Chapter 24: She eavesdrops

However, there was one thing that made him smile a little cynical—the plan
Hunter. The plan was so beneficial to both of them. But behind all that, Belinda knew, Hunter was not completely in her control. Especially with Hunter's decision to take care of and even allow Ramona's son to live in their mansion.
"Ramona is really outrageous," Belinda muttered as she clenched her fists. "The woman has started to climb. If I don't act, he'll be even bolder. But... What can I do now?"
Belinda felt a sense of frustration that was running high. All this time, he always knew how to get rid of anyone who stood in his way. However, this time, Ramona felt like a thorn in the side that was hard to pull off. Hunter, with his stubborn nature and sense of responsibility, became a major obstacle.
He bit his lip, his eyes flashing with ambition. "I have to find a way to teach him a lesson," he thought again. But how? Even the idea of drawing up a new plan feels stalemated at the moment.
Belinda knew one thing for sure—she wouldn't let Ramona win. In his mind, he designed small steps, tested strategies, measured risks. The woman must know that Belinda is not someone to be underestimated. Ramona may have gone too far, but Belinda was determined to make sure the last move was hers.
Belinda curled a faint smile on her face. Eventually, he finds a way to get rid of Ramona without the need to take rash steps that can be suspicious. If Hunter wants to take advantage of Ramona temporarily, then he must make sure of one thing: Hunter must not fall in love with her.
"In that case, I have to force Hunter to marry," he muttered as he crossed his legs gracefully. By getting married, Hunter will be bonded and there will be no room for feelings to develop between him and Ramona. This plan sounded perfect to his ears.
However, Belinda knew that choosing the right partner for Hunter was not easy. "Who should I match him with?" he thought aloud, his eyes staring blankly ahead as he devised a strategy in his mind.
His mind wandered to a few names that might fit. But as soon as Jeseline's name flashed, the smile on her face slowly faded. "It's definitely not Jeseline," she muttered softly, almost like speaking to herself. There's something about Jeseline that makes Belinda reluctant to choose her—whether it's because of her suspicious proximity to Hunter or because Jeseline is too dangerous to be involved in this plan.
Belinda tapped her finger on the arm of the chair, trying to find another name that was more appropriate. That person had to be someone he could easily control, someone who wouldn't interfere with his grand plans, but interesting enough for Hunter to want to marry him.
"Whoever he is, the important thing is, I have to act quickly," he thought with a smile that again adorned his face. Now, he felt confident that with this move, he would not only get rid of Ramona, but also secure his place in Hunter's heart and life.
Ramona stepped out of her apartment with a neat appearance, preparing to go to the office. The fresh morning air made him feel quite excited. However, he did not expect the scene that awaited him in the lobby. There, Nick stood casually, seemingly waiting for someone.
"Nick!" called Ramona while waving her hand. His smile curved sweetly as he immediately approached him. "Who are you waiting for?" he asked, looking right and left looking for another figure that Nick might be waiting for.
Nick smiled calmly. "I picked you up. I want to go to Sevano's office, see the bag design that has started to be worked on."
Hearing that, Ramona was a little surprised but couldn't hide her smile. "Why didn't you tell me before? Have you waited a long time?" he asked in an unpleasant tone.
Nick shook his head lightly, his smile still friendly. "Yesterday I forgot to ask for your phone number, so I was desperate to wait here. Wish you were still in the apartment."
Ramona nodded, understanding the situation. "Alright, then let's leave now," he said as he walked beside Nick.
Liam, who was standing not far away, watched their interaction with sharp eyes. While holding back his smile, he immediately took out his phone and took a picture of the two who looked familiar.
A few seconds later, the photo was already sent to Hunter with a text message: "They look pretty close. Do you need further action?" Liam waited for a response, confident that this report would spark an interesting reaction from Hunter.
Hunter let out a deep sigh, his eyes sharply squinting as he stared at his phone screen. His fingers gripped the device tightly, as if he wanted to vent his frustration. The photo he had just received from Liam made his chest rumble.
"It seems like he's very stubborn," he muttered quietly but in a sharp tone. There was a flash of emotion that he couldn't control. "Is he interested in Nick?" he thought in surprise, trying to understand Ramona's increasingly unpredictable attitude.
Hunter didn't like to feel neglected, especially by someone like Ramona. He felt that the woman seemed to deliberately create distance, even acting as if she was not affected by her existence.
Quickly, Hunter typed a short message for Liam: "Take care of Ramona remotely. Don't let him make trouble." The message was sent without any further ado.
