"I'll wait for you."
With a smile on his face and determination in his eyes, Kylian turned and left me alone with my brother.
Once he was totally gone, I looked at Jackson who was still burning with fury. Walking closer to him, I firmed my voice and vowed, "Jacson, I won't waver. I promise you, in one month's time, he'll sign that paper and we'll be officially divorced."
"Right… As if I'll believe that. You couldn't even stand him being bullied and made them stop attacking him," he said with a glare as he slumped himself on the couch and took a sip of coffee.
I smiled.
Jackson's a naughty type of a person. However, his responsibilities over the kingdom and his worry about me, especially with the seriousness of what happened, his worry and anger made him become this serious, strict, and a bit boring looking person.
'Great! He's still mad… Now, I need to coax him.' I thought.
Smiling cutely, I sat beside him on the couch, wrapped my arms around his, and snuggled closer at him.
He didn't budge. 'That's a good sign!'
"That's a different story. The guards had bruised him enough already so I made them stop. We're not brute people, now are we? In regards to divorce, I'll make sure he signs it."
He looked at me with a knowing look.
"Oh, come on! Don't you trust me?" I pouted and even blinked my eyes. Damn! What I do for him. He's lucky he's my brother and I love him.
He narrowed his eyes, but this time, there was less intensity in his eyes and his body relaxed a little bit.
"I trust you, but I don't trust that asshole."
That got me cracking up. That's such a cliche thing to say. Everyone says those kinds of lines.
"What are you laughing about?" he annoyingly asked as he pushed my hand away.
Waving my hands as I calmed myself down, I explained and tease, "I'm sorry. It's just you're being too cute."
"I am far from benign cute, Della!"
I pierced my lips together to withhold my laughter. He's no longer mad, and merely annoyed. Mission success!
Nodding, I agreed sarcastically, "Yes, yes, yes, of course. You're handsome and majestic, my dear brother."
Heaving a sigh, as if realizing what I was doing, he looked at me gentler. "You have to be careful there. Don't be swayed by him."
"I won't. I swear." I smiled and stood up to leave.
"Great!" In a matter of seconds, he was already standing up and jumped on me. He wrapped his arm around my neck as if to strangle me.
I shouted and started wrestling with him around his office like we were back to being a child. Room became filled with laughter and shouts, before we got exhausted and slumped on the floor, lying down.
He looked at me sideways and spoke after our breathings calmed down. "Albert is in the infirmary. He got injured last night. You know that. Despite that."
"Of course, I know. I'm worried and very thankful toward him."
"Someone reported to me that despite the injury, he's more worried about you all night. He'll occasionally ask those taking care of him about how you are doing."
"Oh, you remind me. " I stood up. "We need to visit him."
"Of course."
We both stood up and fixed our wrinkled clothes before going to the infirmary. As we got closer, we heard Fae and Albert's distinct voices inside the room.
With a single knock, we entered.
Shocked and glad, Albert tried to sit up on bed as he spoke, "Della, how are you? Are you okay? Are–"
"I am fine. Just lay down will you. Your injury is not fully healed yet," I said as I sat on the chair beside the bed where Fae stood up after seeing me.
"What? No! That bastard is just taking advantage of the situation…" Fae instantly argued after I told them what happened, and that I'll be leaving for the Dark Moon Pack after this visit.
"It's already decided, guys."
"I'll send you. I need… No, I mean… We will send you and we need to make sure that you'll be safe there." Albert once again tried to stand, but I stopped him.
Standing up, I firmly said, "Albert. You don't have to worry. I swear, I'll be fine."
"...Oh fine. Call me when you need something. I'll get you… No questions asked." Albert reminded as he gently held my hand which unexplainably gave me warmth.
I smiled back at him and nodded. I know he's worried and I really appreciate his care.
After leaving the infirmary, Fae followed when Jackson suddenly spoke, "He's a good man."
Oh, no! That tone… Those words…
"You're not saying what I think you're saying, right…"
"He'll be a suitable chosen mate for you. Maybe once things settle down, both of you can get married," he suggested. Honestly, I didn't know how to react.
"Yes! He's a gentleman, caring, and above all. He's loyal. He takes good care of you and helps you whenever you need him. Also, you kissed him!" Fae exclaimed, intentionally making Jackson hear it.
