Chapter 42: Jealous

His mind wandered thinking about the whereabouts of his mother, Ramona. However, Belinda was unfazed by Nick's blank gaze and went straight to the heart of the conversation. "When are you going to marry Ramona?" asked Belinda sharply, accompanied by a small gesture of annoyance.
Belinda continued in a complaining tone, "Hunter kept rejecting my arranged marriage. I hate that he accommodates Ramona and her son. If you can't marry her now, let another man marry her."
Nick looked at her coldly, making Belinda immediately speechless. He put down the ballpoint pen he had been holding, then said calmly but stabbingly, "If only your son hadn't messed up that time, I'd have married Ramona."
The statement made Belinda blush for a moment, feeling offended. However, he came back with a sharper question, "Are you really in a relationship? Isn't it a charade?"
Nick leaned his back on the chair, then replied casually, "A play or not, it has nothing to do with Auntie. Auntie's job is just to make sure Hunter doesn't ruin my second marriage again."
Hearing Nick's answer, Belinda was a little shocked. However, when she heard Nick admit her intention to remarry, her face changed. A wide smile flashed on his face. "Alright, I'll arrange everything. I make sure your marriage goes smoothly without any interference from Hunter," Belinda said excitedly.
Nick nodded slowly, looking at her with a faint smile that was hard to define. In his heart, he felt relieved that his plan had started to work. "How? Did you pick up Laura as I requested?" asked Nick, his tone a little more relaxed.
Belinda nodded confidently. Nick let out a long sigh, looking satisfied. With Laura, he was sure that Hunter would have no more room to move close to Ramona. "Narrow the movement. Let him know that he no longer has control over anything," Nick muttered in a meaningful, low tone. Belinda, without another word, just nodded in agreement.
Ramona entered Hunter's office with a definite step, as usual intending to report everything according to their plan. However, when Liam ushers her into the room, an unexpected sight stuns her. There, stood a beautiful woman beside Hunter—Laura.
Liam bit his lip, looking uneasy as he got a sharp look from Hunter, as if to blame him for not telling him that Ramona was coming. Meanwhile, Laura, who saw Ramona's presence, immediately approached Hunter, with a flirtatious attitude that was clearly intended to make Ramona jealous. Unfortunately, his attempt fails completely as Hunter gets up from his chair and approaches Ramona.
"Honey," Hunter called softly, for the first time in front of Laura and Liam.
Ramona froze on the spot. The call shocked him, even making his cheeks heat up. Liam, who was standing by the door, gasped, unable to believe what he had just heard. While Laura squinted, her expression turned annoyed, especially as Hunter casually hugged Ramona tightly, as if wanting to assert his position in front of Laura.
Hunter loosened his arms, looked at Ramona deeply, and smiled seductively. "Do you miss me?" he asked casually.
Ramona glanced at Laura for a moment, then nodded slightly with a faint smile. That answer made Hunter smile widely. Confidently, he pulled Ramona's hand and invited her to sit on the sofa. "Liam, take Laura to the front," Hunter ordered without taking his eyes off Ramona.
Liam, though a little confused, just nodded obediently. He opened the door without a word. Laura squealed loudly, stomping her feet in annoyance before finally walking out of the room with a sharp gaze that couldn't be separated from Hunter and Ramona.
As soon as the door closed, Ramona quickly kept her distance from Hunter. "He's gone," he said coldly.
Hunter frowned, confused. "Then?" he asked casually, looking at him with a question mark.
Ramona narrowed her eyes in annoyance. "Didn't you call me 'baby' just to make her go? He's gone, so you can stop pretending now." "What is the future fiancé that Esther said yesterday?" added Ramona in a pressing tone.
Hunter held back his laughter when he realized an interesting fact—Ramona was jealous. He blushed, biting his lip to cover his smile. "Are you jealous of Laura?" he asked in a teasing tone.
Ramona looked at him sharply with a distorted smile on her face. "I'm really jealous," he said sternly, then leaned back on the sofa and folded his arms in front of his chest. "I don't have the right to do that," he added sarcastically.
Hunter, who was trying to hold back his laughter, finally gave up. Ramona's fierce and adorable gaze made her want to laugh out loud. However, he chose to hold back and only smiled meaningfully. One thing was clear in her eyes—Ramona didn't want to admit it, but her jealousy was enough to answer everything.
Hunter narrowed his eyes, gave a meaningful smile, and then said in a teasing tone, "No rights? That's right, after this you will be my wife. How can you say I'm not jealous when there's another woman near me? Do you really love me?"
The sentence made Ramona blush, swallowing her saliva nervously. His heart was beating faster, but he tried to stay calm. Why, anyway, is it always hard to be angry with Hunter? Every time Hunter behaved like this—teasing with his mischievous smile—all his annoyance always just collapsed.
Hunter, not satisfied with just words, slowly brought his face closer to Ramona, until the distance between them was getting thinner. His gaze was sharp but full of tenderness. "Is it hard to say, 'I'm jealous of Laura'?" he teased with a grin.
Ramona blinked, her cheeks flushed even more because she felt cornered by Hunter's words. Without thinking, he directly hit Hunter's burly shoulder. "You suck, you know!" he grumbled, though the blow felt more like a gentle pat than real anger.
Hunter, who had been holding back his laughter ever since, finally gave up. He laughed freely, looking so enjoying this moment. "Why are you so funny when you're upset?" asked Hunter in between laughter, his eyes still glued to Ramona's blushing face.
Ramona just rolled her eyeballs, trying to hide the embarrassment that was getting harder and harder for her to control. Hunter always has a way of making him upset and blushing, and this time is no exception.