On the other hand, Liam read the message with an annoyed expression. He snorted softly, then clicked while shaking his head. "Why is there a man as prestigious as him? I think the hardest thing for Hunter is to be frank," he muttered softly. Although surprised, Liam knew that his job was not to ask, but to carry out orders.
With a relaxed but observant step, Liam begins to move, ensuring that he can still keep an eye on Ramona without attracting attention. In his heart, he wondered, what exactly made Hunter care so much about that woman if Hunter always refused to have feelings for Ramona himself?
Nick and Ramona finally arrive at Sevano's office. As soon as she entered the lobby, Ramona smiled faintly and said goodbye to Nick. "I'll go to my room first, yes," he said before stepping away.
Nick nodded briefly and headed straight to Sevano's room. There, Sevano was already waiting for him with a questioning expression. When Nick walked in and threw his body on the sofa, Sevano immediately asked, "What about yesterday's problem? Is it true that all your belongings were taken by the police?"
Nick just nodded listlessly, letting his body sink into the padded sofa. His face looked tired, but there was a flash of determination in his eyes. Sevano noticed the expression, then let out a long sigh. "All of this is Hunter's doing, isn't it?" he asked in a stern tone, trying to guess the situation.
Nick nodded again, saying yes without a word. Sevano sighed heavily, leaning his back against the chair. "How can we defeat him? What exactly is Hunter's weakness?" muttered Sevano in a curious tone.
Hunter has always been known as a man with brilliant, unpredictable, and almost never-failing plans. Sevano wondered how someone could be so strong without leaving the slightest gap.
Nick smiled faintly at the question. "Actually, we can destroy it," he said confidently. Sevano raised his eyebrows, waiting for further explanation.
"It all depends on one thing," Nick continued while looking at Sevano. "The woman who used to be almost married to him. If we can find him, I think he's Hunter's weakness."
Sevano was silent for a moment, pondering the information. However, before he had time to respond, outside, Ramona, who had just arrived at the door, stopped walking. His hand that was about to knock on the door stopped in mid-air. Nick's words were enough to surprise him. The woman who used to be close to marrying Hunter?
Ramona chose to remain silent in front of the door, listening to their conversation curiously.
'They were so eager to find me, even so sure that if I was Hunter's weakness, what would they do if they knew I was that woman? Are they going to use me to fight the Hunter? I guess they were very wrong, Hunter only took advantage of me, even if you kill me, he won't care, as long as he can get revenge, nothing seems more important than his own mother,' Ramona thought to herself.
"Why are you so eager to destroy Hunter? Considering that you with him are cousins? Imagine if you teamed up with him as a brother, you might be like him, could control half of the city of Malta, don't you want power like Hunter?" asked Sevano who was very curious about Nick's passionate intention to destroy Hunter at all costs.
Nick immediately put on a serious and frightening expression, he immediately replied, "Because I hate him so much. We grew up in the same place, our families are both powerful, but why can't I be like him? Why is he always superior in everything when I am not? Whatever he has, it will end up being mine. What I can't get but Hunter can have, I'll destroy it. Like a perfect papa, I didn't have a perfect father like him, so I killed that perfect figure. That way we both don't have that perfect figure." Sevano was a little surprised by Nick's confession just now.
"Wait, so last year's accident that rocked the city of Malta, was it your doing?" Nick nodded casually without the slightest burden or guilt.
Ramona who heard that could only silence her mouth, shocked that all her bones seemed to disappear from her body at this moment. His body was really very weak when he heard Nick's confession.
What if Hunter knew this? How devastated he was when he found out the fact that his cousin was the one who killed his father.
Ramona immediately stopped herself from entering Sevano's room. He was afraid that he couldn't hold back his emotions when he saw Nick's face.
Elors, who had been paying attention to Ramona who was only standing in front of the door of Sevano's room, suddenly came out of hiding as soon as Ramona returned to his room.
Elors immediately entered Sevano's room to report on several items that were ready to be delivered.
Elors opened the folder and pulled out some design sheets. "I would like to report that some designs have been completed and are ready for delivery. The final process has been completed this morning, and everything is in accordance with the requested specifications," he explained.
Sevano nodded, picked up one of the design sheets and examined them carefully. "Good. Make sure everything is well packaged and delivered on time. Our clients will not tolerate delays."
Elors nodded and closed the maps, Sevano and Nick stared at him because Elors didn't leave.
"What else is needed?" asked Sevano when Elors was not leaving.
Elors immediately replied, "I saw Ramona standing in front of the door of your room from earlier. Then go back to his room." Sevano looks angry but different from Nick.
"Good, we'll see, this time our bait will get what result," Nick muttered making Sevano frown in confusion.
Sevano and Elors looked at Nick who looked so happy when they heard Ramona steal their conversation.
