"He's not stupid," Jackson spat, struggling against his restraints. "He knows it's a trap."
"Counting on it," Richard replied. "We're prepared for him. But first, let's proceed with our test."
He nodded to one of the scientists, who approached Jackson with a syringe filled with amber liquid.
"No!" I shouted, struggling against my captors. "You don't understand what you're doing! That formula isn't stable—it could kill him!"
"A risk we're willing to take," Richard said dispassionately. "For science."
I watched in horror as the scientist injected the modified compound into Jackson's neck. For a moment, nothing happened. Then Jackson's body began to convulse, his eyes flashing between their normal brown and werewolf gold.
"Stop it!" I begged. "Please! You're killing him!"
Richard observed dispassionately. "Interesting. The transformation is beginning, but it appears incomplete."
Jackson's face contorted in agony as his body fought between human and wolf forms, unable to fully transform in either direction. Blood began to trickle from his nose and ears.
"His system is rejecting it," I said desperately. "The compound is too concentrated! You have to give him the counteragent!"
"There is no counteragent," Richard replied. "This is merely a test run."
"I can make one," I said quickly. "I know how the compound works. I can reverse it, but you have to let me help him now before it's too late!"
