Chapter 36

"Did you like the pep rally?" A random cheerleader asks me as I stand up to leave the gym

She's been staring at me the whole time. If I'm being honest it's creeping me out.

"Yeah" I lied

I didn't hate the pep rally but the cheers and dances were too repetitive in my opinion. Maybe our school needs new material.

"Great," She says with a bright smile as her brown ponytail swings freely

"We worked really hard on it" she says which causes me to smile before we're interrupted by, guess who?

If you guessed Maddie then you're absolutely correct.

"Bri, why are you talking to her?" Maddie asks as she stops beside the cheerleader

Oh, so her name is Bri.

"Can I not talk to Charlotte's girlfriend?" Bri asks Maddie with an eye roll which causes me to roll my eyes

Why do people keep assuming that we're dating?!

We look nothing like a couple!

"I have a name" I state with an annoyed tone

"Stay out of this, Aspen" Maddie says with an acidic tone which makes me roll my eyes at her in annoyance

I walk away from them and out of the gym only to be grabbed by the wrist and pulled into a janitors closet.

Before I can defend myself I hear Charlotte's voice which causes me to relax.

"Why did you pull me into a janitors closet?" I ask as she flips the light switch on which causes me to be blinded for a couple of seconds as my eyes start to water

"I have to leave, but I wanted to see you before I did" she says which causes a pain to erupt from my heart

Ouch.

"You said you weren't leaving until twelve" I say with an emotionless tone since I'm tired of her changing the time

"It's urgent, I'm sorry" she replies which causes me to roll my eyes

"Bye, have fun" I say as I go to walk out of the room only to get stopped by her body blocking my path. I look up at her face and see her sporting a confused facial expression.

"I don't know why you're mad" she says which causes me to reach up and fix my messy bun so that I have something else to focus on

"I'm not mad" I say with an even tone which causes her to give me a 'really?' look

"Go, we'll talk when you get back" I say which causes her to stiffly nod before she opens the door for me

I walk out of the closet with Charlotte trailing behind. A couple of seconds later Charlotte laughs at me which causes me to give her a confused look.

"What's so funny?" I ask as we stop in the middle of the empty hallway

"Technically you just came out of the closet" she says which causes my cheeks to redden as I think about what she's saying

"So did you, the only difference is that I'm straight" I say with a smirk which causes her to stare at me with a smile

"So is spaghetti until it's wet" she says with a wink which causes me to avert my attention away from her as I feel a tingling sensation between my legs

Oh my fucking god.

How am I turned on?!

Why am I turned on?!

What am I going to do?!

"Cheer up, buttercup" Carolina says with a smile as she tries to tickle me. I glare at her as I run away from her.

I hate it when people tickle me.

Carolina and I are currently shopping for our dresses to the gala tonight.

Last minute? Yeah, I know.

School was very boring today.

Kayden is still sick so I can't see him. Plus, Charlotte left way earlier than planned.

I personally feel like I have the right to pout at my day.

"If you stop pouting, I'll buy your lunch" she tries to negotiate which causes me to raise an eyebrow at her in interest

"How does pizza sound?" She asks as I tap my chin in thought

"I'm kind of in the mood for Chinese food" I say which causes her to smirk and laugh at my answer

"That's fair. Do we have a deal?" She asks and holds out her hand

"Yes" I say as I shake her outstretched hand which causes her to laugh as we continue to shop for gowns.
