I stumbled off Alpha Jaxon's office desk, gripping the sides to steady my trembling legs. Soft pants escaped my chest, rising and falling heavily. I felt like I was in a trance as I struggled to regain my balance. My eyes betrayed me as they glanced behind to see Jaxon standing there with a devilish smirk, clearly proud of his work.

He chuckled when he saw me looking. "That's a good girl," he said, pressing himself against my back. The heat from his body seeped into me as he placed a tender kiss on my mark and then onto my shoulder. A small moan escaped my lips as raw pleasure overtook me. I felt a tingle in my center, but I knew my body was already on the verge of collapse.

When I finally managed to regain my composure, I pulled myself up to sit on his desk. "So, mate," I said, unable to get enough of using that word. He was mine to enjoy, mine to love, and mine to own. "Care to tell me exactly why we're going to Alpha Christian's pack?" I asked with a sheepish grin. He smirked and tenderly pressed his lips against mine. "His borders are having issues, and he refuses to leave without Sophia."

"So she really is his mate, huh?" I said as I wrapped my arms around his broad shoulders, pulling him closer into my body. His eyes twinkled, making me nearly forget my words as I stared into the amber hues.

I pressed my lips together, realizing I would soon lose my best friend. If she decided to take Alpha Christian as her mate, which I was sure she would, she would undoubtedly relocate to become Luna of his pack. The two of them gazed at each other with such lust, reminding me of a time not so long ago when I felt that same magnetic pull to Alpha Jaxon.

Electricity slid across my jaw when Alpha Jaxon lifted my chin with his finger, his eyes glowing with intensity and care. "Don't worry, you're not going to lose her. She's going to come back to visit, and I'm sure we'll take as many trips as we can to see her, too." While his words were comforting, the thought of losing her still ached in my heart.

I winced. "How do you always know what I'm thinking?" I said with a laugh.

Alpha Jaxon smirked. "You're my mate, my Luna. I was born to know you better than you know yourself." Setting a small kiss on my lips, he pulled back and sat down behind his office desk, rifling through endless piles of paper. He heaved a sigh as he looked down at the pile. "I forgot to talk to Beta Don about the new training program."

Excitement flooded my chest as I whipped my head to look at him. "Training program?" I said with more eagerness than I realized.

He nodded without lifting his gaze from the papers. "The pack has been too busy for my liking since the rogue attack and what happened with Beverly. I have to tighten things up around here to keep the pack safe."

I blew out an exasperated breath. "D-does that mean I can finally start training?" I asked, batting my eyelashes to try and charm my mate.

He looked up and ran his tongue over his teeth as if deep in thought. "Well, if you say please... but I do have one condition."

"One condition?" I asked, raising a sharp brow.

He snarled as he set the papers aside. "I will be training you. My wolf won't be able to handle another shifter's hands all over our mate."

I giggled. "So personal training?"

A loud knock came from the office door. Alpha Jaxon grabbed his shirt from the ground and pulled it over my body. His shirt was far too big for my small frame, hanging down to my thighs. He narrowed his honey-colored eyes at me. "I think I like you in my clothes." I winked playfully. "I think I like your clothes better than mine."

"Come in, Beta," Alpha Jaxon called in a husky voice as he continued buckling up his pants.

"Please don't tell me I was mind linked to watch," Beta Don said sarcastically, which made my cheeks tint bright red. It also earned him a low growl from Alpha Jaxon.

"Sit down, Beta. We need to discuss elevating pack training. I'd even move training to twice a week to ensure our warriors are fit for battle should another trip to the border occur," Jaxon said in his commanding Alpha voice as he reached for a notebook in his desk drawer and then sat back in his office chair.

I hopped off the office desk, placing a small, soft kiss on Alpha Jaxon's smooth lips. He tasted so good that I felt my wolf whimper for more. "And this is where I take my leave. I'm exhausted," I said, giving the two men a small smile.

A swirl of amusement spun through Alpha Jaxon's amber eyes. "Get some rest, Luna. It's been a long day."

I rolled my eyes at him, knowing exactly what he was referring to when he said "long day." Beta Don stood up urgently from his chair and nodded. "Luna. Good night. You should get some rest. The trip ahead is a long one."

I must have looked like a deer caught in headlights, not used to being treated with such authority. This was Beta Don—the same man who had bought me drinks on the night of my birthday. He was now rigid and professional.

As I walked down the hallway, my eyes wandered to the painting room that Alpha Jaxon had gifted me. The door was slightly ajar, as if calling out to me. I struggled to keep my eyes open, but the thrill of working on my painting was far more enticing. Changing my mind, I went inside. An hour of painting wouldn't hurt anyone. Excitement pounded through me now that I finally had a moment to myself. I sat on the chair in front of the canvas, pulling out the colors and swirling them together.

I was at peace. I turned to look out the window as the moonlight poured in. There was something eerily perfect about this moment. I knew I should have been responsible and packed my bags for the trip I was about to embark on, but I couldn't pull myself away from the painting I had been working on endlessly.

Swish, swish, swirl.
