Chapter 202

My chest rose and fell heavily, and my breathing hitch. It’s like I’m near to having a panic attack. Tears that I didn’t even know I had started streaming down my face, but it’s not because of pity, pain, or fear. It was all tears of indescribable and immeasurable fury radiating in me.
My eyes turned blood red, and my blood boiled in uncontrollable madness.
Madness that seemed to be even surpassed by that familiar man on the video.
The doors of the room where Flora was captivated flew open as it was knocked down with great force. A deafening roar echoed in the entire room, alerting the rapist, who had that wicked smile on their lips.
They turned around and snapped at the attacker who ruined their feast, but they didn’t even have the time to speak a word before the man went on a rampage.
It was Kylian. His eyes were red, his fangs were showing as he opened his mouth in a roar, and his nails were already elongated into sharp, deadly claws.
His muscles bulged in on that expensive and custom-tailored suit I chose for him, evidently showing that he was so angry that his strength and wolf’s had merged while he was in human form.
He pushed one of the rapists to the other wall so hard that the wall cracked. Pulling his coat off, he hastily put it on to Flora, ensuring no skin of her would show.
Flora drastically cried and wrapped her arms around his nape while acting like a child narrating how she had been greatly wronged.
“They… T-they…” She could speak properly, so Kylian did the next thing that took me completely off-guard, shutting every rationality in my mind.
He wrapped his arms around her and patted her head, whispering something to calm her nerves down.
“Those bastards! They lied!” Trisha shouted in anger, growling in my head. “They weren’t having a meeting; they were looking for Flora! Kylian is late for this important event because of that fucking bitch?”
She was infuriated beyond words, while I was so angry that I was speechless. I uttered nothing and blankly stared at the man on the screen.
He stood properly after making sure Flora was fine before he looked back at those men with blazing anger, ready to kill on sight.
I smiled—a bitter smile void of any emotions but a sudden realization of the truth I had been so blinded to-
Flora was his mate, and no matter what happens, he’ll never completely forget her. He’ll always care.
And the sadder truth was… that he was also willing to risk his life to save Flora.
I said in a low voice only I could hear while letting out a sarcastic laugh, “Guess I’m not so special after all.”
At first, I thought he saved me because he loved me unconditionally, but seeing the video now, it looked like it was all just my delusion. Because in his eyes, Flora and I were no different. Maybe he did love us both… but I’m not one to share a mate.
Rumors exploded in the room. Hands started pointing a finger at Kylian’s face on the screen, showing vivid shock.
“Isn’t that Alpha Kylian?”
“Yes, that’s him!”
“I heard he reconciled with his Luna already. Why is he with that slut again?”
“Luna? Which Luna?”
“Haven’t you heard? That chosen mate he chose rather than that slut. It’s a shame though; his chosen mate is an Omega.”
Gasps were heard. “Really?”
“Yes, but she’s known to be kind. Poor Luna Della. I heard she’s really power despite her humble rank, and she’s very kind.”
Someone clapped their hands upon remembering something. “Yes, I heard something recent too! She was a huge reason why the Dark Moon Pack managed to prevent the Crimson Pack from spreading their addictive and threatening drugs in their pack!”
“You’re right. She also saved many of their pack members!”
Women gasped in anger as they simultaneously asked in worry and anger. “How can Alpha Kylian do that to a kind soul like her?”
Someone then uttered something I just realized, and it’s one that pierced through my heart the most. “It’s really a pity.” She shook her head and continued, “The bonds among fated mates are hard to break. Not even with deep love.”
“Alpha Kylian is surely making a big mistake. Flora is a despicable woman! She deserves all of that. He shouldn’t have saved her! She’s not worthy of being saved at the expense of Luna Della’s feelings!”
Listening to the crowd’s words that showed them siding with me supposedly made me happy, but unexpectedly, it didn’t. Instead, it felt more like another sharp weapon being thrown at me. It's a slap of reality, to be exact.
My legs started to go weak, and before my mind registered it, I stumbled and almost fell down.
“Della!” Jackson shouted as he attentively caught me with his arm from behind me. “Are you okay?”
Instead of replying, I stared blankly at him. I’m exhausted. I just… I don’t know anymore…
Jackson wrapped his arms around my shoulder, supporting me in standing upright as we faced the crowd of guests.
He tapped the mic to get everyone’s attention and started announcing, “Everyone, I think it’s the right time to let all of you know something.”
“My sister here, the Lycan princess, disguised herself as an omega to be Kylian’s Luna for a reason she holds dearly.” Jackson tightened his hand on my shoulder to comfort me and give me strength, continuing, “Initially, I wanted to officially announce his status as Della’s husband to everyone. It seems unnecessary now.”
“He already broke his pledge to care and love–”
Jackson’s words were interrupted when the massive doors of the hall were pushed open, attracting everyone’s attention.
Blinking, I saw a man break in. He was panting as though he were running fast. His clothes were wrinkled, but I guess it’s from the gith. I had to congratulate him, though; there’s no trace of blood in him or anything that showed he went into a fight.
Looking around, he walked awkwardly in the center of the room, approaching me while everyone stared at him strangely.
When he got closer to me, he looked directly into my eyes and urgently explained, “Della, I’m sorry for being late. I had a small situation I needed to attend to. That’s why I’m late.”
I didn’t reply. Finally, feeling the strange air in the room, he looked around and realized the judgeful eyes everyone had on him and the fact that I was on the stage.
He furrowed his eyebrows and confusingly asked, “What’s happening?”
His voice was so tender and loving as if he didn’t do anything that would hurt my feelings. Finally, the tears I had been holding for so long streamed down my face.
Kylian asked and tried to touch me, but I avoided him. “What’s happening? Why are you crying? Are you hurt somewhere?”
Seeing as I had no plan to reply, he continued to coax me. “Babe, please stop crying. I feel like dying whenever I see you cry.”
And just then, in a very great timing, something on the screen took everyone’s attention as it echoed through the entire hall.
It’s him. It’s Kylian, roaring in a dominating stance using his alpha voice, “Flora is my fated mate! I’ll take her today no matter what it takes!”
