Chapter 109
540words
Charlotte finished all hers two hours ago.
Must be nice to have a working brain.
"I give up, I'm just going to drop out" I say with frustration as I flop back onto her pillows and tears start to well up in my eyes
Have you ever been so frustrated that tears just start to fall out of your eyes?
Because it happens to me every time I do homework.
Charlotte frowns at me when she sees that I'm about to cry.
She stands up from her floor, where she was sorting documents, and walks up to stand beside me.
When she reaches me she looks down a me with an adorably confused face.
Her long blonde hair was in a fan bun and her face was completely bare.
She looks like a figment if my imagination.
"Babe, this is simple algebra" she says as she continues to stare down at me
"I don't understand question six" I say as I bring my hand up to wipe my fallen tears away
"Okay, I'll help you" she says as she picks my laptop up and sets it on her lap
I sit up and lean my head on her shoulder since her scent soothes me.
The problem read,
-5a -2 +3a +4b +a -12 +6b +1 -a.
If I didn't know any better, I would've assumed that they just threw letters, numbers, and symbols together and called it an equation.
"Aspen, this is simple," she says as she hands me my laptop and grabs a piece of paper
"You take -5a,+3a,+a, -a and subtract it which would give you -2a" she explains as she lightly nibbles on her bottom lip which effectively distracts me
"Then you take -4b and +6b and subtract them from each other which would leave you 2b" she say and writes it down
"For the last one you take -2,-12,+1 and subtract them from each other which would give you 13" she finishes
She looks up at me and notices that I wasn't paying attention.
"Aspen, you're going to need to know this" she says with a serious tone
"I'm sorry, you're just such a great teacher that I got distracted" I say innocently
"Whatever, try to solve it" she says as she hands me my paper back, before walking away I see the light blush that's appearing on her cheeks
I quietly laugh at her flustered, retreating figure before actually attempting to solve the problem.
I stare at the problem for a couple of minutes and try to think of a possible answer.
"Is it -2a + 2b - 13" I ask her which makes her smile
"Yeah, you got it" she says proudly
I smile as I move on to number seven.
"Hey, I'll be back, I have to go talk to Carolina really quick" Charlotte suddenly says as she looks down at her phone
"Um, okay" I reply suspiciously since Carolina would usually just knock on Charlotte's door
Charlotte stands up and grabs her phone before sliding out of her room and running down the stairs.
She's acting weird.
I decide to ignore it and finish my homework.
