Chapter 86
1490words
I dropped the pregnancy stick and held tight on the edge of the sink as my legs went weak in an instant.
On the small screen of the pregnancy test were the two red lines that slowly formed for the three minutes I was waiting.
My hands shook as a mixture of various emotions ran through me. Tears were starting to form in the corner of my eyes as everything started to overwhelm me in one go.
“It’s positive…” I informed Trisha, though I know that she saw it too. But somehow, I felt the need to voice it out.
“We’re pregnant…” she confirmed.
As reality slowly sunk into me, I became weaker and hopeless that I lost every strength I had, making me sit on the cold tiled floor of the bathroom.
“What should we do now?” I asked.
My mind went blank.
I’m pregnant…when I was about to divorce Kylian...
It was all too surreal.
“Trisha?” I called out to my wolf but it seemed like she was on the same page as me. She remained quiet and in her own world.
I leaned against the wall and let the emptiness inside me be filled with all the worries that were starting to form in me.
“Should I tell Kylian? How about my fated mate? Will I be rejected? Can we continue the divorce? Can I take care of my pup alone? What will Jackson say? Will he be mad? Worried? Well, that’s for sure. What–”
Numerous questions without answers flooded my mind as my stomach grumbled in hunger.
I held onto my stomach, looked down on it, and asked as if the pup inside me could already understand me. “What must I do now, huh?”
“Miss… Oh, Miss, what are you doing there? It’s too cold…” Diana peeked inside the bathroom with a tray of another set of food in her hand. When she saw me, her eyes widened, and worry filled her.
Her eyes shifted from me and onto the countertop of the sink, realizing what the situation was.
She covered her mouth with her hands in surprise to prevent a scream from escaping her mouth. Then she took a deep breath and went out of the bathroom.
When she came back she was with empty hands. She probably placed the tray somewhere first.
She leaned down in front of me and held my arm, helping me to stand. “Please, Miss, you need to stand. The cold floor is bad for your condition.”
“Diana…” I whispered her name weakly when my stomach rambled again.
She gave me a small smile, saying, “I brought you sliced fruits, sauced chicken, and milk. It’s good for you.”
Once I was sitting at the edge of my bed, Diana placed the tray of food in front of me, but I just kept staring at it.
She looked at me with caution before asking, “What are you going to do now, Miss?”
I had the same question in mind. And just as I was about to go blank, I thought of my family.
“Jackson…”
Faced with dilemma, my brother’s face surfaced among everyone I knew.
He would surely be worried about me. He’s a worrier and reliable, and maybe that’s the kind of person I needed right now.
But I couldn’t help but contemplate. Once he knew I was pregnant, he wouldn’t want me to be here. He won’t want me to stay with Kylian even more for the sake of my pup.
Hell, he would probably even take me away from the Dark Moon Pack against all odds. After all, he was someone who wouldn’t be bothered by any probable conflicts and trouble that his action may cause. He was just that powerful and capable.
What’s worse was that he might even kill Kylian once he saw him.
Thinking of all the possible scenarios, I looked up warily at Diana. “Did you tell Jackson about this? About me being pregnant?” I asked hastily, worried that she might have already reported it.
Her eyes widened upon understanding my worry. She frantically shook her head and waved her hands in response. “No, Miss. I won’t do that. My loyalty is on you.”
To say I wasn’t surprised by her confession would be a lie.
Diana was probably an omega, but she’s talented. Her cooking skills were spectacular. With that skill, she could have stayed in the castle at the main kingdom, having a better career.
Instead, she chose to give up all that possibility and became my servant.
This was a bit strange. Considering what Nancy did to me, I frowned at Diana suspiciously.
“Oh and you have nothing to worry about, I’m sure no one will know. I know that you probably won’t like to reveal it as much as you aren’t revealing who you really are here. I made sure not to leave clues,” she immediately explained.
She glanced at the bathroom for a while, and continued, “I bought the pregnancy stick from the black market so no one can even track that you used one. I’ll also dispose of it properly later. Or do you want to keep it?”
She’s really thoughtful…
I couldn’t help but put aside my doubts and smile. “Thank you. You’re right, you can dispose of it.”
That would be the better choice, so no one would get a hint if it was accidentally seen in the trash.
“Anything for you, Miss.” Diana pushed the tray of food in front of me a little, saying, “Here, you haven’t eaten yet. Please, have a few bites…”
Looking at the food in front of me, I was even more amazed. She had her own initiative in things. She’s observant and also thoughtful. I was really lucky to have her.
“I really like you. You amazed me more and more. I hope you won’t be like…” My last words were almost a whisper as I was reminded of how disrespectful Nancy was as a maid.
Though I didn’t expect much from her back then, I also didn’t expect her to tamper with food and drinks.
Knowing my concern, Diana straightened her back, looked intently into my eyes, and vowed, “I’m not like her, Miss. I will never be like that arrogant and thoughtless woman! I’ll be loyal to you and take care of you in every means I can. I’ll never betray you, I vow it to you in my wolf’s name. No matter what happens, I’ll forever aid you in everything you need. I know I am only an omega, but I’ll do everything to be helpful to you. Anything.”
“I would be sad if you thought I was like that bitch. How could she hurt you? If she dares to come again, I will definitely kill her!”
To kill Nancy was too much, but that also sword her sincerity. More than that, I could clearly see her genuine intention, and it warmed my heart.
I smile brightly at her. "I'm sorry, Diana, I'm just too anxious. And don’t worry about Nancy, she’s already handed over to the Dark Moon Pack’s council. She’ll be punished severely.”
“She deserved that!” Diana said with conviction as if she was the one whom Nancy had hurt.
Although I couldn't hear clearly, I knew she was mumbling curses on Nancy. Noticing that I was looking at her, she closed her mouth and smiled at me in embarrassment .
I was about to tell her to take it easy when a loud knock on the door took our attention.
Diana and I looked at each other.
“Open it!”
Then I heard Luke’s voice as he ordered. And within a second, Luke and a few guards he brought with him kicked the door open and came into my room.
I stood up with caution while Diana stood in front of me and block them from me.
“What do you think you’re doing? Why are you here?” I shouted in anger, but Luke didn’t answer me.
His eyes darted around the room and suddenly fell onto the countertop of the sink.
My eyes widened when I saw Luke frowning.
Oh no! The pregnancy stick was still on the counter!
Diana realized it too. She ran towards the sink quickly trying to grab it.
“How can you barge in here like this?’ I demanded Luke, trying to take his attention, but I was too late.
Luke already recognized what it was and had a hold on it. He stared at it for a while.
On my Moon Goddess. What if he knew I was pregnant? Will he steal my pup or drive me away from Dark Moon immediately?
My heart was beating faster and faster with panic and nervousness, and I prayed sincerely that he didn't understand what it meant.
But that’s impossible.
His eyebrows furrowed before his eyes became filled with fury.
He intently looked at me and sternly asked, “Are you pregnant?”
