The salty sea breeze swept across my terrace curtains.

I lounged in my chair, scrolling through news of the Bailey Group's bankruptcy liquidation, followed by a notification of this month's investment returns being deposited.


An unknown number called. A deep, familiar voice came through: "Miss White, do you have time for coffee?"

"Depends on my mood," I replied, smiling slightly.

"How's your mood right now?"


"Not bad."

"Then... would you like to have dinner together?"


I turned with anticipation to see Lucas standing on the street below, bathed in sunset light, waving up at me with white roses in hand.

The golden light cast a halo around him as the white roses trembled gently in the breeze.
