Chapter 64

510words
"Okay, so I may have a little fear of heights" Charlotte squeaks out as our seat stops at the top of the Ferris wheel

"You don't say" I sarcastically retort as I show her the claw marks on my forearm, that she caused.

"This isn't funny, Aspen" she says

"Okay, there's nothing to be afraid of," I say when she jumps at the sound of fireworks

"There's many reasons to be scared" she says in a panicked tone

I grab Charlotte's hand and interlock our fingers together which causes her to look down at our hands with an appreciative expression.

"Everything is going to be fine" I say to her with a smile on my face

"Yeah, maybe you're- Nope I can't do this" she says as the Ferris wheel starts to move again

"Just look into my eyes, it'll be over before you know it" I say as I caress the side of her face

She looks up so that I'm now looking into her bright green eyes.

The same eyes that give me butterflies.

The same eyes that make me tingly all over.

The same eyes that belong to my best friend and...

The girl I love with all my heart.

I have good news and bad news.

The good news?

I'm finally getting my cast off!

The bad news?

I'm completely terrified!

"Aspen, you won't even feel it" Charlotte says in exasperation as she flops beside me on my bed

We're at my house because my mother wants to be with me when I get my cast cut off.

She came back three days after Charlotte and I's date.

I still haven't told her about it, yet.

"How would you know? You've never been in a cast before!" I respond in a panicked tone

"Yeah, but I do know that you tend to overreact" she says

"I'm not overreacting, Charlotte" I say as I glare at her

"Aspen, Charlotte, come down before we're late" my mother yells from downstairs

"We're coming" I yell back

I carefully slide off my bed only to be gently pulled back by my one working arm. I land on top of Charlotte with my legs on either side of her hips. I'm practically straddling her at this point.

"Please don't be mad at me" she says with an adorable pouty face

Aw, she's so cute.

"Why would I be mad?" I say with a straight face

"I don't know, but you're mad at me right now" she says

"I'm not mad at you" I say, my straight face unwavering

She slowly leans in for a kiss only for me to block it with my palm.

"I'm not kissing you anytime soon" I say before I carefully climb off of her

"Why are you mad at me, Aspen?" She asks as she follows behind me

"No reason" I say as I descend down the stairs

"Aspen, please tell me" she begs with puppy dog eyes

Aw, she looks so cute with puppy dog eyes.

"Later" I say before I walk out the house
