Chapter 86

Golden's POV

Silence is still overpowering us both. I can't find words to open the topic about his hatred towards humans. Plus, we have another problem. We failed to find Aluncina.

"Let's head to God Hlaford's office first," he said using his cold voice. I just nodded my head even if he can't see my face because he's looking at the other side of the hall.

It's day in Vortaxia. I really like the magic in this place. We haven't had enough sleep, but we don't feel weak nor sleepy.

I wonder if Josh arrived to his own kingdom safely. I'm glad that God Diante wasn't there. I'm sure he'd get a good beating from him once he sees him himself. I should go and tell Diante that we managed to bring the wolf back. I'm sure he couldn't sleep for days because of it.

Damon is still walking like a robot and is not even glancing back at me. How will I talk to him if he's building invisible walls around him?

He prompted me to stop in front of Hlaford's huge office door. I watched him knock it three times and turn the knob. The smell of sweet candies and nuts welcomed my nostrils. I look at the table in the middle and there I saw him looking at us with a smile on his face.

He looked like he's expecting a good news.

"You're back," Damon and I bowed our heads. "Blessed," he said and offer us a seat. I don't know if the God of Spheria noticed the awkward silence between the two of us, but I see him glancing at our isolated hands.

Damon always holds my hand whenever we come here, but now he isn't. God Hlaford must have noticed that.

"I was starting to worry, but you came earlier than expected. Have you two eaten yet?" he asked. I cleared my voice and look at Damon. How are we going to tell about what happened back there?

I can't let Hlaford assume things. He must know immediately what actually happened.

"Mapheus' directions lead us to a souvenir shop where a mythonian lives," Damon starts. I pursed my lips and play with my hands. That's right, Damon. You do the storytelling. "He looked like a fox so as his name as Foxxy. He owns a shop that sells different seashells."

I lifted my head to look at Hlaford. He's just listening to Damon intently. He has no emotions on his face. I can't read him.

Vortans have a choice to live in the human world. It's not really big of a deal, but I was expecting him to find our interaction with a mythonian offending.

"We showed him the Fiscio's clue and what he saw was a name." Damon's voice weakened.

Hlaford's brows arched. He looked quite surprised. It look like he wasn't expecting that information from us. I'm sure that the Gods and Goddesses did their best to investigate the seashell, but they failed to see the name.

"There's a name engraved on the seashell, and it's Golden's family servant, Aluncina." I flinched when I felt his hand touching mine. I saw him staring at me in the corner of my eyes.

"Aluncina?" Hlaford repeated. He leaned on his chair and tilt his head like as if he's trying to remember the name we just mentioned to him. "I can recall that name. It has been twenty years, but I can still remember our first encounter like it happened yesterday." He heaved a sigh.

"Silver had a young friend during his childhood. That child was Aluncina. Her parents became ivaws after breaking a golden rule." His old face wrinkled when he forced a weak smile on his lips. A line formed in between my brows.

Aluncina's parents became ivaws? They comitted a felony. A golden rule. WHat is that?

"Aluncina is originally from Wizarnia Kingdom."

My world stopped.

What?

She's a wizardus?

"They went here. Visiting another kingdom was forbidden. It was the golden rule," he added. My lips parted. I tried to open my mouth to speak, but no voice came out of my lips. Am I really hearing what I'm hearing?

"Where is she?" he asked. My eyes turned small. I glanced at Damon.

"We lost her. Something happened back in there, and we failed to find her." Hlaford's forehead wrinkled. "A police officer told us that she was sent to the sanitarium, but she wasn't there," he added. Damon looked at me and back to Hlaford.

"And people in the hospital were hypnotized by some Wizadus. Base from the informations I've just heard, I'm assuming Aluncina caused it."

Damon's statement made my eyes grew big. I looked at him with an astounded face. I'm waiting for him to withdraw what he said, but he didn't. I yanked my hands off him.

"I'm sorry, but I have to go."

That's the last thing I said before slamming the door shut leaving both of them inside.

Why did he have to brought that up. He wasn't sure, but he didn't hesitate to make my only family a suspect? Using magic in the human word is forbidden and is punishable by an ivaw curse. Is he trying to ruin her with that?

What happened to the guy I trusted so much? Why is he acting so recklessly these days?

I'm sure he'll find me in our chamber so, I'll find Steve and vent.

*knock* *knock*

I'm not really expecting him to open the door for me, but he did. His eyes widened when he saw me. I didn't hesitate to hug him.

"Hey? What's up?" he asked. I buried my face on his chest. I need a hug from a friend right now.

I find myself sittion on one of their couch. Like what I was expecting, Freeda isn't here. I smiled when he offered me a cup of tea. I accepted it and took a quick sip.

"What's going on?" he asked.

I look directly on his face. His gray eyes are sparkling with curiosity. He wants to know what happened. Our last meeting wasn't really good. He had to escaped because of Damon. And now, I have the audacity to barge inside his chambers.

"It's Damon," I replied. He raised his brows and nodded like he was expecting me to say that. "He's being heartless these past few days." My voice cracked. He puts out a small handkerchief and hand it to me.

"You're crying." He smiled.

"Oh, sorry. I didn't noticed," I apologized and wipe the tears on my face using his handkerchief. He crossed his arms and stare at me. I know that he wants to say something, but he's choosing to keep quiet.

"No offense, but I find dragons toxic to be honest. They're taking their dominance too seriously to the point that their being insensitive," he said. I lifted my head to look at him. His eyes were serious and genuine. I know that he feels bad about me.

I, of course, know about his dragon traits, but isn't this just too much? He doesn't listen to me anymore. He just keeps on going in his own path. What about us? As parsens?

"Are you okay?" he asked. I remained silent. I don't know. Am I okay?

"How do you deal with it?"

His brows arched.

"Deal with what?" he asked confusedly.

"Freeda. You said she's cold towards you. How do you absorb her negative energy like a sponge?"

He chuckled. He stare at the tea cup he's holding and smile.

"She's my parsen. Even if she gets too cold to the point that it's freezing me to death, I will still stay. I will still hug her like she's the warmest Vortan I've ever touched."

Now, I feel bad. How do I tell him the truth about Freeda?

"Same goes with Damon. I'm sure that you're hurting because you love him. That's love. It sucks." He laughs.
