Golden's POV

Everyone gasped in horror. Damon took my hand but I immediately yanked it off of him and went to my unconscious best friend. My hands are trembling as I touched his wrist to feel his pulse.

It's gone...

"WHAT HAVE YOU DONE?!" I didn't know I could yell that loud but I'm too frantic to even care about her feelings. Cecilia's eyes watered as she stares at her hand like it isn't hers.

"Call the herb lady!" I heard him said. Damon lifted Travis and I followed him nervously. What if he dies? Oh my gosh... This can't be happening right now. The bystanders gave way as we head to the Greenhouse. My heart won't stop from pounding.

What was she thinking? How could she just play with her dangerous powers like it's some harmless water? She'll have to take responsibility for this. I don't think I can just stand here and let her off the hook.

A small lady greeted us. She's wearing a bountiful skirt with tons of pockets on the sides. "Aigoo!" she exclaims while looking at my unconscious friend. Damon lay him to the soft pile of cottons and the small lady immediately took out a huge needle on her pocket and prick it through his left pulse. I wanted to interfere but Damon stopped me.

"Is he okay?" I asked worriedly.

The smell of medicinal herbs lingered in my nostrils. She walked slowly to a small boiling pot. That's when I looked around the scan the place. We're inside a huge tree. There are plenty of dried plants that from my guess are medicinal herbs.

"He is alright. Your friend is lucky to have invisibility as his gift. He is slowly removing the poison in his body using his mana. So don't you worry. He just needs some Yerba root tea to restore his energy," she says. I've never felt so relieved before.

I was forced to leave Travis on the tree clinic. Wish I could nurse him but Damon wouldn't like it. "You okay?" he asked. I shake my head.

"How could she react so exaggeratedly about your race?" I snarled at him. She was so excited to pick at us because of it that she wasn't hesitant to kill us in front of everybody. I froze from the sudden realization.

Wait...

How did she know about Damon's race?

I shifted my eyes at him and it seemed like he also realized what just happened.

I only know one person who has telepathic gift. Gab... Did he perhaps spread that to everybody?

_

"Hey..." I hesitantly smiled at him. He fixes his wavy hair and looked at me. I had to persuade Damon for an hour straight just to allow me to meet Gabby alone. I wanted to know if it's him.

"It's not me," he says. I blinked my eyes and smiled sheepishly at him. I almost forgot that he could read minds.

"I didn't know that he was a Dragon. He's somewhat blocking me that's why I couldn't read him. But if I ever knew, I wouldn't tell it to anyone." His words guilt me. Gabby's a good guy. I shouldn't have doubted him. But he's the only telepathic Chosen who cam in contact with us.

Who could it be?

"I know that interracial relationship in Vortaxia isn't accepted. I would never wanted to trouble you two. You guys are my friends now," he added. His warm smile touched my heart. We both looked at the door when it suddenly opened.

Damon walks directly to me and I laughed softly when I saw Elaine tailing him from behind. I asked her to look our for Damon for me but seems like she couldn't really take his dominant aura.

After all, Dragonians are known to be the strongest Vortans in our world.

He grabs my cold hand and insert it on his pocket. "What's taking your conversation so long?" he asked. Annoyance is noticeable in his voice. I chuckled and jokingly yanked my hand off of him.

"It has been only five minutes since I came here," I told him.

"We're supposed to stick together like glue." Elaine suppressed her laugh and hold her parsen's hand.

"Aww! Dragons are possessive by nature, aren't they?" she slurs.

"We're also short tempered," Damon says earning a smack from me. He's such a jerk.

"But who would do such a thing? I'm sure everyone's talking about you already." Elaine looks at us worriedly. I glanced at Damon and heaved a sigh. I can't think of anyone yet. Must be some radom Chosens who can read minds.

A day passed and my first night with him wasn't really that bad. I thought he would be really clingy and embrace me to sleep but he didn't. He slept on his bed last night.

The Chosens are still looking at us as we headed to the dining hall. Elaine and Gabby are in front of us bickering like always. I asked Damon if we could pay Travis a visit and he said okay. We decided to ignore the gossiping bees and just finish our food already so we can head to the Tree Clinic. I brought some fruits with us.

"What happened to Cecilia?" he asked as he eats the fruit I've peeled from him. I gave him a small smile. He still cares about his parsen despite of what she did to him. If it weren't for his gift, he would have died already.

"She hasn't come back yet. Hlaford asked for her presence yesterday. I'm not sure what kind of punishment she'd get for hurting you," I replied. He heaved a sigh and put the piece of fruit down. Damon is standing beside me watching us talk.

He looks at Damon and smiled. "I heard you carried me here. Thanks man."

"It's fine."

He's so still and cold. Just like a bear.

We bowed when the small lady entered the room. Her skirt is making a funny sound as she approached Travis on the bed. She takes out a small bag on her pocket and give it to him.

"Drink that after your meal. It will help you regain your energy," she tells him. Travis nodded his head and accepted the small pouch that looks like a tea bag to me.

"I'll remember that. Thank you, Miss Puff."

Oh... Her name is Miss Puff. I looked at her puffy skirt. It kind of makes sense.

"You can go back to your quarters already. Please, don't abuse your healing power by accepting your parsen's poison. I know that both of you compliment each other but it's not okay to do that," she says. I pursed my lips. She's right but Travis is too kind to follow her advise.

He never listened anyway.

"Let's go?" he asked. I nodded at him and smiled. He'll need a long rest.
