When I reached her floor I quickly walked to where Santiago was standing. "Hi," I called out to him and he turned to look at me with a sad look on his face.
"What's wrong Santiago?" I asked with a frown as I started worrying about all the possible things that could come from his mouth. "Is she awake? I taught you said she's awake."
"She is."
"Then what's wrong?" I insist.
He looked at me with sad eyes. "She hit her head hard and that lead her to have severe memory loss. Alexander, she has amnesia."
I frowned at him, I couldn't believe what I heard. Amnesia meant she didn't remember me. She doesn't remember us. I took a deep breath then ran my hands through my hair. I felt like crying and so I started. Yes, I'm happy that she's awake but what difference is it if she doesn't remember anything.
Santiago came and pat me on my back. "It's okay, hermano, she's fine. It's only temporary. Dr. Baines said it will eventually go away. She's fine." he assures me. During the couple of weeks, I've known Santiago I've come to learn he was a very good man. He cares a lot for persons. I guess I could classify him as a best friend. He comforted Alliyah and me when we wanted to give up hope. He helps us stay strong.
I started to sob. "What if she doesn't? What if she hit her head too hard and doesn't recovery. What will I do?"
He pulled me in and hugged me. "Stop, okay. Think positive. She'll be fine. You have to be strong. Think of it this way. Since you hurt her she doesn't remember what you did. It's your time to prove to her that you're sorry. Prove it to her so when she gets back her memory she doesn't have resentment in her heart for you. Prove to her that you love her. This is your chance. Remember think about the good things that might come from her memory loss." I told him all that happened on the day I kicked Kalliyah out and I also told him about our relationship. He understand, he didn't judge me for what I did.
"Okay, I will but can I see her?" I asked him as I came out of his arms.
"Dr. Baines is in there and so is Alliyah but you can go as soon as they are finished."
"I wonder what I'll say to her once I get in there."
"Just start with an introduction, after all, she doesn't remember you. Tell her about your relationship with her. Take it slowly. Don't want to put pressure on her brain."
"Okay." I smiled at him. "Start with an introduction," I said more to myself. I don't need to start my conversation with her by telling her sorry for something she doesn't remember. Take it slow. I will take it slow.

I walked in her room with my heart in my hands. She was staring at the wall when I entered but she looked at the door and saw me. She didn't react. I knew she wouldn't, she doesn't know me. I walked in a little more.
"Hi," I stammered.
"Hi, " she said with a shy look on her face "I'm sorry I don't remember you. Who are you?" I knew I couldn't avoid her question but when I heard her asked my heart broke.
"My name is Alexander Carter but you usually call me Alex." I tried to smile but I failed miserably. How can I? The only woman I've ever love doesn't remember me or the good times we've spent with each other.
"Who are you to me?" she inquired.
"I'm your boyfriend." As I said those words I try as hard as I can to keep a smile. Hopefully, my forced smiles assure her.
"I have a boyfriend?" She asked surprised with a smile on her pale face. My heart lifted when I saw her smile. The smile I love and missed so very dearly.
I nod. She started to smile and start playing with her fingers. She is nervous. She does that when she's nervous. I smile at the memory of when we met.
I walked closer to the bed and sat in the bedside chair. She turns to look at me. "Can I asked you a few questions, please?" she asked with uncertainty.
"Of course, you can ask anything you want. I'll answer them." I stated with a smile.
"How did we meet? Was it romantic?" I grin at her question.
Was it romantic?
Hell No.
It was the opposite.
"We met on the busy streets of New York," I laughed. "No, it was the opposite of romantic."
She raises her eyebrows. "Really? How come?"
"Well, I was kind of stalking you," I told her and rub the back of my head. I wasn't sure if should tell her about what her sister did or why I was really searching for her.
"Wait? You were my stalker before you turned my boyfriend?" she sounded amazed.
"No, not exactly. Ask me something else." I tried to avoid the subject of how we met. I wasn't the nicest of persons especially since I made her lose her job.
"Hmm..okay. Do you love me?" my heart freezes at her question. That was the last thing I was expecting her to say at least since she lost her memory. I've never actually told her I love her. I might as well tell her now.
"I do. I love you. You're my heart and I'm so happy to have back. Without you, I've been a mess." I moved closer to her and held her hands to my lips while I look in her grey eyes.
