Chapter 78

Golden's POV

We spent hours checking every beach on the map. All of them have no idea about the seashell. This is so ironic. This thing is so common and everyone claims to see it before but don't really give me a pecific place to look at to.

This mission is harder than I thought.  We decided to take a short break in a near diner. Damon ordered pancakes and bacons. I don't really have an appetite today. I just want to drink tons of water. I wasn't expecting this place to be so hot this summer. I feel like I'll get sick just by thinking about how we came from a cold place to here.

"What do we do? Finding this shell is harder that we thought and we still need to find that wolf," I started a conversation. He stops studying the map and give me a stern look. He could be anywhere.

"Didn't you noticed something different about him?"

I put my drink down and look at him. "The wolf?" I asked. He shakes his head. I furrowed my brows. Then to whom is he talking about?

"The guy on Tanya's room. I think you called him by the name Josh," he replied. I made a hum sound and nodded my head in a continues manner.

"I know. I was expecting him to be a little polite too when I first saw him  but I guess you can't really judge a person be on their physical appearance. There's more on what we see," I answered and shake my head. He clicked his tongue like as if he's telling me that he's referring to something else.

"No, baby. I mean didn't you see him wearing headphones?" he asked. I pouted my lips and try to remember what happened earlier. Yeah, I think I saw him wearing one. I looked at him and nodded. "Isn't it weird that he has it on his head even though it's not plugged to any device?"

"It wasn't?"

"Yes. He tried to hide it when he stands up but I noticed it right away. I think he was trying to use it as a prop," he concluded. I stared at him for a few moments before opening my mouth to speak.

"Why else would he do that for?" I contradicted. Besides why do we have to worry about him? From what I know, Tanya has a new boyfriend already. Wait... Tanya has a new boyfriend already then what the fuck was he doing there? "Could it be..."

Damon looked directly in my eyes. He has the same thinking as mine.

"His clothes were soiled and crumpled. There's a huge possibility that he's the wolf we're looking for," he said.

The heat of the sun had subsided already when we finally decided to go back in finding the seashell. I'm still in the process of realizing that Josh as an actual Vortan and is a wolf. He's from the Mythonia Kingdom. Was it only a coincidence or he's trying to spy on me?

"Excuse me, Sir. Have you seen this shell before?" I asked to a man walking to the beach with his girl friend. He stare at the thing I'm holding for a few moments before opening his mouth to speak.

"That thing is so common but I don't know where I seen it," he replied. Like as I  was expecting. That's the response I always get for the past three hours. "You should go to that souvenir shop. They collect all sorts of seashells. You might find answers there." He pointed a small shop from a far.

Souvenire

"Thank you, sir." He just smiled and walked away. I lifted my head to look at Damon. He's looking at the shop the man has pointed. "It's a souvenir shop. They collect all sorts of seashells. We should go and check it out." I grabbed his hand and bring him to the shop.

There weren't any customers around it especially inside. I don't even think someone buys stuff in here.

"Hello?" I called. The place is dead silent. I scanned around and saw different shells with customed names and designs. This place looks creepy for some reason. "Is anybody here?" I called again. There's no answer.

"Do you smell anything weird?" I asked him. Damon looked at me with a sour expression on his face.

"Baby, I'm a dragon not a dog. If you want you can ask Josh."

I clicked my tongue and just turn away. "Hello?" I called again. My eyes grew big when I saw a weird looking creature coming out of the door. I stepped a few steps back and jumped on to Damon's arms. What the hell is that?!

"Hmmm. I smell Vortan! I smell Vortan!" the creature says and wiggle its long tail. He has a male sound and he looks like a half human and half dog. "Has anybody says the word dog? Well I'm a dog!" he chirps. I fliched when he landed his eyes on us.

"What are you?" Damon asked. He looks more calm than me.

"Oh I haven't properly intoduced myself. I am Foxxy but I am not a fox. I am a mythonian. It's nice to meet you two," he said and give us his hand. I mean paw? "Hmm you smell nice. You must be a Chosen." He looked at me. Damon put me down gently on the floor.

I still choose to stay beside him. Foxxy is freaking me out. I got chased by a dog once when I was a child and a talking dog doesn't really help at all.

"And your smell screams dominance and power. You must be a dragonian," he said and looked at Damon.

Damon and I looked at each other like as if we're speaking to ech other using our eyes. I landed my eyes on Foxxy again. He's looking at us suspiciously now.

"I've never seen two different races so close before. Are you parsens?" he asked. I tried to calm myself by holding Damon's hand.

"Yes, we are," I admitted. His ears twitched.

"Hmmm. Interesting..."

We found ourselves sitting in front of him. He insisted on giving us herbal tea. It's so green and disgusting by the way. I didn't know fox would like these kind of stuffs.

"I am Golden Young and the guy beside me is Damon Felono," I introduced myself. He nodded his head and waited for what I'm about to say next.

"We need your help," I started. He pushed his eyeglasses and looked at us. "We're looking for this kind of seashell." I put the only clue on the table. He stared at it for a few moments before picking it up to study it. His nose sniffled.

"This is a common looking shell isn't it?" he talked to himself. I looked at Damon who's still studying the place. Foxxy takes us to the back of the shop. There are plenty of dried herbal leaves and sorts here. He seemed to enjoy these kind of beverage. "Let me get my tool," he said and pulls a drawer. He takes out a round glass that resembles a magnifying glass.

"Hmmm," he hummed and check the seashell.

"You shouldn't be looking for the origin of this thing," he states. A line formed in between my brows. What does he mean? "Take a look." He hands me the magnifying glass and the seashell. I accepted it politely and take a quick glimpse on the shell.

My first view was just all cracks and little crystals but when my vision adjusted, I start to see letters. I gasped when it formed a word.

"Aluncina," I read. I saw Damon looked at me confusedly in the corner of my eyes. I turned my head to look at him.

"Aluncina's your family's servant, right?" he asked. I nodded my head. What does this clue means? Are they trying to imply that Aluncina is the culprit?

But no. That can't be. That's not true!

"You look flustered, dear." I diverted my gaze on Foxxy. He looks pretty confused too.

Aluncina can't be the one who stole God Gaviel's sacred bludgeon.
