you."
What?
Why is that person doing so much for me? i still don't get it.
I frowned back, "Why would a stranger help me to that extent?"
"Stranger?" She shook her head. "Your brother, Jason was also part of the curse, he was the past host of Yasha."
I flinched not expecting her to say that. As soon she said that I finally realize the horror of what she explained earlier. "You're saying, that my brother and his mate made me walk a cruel path?"
"It was the only thing that can prolong your life. If you hadn't avoided your mate continuously, then after a year, you would've experienced the same fate as other people, without even knowing the truth about the weapon within you."
What?
"It's all planned?" My voice crumbles in disbelief.
Unfortunately, she nodded.
"Everything?"
"The war between BlueStone and RedBloodMoon was so you could meet the unfortunate child in Stone pack. The oracle and your brother had it all planned out, even meeting you at this moment is all that she has seen before. Both of them died knowing you'll be fine after they leave."
My heart tightens.
The times that I would always fight and blame my brother slapped me across my face. I was so immature that i even hated my brother to an extent. To think that he and his mate planned to break the curse to help me was something beyond me.
I don't even blame them even if I walked that cruel path they made me walk to. I cried, my tears started to fall again as I apologized repeatedly to my brother and to his mate. Especially to my brother who I've thought all this time was a jerk.
I sobbed yet I was still able to manage a smile. "You jerk, I still hate you for emptying that fricking milk of mine."
If I were given a chance to meet my brother again, I would really smack his head and hug him right now. But I know that's impossible right now so I just prayed that he's free now since the curse was now broken.
I really hope being a lucky star affected also my brother.
But after smiling, my mood turned when I was reminded of my mate once again. It dawned on me that he died just like Gina said. If that was true, then just how?
Since i had the opportunity to ask, I took a step in front of her. "Tell me, how did my mate die?"
"He jumped in with you."
I laughed. "What? Zyrus was still possessed at that time."
"No, you broke the curse, did you not? Of course he was released from it. As soon as he saw fall, he jumped in with you. In the end, the arrow pierced through your heart also pierced his as he embraced you." She said, raising her hand and a fairy sat by it.
So it was because of me?
But if he was injured by the arrow, then isn't that a good thing? That just means we get to reincarnate right?
"Can I ask-"
She cuts me off. "I'll grant you one wish before I tell Horus, the God to open the reincarnation well for you."
"Then.." I trailed off.
There were a lot of things running through my mind. Should I wish to revive us and be together again? but one thing was messing with my decision, isn't being reincarnated means being cleansed?
So.. I'm gonna lose all of my memories?
I lowered my head, "I've decided. I don't want to lose my memories, not ever. Not even after I die in the future lifetimes."
Her eyes widened. "I expected you would say you wanted to be with him, looks like you believe that anyway so there's no need to wish for it?"
"I believe in him, he promised me."
She smiles. "Very well, I grant you that wish."
"Thank you." I sighed in relief.
"I've granted wishes to those who affected by the curse, do you want to know what your mate and your past lover wished for? But I can only let you choose one." She said, the portal opening beside her appears.
I gulped.
She must be talking about Zyrus and Charles. So they went on ahead me already? To think I was the last one to arrive here.
I sighed.
Truthfully, I didn't need to be worried about what Zyrus asked for, I'll find and be with him anyway as long as I have these memories with him. But what piqued my curiosity the most was Charles, just what did he wish for after living a life so miserable?
I truly pity him.
In the end, he never had anything he wanted in his hands.
{"Tell me, Did you ever love me?"}
My heart clenched when I remembered his words. I can't even tell him I did, he died so miserably just like that. I feel so guilty that even being a lucky star won't be able to make up for it.
I closed my eyes briefly before opening them to stare back at her. "I want to know what Charles wished for."
"How unexpected." She said. "Here see it for yourself."
