“That’s what I’ve been talking about. It’s been happening for days already. I don’t know when it started, but cases like that keep on happening.”
For the past few days, the neighboring pack had been encountering strange occurrences wherein they saw traces of someone lurking in their forest.
So far, none of them had seen who it was or from which pack it was. They weren’t even sure if was a spy or a rogue. Nonetheless, cases like that would seem alarming.
We might have been official allies, but they were kind enough to alarm us about it as well.
Gidon, the emissary of their pack came to us to report about it as per his Alpha's orders.
“I'd alert my warriors. Thank you for sharing such significant information with us. I'd surely repay it greatly and is very willing to aid you solving this case,” I said formally, standing up as a sign that it ended the conversation.
Taking cue, Gidon also stood up and shook his hand with mine.
“On behalf of our pack, I thank you as well, Alpha Kylian.”
I looked at Henry, signalling him to escort Gidon out. Meeting my gaze, he nodded his head.
“Please…” he respectfully said and pointed at the door with his hands, motioning for him to walk first as he’d guide him out.
“And send my re–” With a smile on my face, I was about to say my regards to his alpha when a troubling emotion surged within me.
My froze on my place as my heartbeat tremendously beat fast. In my subconsiousness, I could also feel my wolf running in circles feeling anxious.
“What is it?” I asked.
Obviously, he was trying to take my attention and he knew it more than me what was happening.
“I think I heard something… It’s so distant though…” he said, stoping his movements and heigtening his senses, helping both of us to get a clearer hearing.
“Alpha, what–”
Henry must have seen my reaction and tried to ask me but I immediately held my hand up, stopping him from making further noise.
Closing my eyes, I focused all my senses on my ears and listened carefully on my surroundings.
“Kylia… help… apartment…” My heart skipped a bit. I knew that voice, it can’t be. Can it?
“Alpha…”
“Shut it!” I scolded, taking Henry and Gidon in shock as they look at me but I couldn’t care less.
I listened more carefully, this time, though I still couldn’t get all the message, what I heard made more sense. “Kylian… Help… Omega Apartment…”
“It’s Della!” Both my wolf and I exclaimed.
Without wasting time, I tried to run out of the house but stopped mid way. I looked at Gidon, and said in a hurry, “I’m sorry I have an urgent matters to attend to. Henry will assist you out.”
They both looked at me with a confused and questioning eyes, but I knew that I didn’t have much time to spare.
With that, I ran as fast as I could toward the omega’s apartment that was on the far end of the pack territory.
Why would she be there? I wondered.
Her mindlink was so weak that I could barely hear all of her message. But I was sure of one thing, she needed my help. And by how weak her mindlink was, I could already conclude that she was in great danger with her wolf also in jeopardy.
I could no longer even remember since when was the last time did she asked me for help. All I knew was that since our relationship went on the drain, she never once sought me for anything.
That was the main reason why I was so fearful right now.
Cold sweats started to form on my forehead. But it wasn’t from the run. Instead, it was from the overwhelming panic that was slowly crepting into my soul.
I had been in many fights. I’ve been in a bloody battles, and I’ve been abused by my father whom I fear since my childhood. And despite all that, I face it all with a strong heart.
Only now did I ever felt like I’m on verge of losing something so important in my life that I’d die if I fail to protect it.
Della’s face flashed in my mind as the wind blew into my face by how fast I was running.
As soon as I arrived at the apartment, I kicked the main door down and planned to open the door one after another to look for her since I didn’t hear her specify where she was.
But as soon as the wooden door was knocked down, a rusty scent of blood reached my nostril that made my heart skipped a beat.
“No! That can’t be! It’s not hers, is it?” I whispered in panic, not even being rational enough to properly take a swift and confirm if it’s her blood or not.
“Della…” I whispehred with longing and pain as I rushed to follow where the bloody scent was coming from.
With it’s fain scent, it should be coming from upstairs. While running, I bumped into a weakling who suddenly fell on the ground from our impact.
“Ralph? What are you doign here?” I asked confusingly as I stared at the state he was in.
His hair was disheveled, his cream shirt was stained with dust and dirt as if it wasn’t the first time he fell on the ground. What’s more, his shoes weren’t even the correct pair.
By how fast his heart was beating and how much he was panting, I’d say he had rushed in here.
“I…” He kept looking around anxiously and continued, “I can feel that Stella is in danger. Why are you here, Alpha? Are you looking for her as well?”
I shocked my head. “I’m here for Della.”
His eyebrows furrowed in question as well, but we didn’t had much time to question each other.
He’s looking for Stella? Della wouldn’t be in fight with her, would she?
I’m sure that no matter how jealous or angry she was, she wouldn’t be so irrational to the point of putting herself in danger over their personal conflict.
Della’s just a mere omega while Stella was an Alpha’s daughter. It wouldn’t be wise for her to fight with her as she’d only be in huge danger.
Nonetheless, if Stella ever hurt Della, I would never let her go in peace. I’d punish her even if I risk getting in war with the Lock Heart Pack.
They might be powerful, but no one has the right to hurt the woman I love. I’d surely make anyone who hurt Della pay a heavy price.
I was about to walked of, but heard Ralph’s heavy breathing.
He looked so anxious and worried which almost mirrored what I was feeling inside.
Glancing back at him who was dripping with sweat, I couldn’t help but thought, ‘As an omega who aren’t strong and didn’t have a heightened senses, he’d surely have a hard time in finding Stella.’
Feeling empathy, I let out a sigh and said, “Follow me.”
His eyes widened in surprise, but he immediately nodded his head and followed my steps.
As I approached another door in the sixth floor, I heard a voice of a woman I thought I wouldn’t hear so soon inside the pack.
It’s Margot!
