Chapter 7

Her name was Gemma Mendes, named after her birthplace.
Growing up in a government compound gave her natural authority, yet she'd always had a soft spot for me, a fellow orphan.
I'd contacted her specifically before the press conference.
Gemma raised her chin, eyeing Eva's kneeling form with disgust.
"Once a bitch, always a bitch!"
"I have some interesting information about Miss White! I'd love to share it with everyone at Mr. Silver's press conference."
At Gemma's nod, her technician pressed a button. Every phone in the room pinged simultaneously.
"What you're seeing is a complete record of how Eva White seduced my ex-husband!"
Explicit messages and videos too graphic to describe filled every screen.
Several voice messages played, sickeningly sweet:
"Uncle, Auntie gave me some hand-me-down dresses today. Could you help me with the zipper?"
"Uncle, did you see my photos? When Auntie wears this dress, she fills it out so well. Do you think I'm too flat?"
"I don't want to waste the tuition Auntie paid, but I'm just so stupid. Could you come tutor me tonight when she's not home?"
Along with these messages, bank statements showed all the tuition and living expenses Gemma had paid for Eva.
Gemma's voice cut through the shocked silence.
"If Ashley hadn't begged for your life that day, you know exactly what would have happened to you!"
"Repaying kindness with betrayal, and still playing the victim? Not on my watch!"
Under the crushing pressure, Eva went ghostly pale as cameras and microphones swarmed her.
Suddenly she clutched her stomach, sweat beading on her forehead.
In apparent agony, she reached a trembling hand toward Lane.
"Lane, it hurts... help me..."
"Save our baby..."
He responded with a cold snort.
"Have some dignity, Miss White."
Devastated, Eva finally dropped her mask, her face twisting with hatred as she spat at me:
"You've won, Ashley! Happy now?!"
"Stupid bitch! You're celebrating too soon!"
"You think I'm your enemy? You think getting rid of me means you're safe?!"
"Dream on! Without me, there'll be others! So many pretty young things!"
"Clinging to that worthless piece of shit for love?! You deserve every miserable second!"
A dangerous glint flashed in Lane's eyes as security guards moved to remove Eva.
As all cameras followed the commotion, I calmly picked up the microphone.
"You're right, which is why you're not the main event today."
Into countless livestreaming cameras, I smiled coldly.
"I invited everyone here today to make an announcement."
"I am divorcing Lane Silver."
