Chapter 129 Catch Me If You Can

I waved goodbye to Bailey and to the tall, dark, and handsome man, whose name was supposedly Alex, and rushed up the staircase of the pack house. When I finally entered my bedroom, I saw both my and Jaxon's suitcases sitting nestled beside the bed, but there was no sign of Jaxon anywhere. My wolf wasn't even picking up his scent nearby. I walked into the closet, throwing my clothes off my body and into the hamper before reaching out for a pair of black bike shorts and a matching black and white sports bra. It didn't take long for me to change into them and throw my hair up into a high ponytail before making my way down the pack house hall towards Sophia's room. I hadn't seen her since I woke up, which also felt strange to me considering I had fallen asleep in the vehicle with her beside me.
I knocked against the heavy door of her bedroom, but no one answered. I knocked harder this time, pressing my ear against the door. Still, to no avail, I heard nothing on the other side. I grit my teeth, wondering where both she and Jaxon had gone. If they were somewhere together—I could only imagine the bickering happening between them. I gave up and gave in to my wolf, who had been scolding me to find our mate, deciding to go on a run in hopes of finding him. I knew he did his own daily pack run around the borders, so I felt pretty confident that I might just stumble across him.
I started with a slow jog until I was nestled in the forest, carefully hanging my favorite sports bra and shorts on a branch nearby. I called my wolf forward, feeling the bending and snapping of bones until my red fur sprouted and I was standing on all fours. There was something exhilarating about being in wolf form—feeling unstoppable and simply free. I let my wolf take control, and she began sprinting towards the lake where Jaxon and I usually ran. The forest was calm and quiet. I saw a few pack members running as I sprinted toward my most beloved place in the entire pack.
My paws screeched against the forest floor when I saw a massive wooden frame beside the lake—one that never belonged here before. I wasted no time and shifted into my human form, quickening my strides as I entered the wooden frame that I could only assume was some sort of house. My fingers slid across the wood as I stared up at the massive structure, my mind racing about who could have done this. Any new buildings on pack territory required approval by the Alpha. Surely, Jaxon would have told me about this.
I must have been so caught up in my own thoughts that I didn't even feel large corded arms wrap around my torso and a face push into the crook of my neck. Sparks shot along my skin and throughout my entire body, making me shiver in delight. "Jax," I choked out in a laugh as I felt his scruff against my neck.
"So you found it, huh?" he replied in a taunting tone.
"Found what?" I shot back, turning my body toward him and wrapping my arms around his neck.
"I saw the painting you've been working on. I know you wanted a family home out here. It was one of the reasons I wanted to get you away from Midnight Moon territory so my men could start working on it," he admitted, and I felt my heart begin to quicken its pace.
"You mean..." I said, raising a brow as warmth exploded inside my chest.
He nodded, and I could feel his smile against my lips. "I know it's not done, but maybe now you can design it to your liking," he suggested, his warm breath falling on my lips. I didn't even take my time to respond, crashing my lips into his. I felt his large corded arms underneath my ass as he lifted me up and pressed my small body against the wood frame of what I assumed was the front door. I felt him taking control of the kiss and gave in, his tongue moving in a rough motion inside my mouth. I knew he could smell my arousal as he took one hand and slipped it between us, moving down toward my core.
He began tracing small circles against my bud, and I couldn't hold back a moan from slipping out. He rubbed harder and faster as his tongue continued to dominate mine. Finally, he pulled back and gasped for air. "Fuck, I love how wet you get. I'm going to fuck you in every corner of this house," he said in a dangerously low voice that sent electric bolts coursing through my blood. I pushed back further, stabilizing my weight against the wooden beam and bit down my bottom lip. My hand slipped down my chest, rubbing my nipples between my fingers for him to watch, and I whispered, "What's stopping you, Alpha?"
Jaxon growled loudly, pushing his head down and taking my nipple into his mouth. I felt myself melting at his touch as his tongue flicked and he bit down with just enough pressure to make me see stars behind my eyes. He smirked at me, backing off and letting my body slide down. "You have five seconds, little wolf," he taunted, and I heard the darkness in his voice that made my wolf excited and ready to submit to her mate.
"Five..."
"Four..."
I rushed through what seemed to be a hallway with wooden panels on the floor and wooden posts as the walls.
"Three..."
Fuck. I had to move faster. I wasn't going to make this easy for him.
"Two..."
"One..."
