Chapter 14: Family

"You look deep in thought," Derek's voice came from behind me, deep and warm. He walked to my side, his arm gently encircling my waist. "What are you thinking about?"
"We need to talk," I turned to face him, my expression serious. "Are you and Owen both available?"
Derek nodded. "Owen is organizing Lillian's medical data in the study. I'll get him."
Ten minutes later, the three of us sat in the manor's private sitting room. Derek chose a single armchair, his posture relaxed but his gaze alert; Owen sat beside me on the loveseat, maintaining a polite distance, his fingers nervously fidgeting with his glasses.
"I've found a solution," I got straight to the point, my voice firmer than I had expected. "About our... situation."
Both brothers straightened their backs, their gazes locked on me.
"In the werewolf world, the Dual Mark is extremely rare, but not impossible," I continued, my fingers lightly touching my abdomen. "The ancient prophecy says only when three hearts beat as one can power stabilize. I believe this isn't just about the children's power, but also about the relationship between the three of us."
Derek's brow furrowed slightly. "What are you suggesting, Bella?"
I took a deep breath, looking directly into his eyes. "I suggest we accept this connection. Formally. Publicly. Me as both your mates, and both of you as my mates and the fathers of our children."
The air in the room seemed to freeze. Derek's expression became unreadable, while Owen's eyes widened, his lips parting slightly.
"This is... unusual," Derek finally said, his voice cautious. "Even in werewolf society, it would cause controversy."
"I know," I admitted. "But we're already on this path, aren't we? The connection between the three of us, Lillian's dual genes, the child in my womb... it all points in the same direction."
Owen cleared his throat, his voice slightly trembling. "Derek is the Alpha, Bella. The leader of the entire Silver Moon Pack. This arrangement would affect his position."
Derek suddenly stood up and walked to the window, his back tense. Owen and I exchanged a worried glance, uncertain of his reaction.
"Do you know what an Alpha's most important responsibility is?" Derek suddenly asked, without turning around.
"Protecting the pack," Owen answered.
"Protecting family," Derek corrected, turning to face us, determination flashing in his eyes. "If this arrangement can protect my mate and my children, then I'm willing to face any controversy."
I looked at him in surprise, not expecting him to accept so easily. Derek walked toward me, kneeling on one knee, taking my hand. "Bella, I love you. If sharing your love with my brother is the only way to protect you and our children, then I'm willing to try."
Tears glistened in Owen's eyes. "Derek, are you sure? For an Alpha, this..."
"I'm sure," Derek said firmly, then looked at Owen. "But you must promise me you'll never leave again. No matter what happens, the three of us face it together."
Owen nodded, his voice choked with emotion. "I promise, brother. My life belongs to this family."
Two weeks later, the full moon rose again. This time, the entire Silver Moon Pack gathered in an ancient stone circle to witness an unprecedented ceremony. Derek and Owen stood in the center of the circle, dressed in traditional ceremonial robes, their expressions solemn and determined.
I wore a silver-white gown, walking slowly toward them, my heart pounding like a drum. The pack members' gazes fell on me—some curious, some questioning, but most respectful.
"Tonight," Derek's voice echoed in the stone circle, powerful and confident, "we celebrate a new kind of bond. Isabella Sterling will become the shared mate of myself and my brother Owen Ravencraft, our Luna."
Low murmurs spread through the crowd, but no one openly objected. Derek's authority as Alpha was unquestionable.
"This bond may be unusual," Owen added, his voice gentle but firm, "but it is real, built on love and respect."
I stood between the two brothers, holding each of their hands. "I accept this bond, and the responsibilities and honor of being your Luna. I promise loyalty, support, and love, not only to you both but to the entire Silver Moon Pack."
Moonlight bathed us, as if blessing this unusual bond. I felt a powerful energy flowing between the three of us, strengthening our connection.
Just as the ceremony ended, alarms suddenly sounded. The Blood Moon Pack had launched a final attack, clearly trying to take advantage of the ceremony.
"Protect the Luna and the children!" Derek commanded, dangerous light flashing in his eyes.
Pack warriors immediately formed a defensive formation, but the Blood Moon Pack's leader—the red-haired woman—broke through the line, heading straight for me.
"Mother of the dual moon child," she sneered, greed flashing in her eyes. "The child in your womb will belong to the Blood Moon Pack."
I didn't back down but stepped forward, feeling the wolf within me awaken. "You'll never touch my child."
Derek and Owen appeared simultaneously at my side, the three of us forming a perfect triangle. Our energy resonated in the moonlight, creating an invisible barrier.
"Three hearts as one," the red-haired woman backed away in horror. "Impossible!"
"Anything is possible," I said calmly, feeling the power of both Alphas flowing into me through our connection. "Especially when protecting family."
Together, the three of us released a powerful wave of energy, knocking down the red-haired woman. The rest of the Blood Moon Pack members retreated at the sight.
After the battle, Derek announced our victory, and pack members cheered. Lillian ran from the warriors who had protected her, throwing herself into our three-way embrace.
"Did we win?" she asked innocently, her silver eyes sparkling in the moonlight.
"Yes, little princess," Owen answered gently, stroking her hair. "We won."
"Because we're family," Derek added, showing a rare tender smile. "The strongest family."
Six months later, I gave birth to twins on the night of the full moon—a boy and a girl, both with silver eyes. Derek and Owen stood by my side, their faces showing identical pride and joy.
"They're perfect," Derek said softly, carefully holding his son.
"Just like their mother," Owen added, gazing tenderly at the daughter in my arms.
Lillian stood by the bed, curiously looking at her baby brother and sister. "Are they children of the dual moon too?"
"Yes," I smiled in answer. "Special, just like you."
That night, we stood in the manor's garden, moonlight bathing us. Derek and Owen stood on either side of me, Lillian chasing fireflies in the garden, the twins sleeping peacefully in the cradles we had prepared.
"Do you regret it?" Owen asked softly, a hint of uncertainty in his eyes. "Choosing this unusual path?"
I shook my head, smiling at him and Derek. "Not at all. This might not be the life I imagined when I was younger, but it's perfect because it has you both and our children."
Derek held my hand. "We'll protect you and the children, Bella. No matter what happens."
"I know," I said softly, feeling a deep sense of contentment and security. "We're family."
Whatever challenges awaited us in the future, I knew we would face them together. Because we weren't just mates, weren't just parents—we were family, souls woven together by destiny.
And this connection was stronger than any difficulty, more real than any prophecy.
