My heart thundered in my chest. Oh Moon Goddess, how did I get so lucky to be mated to such a Sex God of an Alpha? The way his fingers moved as they brushed against my skin, or how he jerked into me at a mind-blowing rhythm even my wildest dreams couldn't conjure—I couldn't imagine dedicating my life to anyone else. Jaxon looked at me with wide eyes filled with something much more than love. Rather, my heart fluttered when I saw his bright honey-colored eyes filled with devotion, adoration, and an intense intimacy that blazed through the forest like wildfire.

I tugged on the hem of my black dress, noticing the twinkle reflecting back in Jaxon's eyes. I felt my wolf claw to the surface. She eagerly wanted to stay here, locked in this bedroom with him all day. She was ready to go for another round with her mate; she was ready to devote herself to him over and over again. I had to push her back—I knew how important today was. It wasn't only important to Sophia; it was important to the pack that Sophia met her mate. Jaxon sighed as we said our goodbyes, but I rushed to make it quick, reminding him that I'd be standing by his side in a few short hours.

I waltzed down the hallway toward Sophia's bedroom, reminiscing to myself the night that I met Jaxon. I felt my face redden at the thought of him whisking me away into the VIP area of that club and how quickly we couldn't keep our hands off each other. While we may have had a rocky start and faced our own battles, the magic of a mate bond was truly like no other experience. Oh Moon Goddess, please bless Sophia with her mate. Even if he is a scumbag. I wished for every shifter to be lucky enough to feel that eternal pull to their fated mate.

As I approached closer to Sophia's room, I wasn't surprised to see countless women rushing in and out of the bedroom. I was sure Sophia must be a nervous wreck because I saw their relieved faces when they noticed me coming down the hallway. A shorter woman in her early twenties stumbled out and nearly knocked the wind out of me. "Luna, oh my Goddess, my apologies, Luna," she said in a hurried voice as she stumbled over her words. She followed her words and bowed her head. I couldn't stifle the giggle creeping out. "No need to apologize—I hear the early bird gets the worm," I teased. A smile tugged at the corner of her lips, and I didn't miss how her shoulders suddenly relaxed.

The moment I stepped into the doorway, Sophia's scream echoed through the bedroom. "It's about time!" she belted out. My hand instantly rushed to my mouth, covering it as I gasped. Sophia looked nothing short of stunning. It was no wonder the entire packhouse was jammed with the highest of commanding shifters all hoping to feel the mate bond with her. Sophia's hair cascaded down to one side as soft curls adhered to the bottom. Her makeup was fierce yet gentle. She wore a nude lip accompanied by a perfect purple smoky eye and bold eyeliner sharp enough to cut glass. Her skin was flawless. She looked like she belonged on the front page of a fancy magazine.

Sophia pressed her lips together, staring intently for any hint of emotion. "Well?" she finally said, breaking the silence between us. I felt my eyes start to pool with water. I was torn between being a protective sister who wasn't ready to give her away, yet I found my excitement bursting inside my chest to see everyone's faces when she was presented in a few short hours.

I walked toward Sophia and couldn't help but throw my arms around her. "You look like a princess. I'm so excited for you," I whispered in her ear. I could feel Sophia's nerves as her body trembled under my hold. I pulled back to look in her eyes. "Are you okay, Soph? It's normal to be nervous, you know. You might find your mate today!" I exclaimed, trying to add as much excitement into my tone as I could muster. Something about Sophia told me she was defeated as she took a deep breath. It was only then that I noticed the dark circles under her eyes. She shook her head and bit down on her bottom lip like she was deep in thought. "May we have the room?" I asked the women all graciously working to ensure Sophia was ready for her big day. As if in unison, they responded a little too formally, "Yes, Luna." I guessed I was still not used to the attention that came along with being mated to the Alpha.

The room quickly cleared, and I moved toward the breakfast cart that had a delicious spread prepared. I carefully picked out a banana chocolate muffin and some fruit. Sophia cocked her head, waiting to find out why I would delay her preparation and clear out her room. I took a bite of the banana chocolate muffin and let out an exaggerated moan, "I don't know how I survived without Chef Mark all these years." Sophia continued to stare blankly.

I placed the plate down on the side table and sighed. "Alright, spill. What's really going on here? You've been so excited for this day. Now you look like someone sucked the joy right out of you," I said, crossing my legs like a mother scolding her child.

Sophia's eyes cautiously shifted from one side of the room to the other. Now it was as clear as day that something was pestering her, and I intended to find out. "I-it's complicated," she finally admitted, walking toward the dress she had designed for her big reveal. I didn't buy her reasoning, and I wouldn't stop probing until she admitted what was really going on.

She didn't dare look in my direction, her gaze focused on the dress that sparkled in the light creeping in through the big bay window. "My mate. What if it's an Alpha?" she finally admitted. I pressed my lips together, trying to make sense of what could possibly be wrong with being mated to an Alpha. "An Alpha? Well, I'm mated to an Alpha, aren't I? It's pretty incredible," I replied.

"But what if I'm mated to an Alpha whose idea of fated mates is less than traditional?" she asked. I felt my palms begin to go clammy. "Hmm, traditional?" I asked as I cocked my head.