I couldn't want more but to hide in a hole right now.
Shaking my head, I said, "You guys are overthinking things! Albert and I are just friends. Besides, we work together."
"Don't worry, it's never my intention. I just wanted to help you in return for your help before. You help me with Cliff's case, remember? I am here to help you take over the Lycan Kings' throne and nothing more."
That's what Albert said yesterday to me and I believe that. Fae and Jackson were just giving too much meaning in everything.
I despised them for misinterpreting all intimate relationships between men and women. Fae pouted, then looked at Jackson, and both shrugged at the same time.
Hey, let me tell you, it's better to talk about what's between them than me and Albert.
I ignored the "couple", packed my things, and got in the backseat of the car that Kylian had sent over.
"Don't worry, I'll be fine." I reassured.
The Dark Moon Pack was just about an hour away from the kingdom. I was looking outside the window. We're already near.
However, just as we were about to reach the gate, the car halted.
"What happened?" I asked the driver. He didn't answer and just remained looking ahead. "Please get out of the car, Luna."
I ignored this title, got out of the car suspiciously, and what's in front of me bewildered me.
There were pink rose petals on the pathway up to the pack's main gate. It was scattered all over the ground and there were lighted candles which formed a path toward the gate where Kylian was standing.
He's well dressed, looking godly handsome in his suit and tie. In his hand was a bouquet of baby blue breath flowers with pink roses lining on the outside. He's just waiting there, staring at me with longing eyes.
My heart beat faster. Saying I wasn't moved by his romantic action would be a lie. Butterflies formed in my stomach and the urge of smiling was slowly increasing in me.
'Divroce! Make him sign the divorce paper! Don't be swayed, Della!' I reminded myself over and over while biting the inside of my cheek to get a hold of myself.
Calming myself down, I acted nonchalantly and walked straight to the gate. Kylian had a smile on his face, thinking I'll accept my favorite flowers he's handing me. However, when he least expected it, I looked at Henry who's on the side.
"Where will I stay?" I asked.
He blinked a couple of times, hesitating whether to answer on that.
Raising my eyebrow, I asked again, "Where?"
"Um… It's in the…"
Before he could finish his words, my wrist was grabbed and pulled, taking me in by surprise. In a matter of seconds, my body was forcefully turned, making me face Kylian. Taking advantage of the momentum, he wrapped his arm on my waist, making our bodies bump into each other.
Damn him!
To support myself from the impact, my hands subconsciously went on his chest.
He leaned and lovingly stared into my eyes.
"It's your favorite… Are you not even going to accept it?"
As if drowning in his eyes, I lost my voice. I really wanted to get those flowers, but I knew I must not.
'Don't get swayed, Della.' I had to remind myself over and over again as my heart trumped hysterically inside my chest.
Once I calmed myself down, I pushed him away. "I don't need your flowers, Kylian. And that's not my favorite anymore."
I saw loss in his eyes, like a wounded puppy, but that's not enough to sway me now.
After placing a gap between me and Kylian, I faced Henry again. "Where will I stay? How many times must I ask?"
I felt irritated. I couldn't be this close to Kylian for now. I couldn't let him use his charm on me.
He momentarily looked behind me, as if to ask for Kylian's permission. After a while, he answered. "It's the guest house beside the main house. It has a magnificent garden beside it and is very easy to find."
He explained while pointing in a direction. Immediately, I strode toward that path, itching to get far from Kylian and take a rest.
"Aren't you really moved by what I did?" he shouted after I got a bit far from him which made me halt.
"I am. I am so afraid that I need to put distance between us or I fear that I might get swayed." I answered in my mind before I took another step.
"Do you really not love me anymore?" That question, once again, halted me.
I do. I still love you. I want to be with you but I can't. I'm not naive to stay with someone with another woman as his mate.
"I still love you, Della. I do more than you know! I know you still love me. I'll make you stay no matter what! I swear! I'll show you how much I love you so you won't leave me anymore."
No. I won't. I repeated in my mind.
I continued walking as if I didn't hear him say anything nor did it affect me in any way.
I guess this would be a long one month. It just might be harder than I expected it would be. I came here determined to get a divorce, but suddenly, I no longer knew what the future might hold.