When Ramona realizes her purpose in coming to Hunter's office, she hurriedly stops her annoyance. His gaze turned serious as he turned his head towards Hunter. "Don't you think this is all too smooth?" he asked in a tone full of doubt. "I'm sure Nick isn't that stupid to really believe me, right?"
Hunter, who was still sitting relaxed on the sofa, smiled calmly. He reached out to stroke Ramona's hair, signaling that everything was still under control. "Take it easy, baby," she said softly. "You've done your job very well. By making them—Nick and Belinda—at odds and estranged, it was enough to weaken their position. When they are busy arguing among themselves, it will be easier for us to beat them both."
Ramona listened intently to the explanation and nodded softly. Hunter's logic sounded reasonable, but he still couldn't completely banish the doubts that were tucked away in his heart. "But..." He sighed for a moment. "I still feel that something is wrong. Everything went so smoothly, as if Nick was too easily deceived by her. Isn't this suspicious?"
Hunter shrugged slightly, still maintaining his confident smile. "What we need to focus on now is facing Nick first. Don't think too far. We will remain vigilant, but believe me, our plans so far have gone according to our wishes."
Ramona tried to calm her mind, but her suspicions did not completely disappear. She knew Hunter had always been calm and calculating, but something in her heart whispered that Nick might be hiding a big move they hadn't anticipated.
Hunter looked at Ramona with a deep gaze, her lips slightly bent with an annoyed expression. "Haven't you already made her infatuated with you? He seems to be really in love with you," she said in a tone filled with jealousy.
Ramona opened her eyes wide, holding back a smile that almost rose on her lips. "Yauuu... are you jealous, sir?" he asked in a teasing tone, narrowing his eyes to provoke Hunter's reaction.
Without a word, Hunter pulled Ramona's waist until their bodies came closer. He looked at her intently, his face only a few inches away from Ramona's. "Is that unclear?" asked Hunter in a serious tone. "I show you my annoyance. I was really, really, really jealous of Nick. Will you be responsible if Nick really loves you later? I never share anything with anyone else, including you."
That last sentence made Ramona silent for a moment. He swallowed his saliva nervously, feeling his heart beat faster. There was something in Hunter's tone of voice, something that made his cheeks feel hot and his body trembling slightly.
Hunter slowly approached, clearly intending to kiss Ramona's lips. However, Ramona quickly dodged, making Hunter gasp slightly. "I really feel guilty for him," Ramona said quietly, lowering her head as if avoiding Hunter's gaze. "I've hurt him. What if she's so mad at me that I'm just pretending to love her?"
Hearing that, Hunter narrowed his eyes sharply. "Are you worried about him?" asked Hunter, his voice sounding lower, clearly showing displeasure.
Instead of answering directly, Ramona held back her smile. Deliberately, he nodded, wanting to see Hunter's reaction. Hunter instantly removed his hand from Ramona's waist, leaning her body roughly on the couch. He snorted angrily, his eyes staring in the other direction, trying to hide his annoyance.
Ramona held back her small laugh when she saw that reaction. There was amusement at seeing Hunter, who was usually cold and full of confidence, now turned into such an annoyed jealous man. But on the other hand, warm feelings also began to sneak into Ramona's heart.
Ramona decides to take over the heated atmosphere with her whimsy. Casually, he switched to sitting on Hunter's lap, startling the man. "I was just kidding, do you have to be that angry?" said Ramona with a seductive smile.
Hunter blushed, turning his gaze in the other direction, pretending not to care. But Ramona didn't give up. He deliberately put his hands around Hunter's neck, bringing his face just inches closer to the man's. "Wow, why did I just realize that you're more handsome when you're angry?" she whispered teasingly, her voice soft but clearly provoking a reaction.
Slowly, Hunter turned his face to look at Ramona. Her sharp brown eyes pierced straight into Ramona's gaze. "Are you really mine?" asked Ramona with a small defiant smile.
That was enough to trigger Hunter. Without warning, he grabbed Ramona's back head with his big hand, then with one movement he laid Ramona on the sofa under her body. Now, Ramona's slender body is crushed by Hunter who looks at her with a smile that is a little scary but full of charm. "You dare to tease me, hmm?" asked Hunter in a low tone that sounded like a sweet threat.
Ramona immediately flickered, her face turned nervous and panicked. His hands reflexively held Hunter's field chest, trying to keep his distance. "I'm just trying to persuade you," he excused in an agitated tone.
Hunter just brought his face closer together, making Ramona almost lose her breath due to her increasingly pounding heartbeat. His eyes were fixed on Ramona's lips, while his voice dropped into a deep whisper. "I'm easily tempted by you, honey. So, think of yourself when you're about to touch me," he whispered as he swept the hair on Ramona's face with his finger. "I'm afraid it's hard to control myself without seeing the situation."
Ramona could only swallow her saliva nervously, her face flushed, and her heart pounded like it was about to explode. Meanwhile, Hunter only smiled faintly, satisfied with how he managed to make Ramona lose his mind.
Hunter immediately gently grabbed the pink lips intensely and full of passionate passion, the feeling of the kiss felt so intoxicating to both of them.
Ramona gently squeezed Hunter's hair which only made Hunter want it even more right now.
The caressing that only started on the lips, now penetrated down to Ramona's neck to her chest.
Ramona looked up with a hand that gently rubbed the nape of Hunter's back by occasionally squeezing his hair.
Hunter pulled himself away, looking into Ramona's slurred eyes.
"Want to try it on the couch?" asked Hunter teasingly, making Ramona blush, holding back her smile.
Seeing that sweet smile made Hunter immediately grab Ramona's hands and lock them above his head, gently pleasuring the pink lips with love.
