Chapter 89

"When you're a rich person, you can buy anything, including people. Papers and data information showed she left the country on a private flight. All lies."
"Oh my God. Hunter really is a monster. I slept with and next to a monster. How can I even look at myself the same again?"
"You weren't aware. Lots of people weren't aware including myself. We're just unfolding this ourselves and we will get justice for Jevan. Hunter and his father are going to pay. We're not leaving any stones unturned."
"What about his mother?"
"I believe she suspected. She knew of the ill-treatment his ex was facing."
"Just like the way he treated me. He was ruthless. Why the hell I didn't stand up to him after that one time he laid hands on me. What was wrong with me?"
"Maybe you convinced yourself that that wasn't really him and that he would change or that it was your fault. Our minds can be so clouded sometimes even when the sight is bright and right in front of us but don't be blaming yourself for any of this. You're not Hunter. You didn't ask him to kill my brother."
"I can't believe he's gone, Jada and I'll never see him again. This shit hurts. It hurts so fucking bad and I want to strangle Hunter with my bare hands before shooting him in his messed up head!"
"Blossom, breathe! Calm yourself."
"I can't. I can't. It must really be my fault! It's my fault! I know I didn't tell Hunter to kill Jevan but he did it because he couldn't get me back!"
"Blossom! STOP IT! Snap yourself out of it. It's not your fault. Okay?"
She pulled me into another hug and broke into tears again.

Evan Hollen POV
"I can't go in there and see my son's lifeless body, Evan," Jasmine said as we reached the threshold of the Hospital's entrance.
"You would stay in the waiting room area?"
She nodded yes and I took her to the waiting room area. I left and came back with a cup of coffee for her.
"Mr and Mrs. Hollen," a doctor greeted us, "I'm Dr. Chaplin."
"My wife is in no state to see our son. She would remain here. Please, take me to him."
"Of course. Right this way."
He led me to an elevator and we ascended.
"I'm sorry. I thought we would be heading downwards."
"Upwards, sir."
After a few more seconds, the elevator stopped and we stepped out into the VIP wing and I followed two steps behind the doctor.
Memories of my first born son played in my head. The moment he born. He opened his eyes at the sound of my voice.
The moment were I kicked him and his mom out the house over a pathetic lie.
The moment I saw him covered in his mother's blood when my crazy ex shot her in her own apartment.
The moment he came back home. The came back home. And he called he 'Dada'.
His first cussed words he heard from his aunt. His first time riding a bike and the moments he grew up before my eyes into an incredible young man. He was a reflection of myself.
I was vulnerable for the first time. I was trying to be tough throughout all of this for my wife, Jevan's wife and the rest of my family but it's eating me up inside worse than a cancer.
"Mr. Hollen. He's right in here."
Tears filled my eyes and I didn't have the strength to wipe it away. "I'm sorry. I can't."
"Mr. Hollen?"
"I need a moment." I retreated back to the elevator and closed the door behind me. I pounded my fist as hard as I could have and I kicked and I screamed.
"FUCKKKKK!"
Evan Hollen POV
"Mr. Hollen! Wait!" I heard the doctor calling after me when I reached the lobby but I was too devastated to respond. Grief was taking control and the reality of everything was compiling like bricks in my head.
I found Jasmine still sitting in the waiting room. Susan was with her now.
"Honey?" she said when she saw me with bloodshot eyes, "You've been crying, haven't you?" Jasmine rose and pulled me into her arms where I sobbed quietly.
"Ah! Mr. Hollen, I finally caught up with you," the doctor said when he joined us.
"Doc, I'm sorry but I'll need a moment."
"Please take all the time you need. Your son would be waiting."
"Waiting? Are you trying to be funny, doctor, because if that's your sense of humor, you should consider a next profession!" Susan snapped.
"I'm sorry if I may have offended..."
"Of course you've offended us! Jevan was my grandson! You don't make fun of the dead!"
"My apologies ma'am but...."
"Leave us! You've done enough!"

I gathered myself once again and headed back to the VIP wing at the top floor. I met the doctor and we walked into the room.
There he was. My son. I couldn't move another muscle in my body. I froze in place as I took him in.
"Pardon me, Mr. Hollen, but this is what I've been trying to explain to you. Your son isn't dead. He's very much alive."
"But.. But.. We received a phone call stating he had passed away."
"We thought we had lost him. We did lose him. Somehow, he came back and when we tried calling you again, we couldn't reach you or your wife nor a Miss. Blossom Wright."
"I smashed my phone against the wall and my wife and Blossom probably still got their phones on airplane mode. We were traveling to New York. After hearing the news, everyone was distraughted," I explained.
"Understood."
"So you're telling me, my son is alive?"
