Chapter 123

Golden's POV.

This is not happening. Tell me this is not real. Someone please, tell me that Freeda didn't go to Steve and tell him the truth!

I don't know how and when, but I found myself running as fast as I can to their chamber. Gab and Elaine were so confused when I suddenly picked up my stuffs and rushed out.

We had a deal! I told her that we'll sort things out first. She doesn't h ave to go there by herself and confessed everything. It will make her look so bad.

"D—Damon!" I called desperately in my mind.

I thought he wasn't going to answer, but I sighed in relief when I started hearing his heavy breaths. "Where are you? Freeda—" I cut him off.

"I know. I'm headed there already. Go and stop them if you come first!" I replied and was about to regain my consciousness in reality when a voice stopped Damon from running. I listened carefully on what she's saying to him.

"May I have a word with you, Damon?" she asked politely. I furrowed my brows. Who the hell is this woman? And why would she stop someone who's in a hurry for emergency?

"I—I'm sorry, but—" She cut him off.

"It will not take long."

That's the last thing I heard before I turned to the left hall leaving my inner state of mind. I was gasping for air as I cross the crowded halls where Freeda and Steve's room is located. Everyone is scattered outside their room and seemed to be listening to the commotion inside.

"Excuse me!" I said with a hint of authority in my voice. They all looked at me curiously and when they saw that it's me. They voluntarily formed a path way for me.

I stopped in front of their slightly opened door.

"What do you mean my parsen is dead? You are my parsen." Steve is staring directly in his eyes. Confusion is visible in his face. His arms are corded and fists are closed. In front of him is Freeda. Kneeling on the floor like as if she's begging for forgiveness.

"I told you that I am not! Your real parsen is dead. I am a fake, Steve! I am not a Chosen. I am a Mythos!" she said anxiously. Steve's face crumpled. He doesn't like what he's hearing.

He yielded a sigh. "What is it that I do now, huh? You don't have to put up this show. We're catching so much attention already. Please, get up. They might think that I'm—" Freeda cut him off with a loud scream.

"AHHHHHHHHH!" She messed up her hair while face is harshly burried on the cold floor.

"What the fuck are you doing?!" Steve asked hysterically. I didn't waste my time and opened the door to intrude. The chosens watching outside groaned when I closed the door for privacy.

Freeda raised her head to look at him. The way she hit her head on the floor left a red mark on her forehead. I parted my lips while staring at them. It breaks my heart to see them this way.

"Don't you understand it just yet?" she slurred. A line formed in between his brows.

"I fooled and used you for my own benifit."

His jaw clenched.

"Please, don't say that. Tell me if I did something wrong. I can fix it for you. Don't say those kind of stuffs. They're very inappropriate. You fooled no one, Freeda. You did not used me." I can sense the vulnerability in his voice.

Steve is not slow. He easily picks up on things and hearing her desperately tell him that she used and fooled him must really hurt him inside.

And his way of coping up with the pain is acting defensive about it.

Freeda screamed again when he tried to touch her. "Don't touch me! I don't want to hurt you. I don't deserve you. I lied to you. I am a fake!" she blurted out.

"You are not a fake. You're my parsen for Gaviel's sake. The Findan Pot paired us with each other. How can you deny the most wonderful thing that has ever happen to me? Stop this already. You're breaking me. Hold me."

"NO! I manipulated the parsenation ceremony. I knew that your real parsen is dead, so I stole her identity. I came here as a spy. I'm from the Mythonia Kingdom. I am not a Chosen. We don't fit with each other. Don't forgive me a fake like m-"

"ENOUGH!"

Steve's deep voice thundered in the four corners of the room. He glanced at me.

"Please, calm her down. I don't think I can bear the words she's saying right now," he said in a weak voice and left the room. The chosens outside the door gasped in chorus after seeing him leave with a huge frown on his face.

My eyes landed on Freeda. I sighed deeply as I walked towards her. "I told you to sort things out with us. Do you not trust Damon and me?" I asked. She lifted her head to look at me. I can't almost recognize her because of how miserable she looks right now. The darkness of her under eyes are the worst nightmares of many. Her red eyes that have been swollen to crying.

This poor girl.

"I-I had to do it myself. It's the mess I started. It has nothing to do with the two of you." She cupped her face and cried. I stared at her as she fall apart on the floor. My head turns at the door when it sprung open and Damon came inside with a worried look.

"What happened?" he asked immediately and kissed my forehead. He leaned to help Freeda. "Are you okay? Please, get up on the floor. You're not even wearing any slippers. You will freeze to death." Damon wanted to carry her to the bed, but she keeps on pushing her away.

"Let her be," I told him.

I looked at the miserable girl on the floor. She's hugging her knees right now while hiding her face.

"We'll leave you alone." Damon arched his brows at me. "We have to give her time to herself. I'll make sure to see her once she's okay. Let's talk to Steve for now," I told him in my mind. He nodded his head and glanced at Freeda for the last time before escorting me out of the room.

"Why did we leave her? She needs a friend. Someone to talk to," Damon said while following me from behind. We've been searching for Steve everywhere, but he's nowhere to be found.

"She wants to be alone and we have to respect that," I replied seriously. He yielded a sigh as he matched his pace with mine. "I think Steve is using his gift. He must be disguised as somebody else right now. Tell me if you find someone suspicious. We have to have a word with him."

"Don't you think he needs a me time too?"

I glanced at him. He's looking around trying to find the guy we're looking for. "What?" he asked when he finally noticed me staring at him. He arched his brows confusedly at me. "Did I say something wrong?"

My lips curved into a smile. I shook my head. "No, you didn't. I'm just glad you're not thinking that this is not a waste of time. Making them up is not really part of our mission. We're helping her right now as a friend," I replied. He flashed a small smile on his lips.

"Of course, she's our friend. Even is she tried to kill you and I multiple times already. There will always be a room for a change."

That's the last thing he said giving me a short kiss on the lips.

We spent hours looking for Steve, but we couldn't find him. I'm afraid that he's so full of questions in his mind right now and no one is trying to give him an answer. I'm scared that it wil affect him severely. He has always been the anxious type. I hope he's okay right now.

"Let's hope for the best. Hope that they'reboth okay and nothing bad happened to them," he said.

We're back in our chamber. Elaine promised to pay us a visit. Gab is kind enough to use his gift and help up find Steve. I'm just glad they've met once before. He, at least, knows what kind of aura does that guy have.

"So, it was true?" he asked. I looked at him. "That Steve's real parsen died of natural death."

I looked away.
