Chapter 32 Champagne Campaign

"I'm so proud of you. I'm proud of us. You've pushed yourself relentlessly to become the Alpha you are today. You deserve it, baby," Beverly said, her hand resting on my chest. I resisted the urge to rip her hand off, knowing that countless curious eyes were watching us right now. I wasn't sure what trick she was planning, but there would be a price to pay for her excessive behavior. I had agreed to go along with still being mated for the sake of the pack's appearance today, and I kept reassuring my wolf that soon the entire pack would know the truth about our meek fated mate.
The usher signaled to Beverly that it was her time to walk down the aisle and resume her position by the stage. She turned and lunged into my body, aiming for a kiss. I felt the kiss coming thanks to my Alpha instincts and turned my face just in time for her lips to hit my cheek. I saw the devastation radiating from within her. "Sorry I'm not HER," she whispered with a disappointed look, abruptly turning and walking down the red carpet runner.
I heard the crowd of wolves erupt into elated cheers as she made her debut toward the stage. I knew it would be challenging for my wolves to accept Adeline in place of Beverly, but there was no way I would allow Adeline to reject me. I had searched so long for my fated mate that it destroyed me to think I wasn't gifted one. They would be forced to accept Adeline—after all, the Moon Goddess had chosen her as their Luna. That had to mean something.
The sound of the trumpet paused briefly, and the usher nodded at me, signaling that it was my time to present myself to my pack. The entire band joined in perfect sync as a symphony played while I made my way to the stage. Instantaneously, I felt an electric shock as I laid eyes on Adeline, fire blazing through my veins. My little mate took my breath away in the black, sultry, floor-length dress she wore—the slit long enough to almost expose that tender pussy of hers. I could faintly smell the wetness pooling between her legs as our eyes met. Her dress hugged every curve, making me desperate to roar out and take her in front of the entire pack.
I briefly paused, holding my gaze with my mate, reminding her who she belonged to. She was mine for the taking and only mine. I was sure to never let her forget it. I approached the massive stage, sat down on the red plush armchair placed in the middle for all wolves to see, and felt my Beta Don signal for the pack to sit as he took his place beside me. I fought my wolf to tear my stare away from Adeline, but my wolf fought harder, stealing short glances her way whenever he could. I watched her play with her rhinestone earrings as if she had no interest in being here. I scoffed at my mate's defiance—I was officially becoming her Alpha, and I expected her full devotion both in and outside the bedroom. For that sly move alone, I was determined to punish her later. I was lost in that moment, thinking about all the ways I could punish her once I had her alone.
An elder from the Silver Moon Pack stood before me as I recited an oath uniting the two packs while pledging always to protect and serve my pack. The crowd erupted in celebration as the elder placed a red sash over my suit, signifying my renewed status as Alpha. Countless champagne bottles popped open, the sound of corks escaping like an array of gunshots in perfect unison.
One by one, each wolf stepped forward and knelt before me, baring their neck in support, starting with the elder of the former Silver Moon Pack. After what felt like hours, Adeline finally stepped forward and bit her bottom lip, sending a spiral of emotions through me and causing my pants to tighten. As she fell to one knee, her perky breasts bounced in perfect view beneath me. I stood and stepped toward her, causing gasps to erupt from the crowd. The wolves watched me closely as my hand pushed back the hair on her neck, exposing her bare skin. My wolf was disgruntled until he saw our mate in complete submission, exposing her neck; we had longed for this moment since the first time we saw her. Her skin was tender and soft. I was lost in thought, dreaming how good my mark would look permanently on my little mate's neck.
I watched as a gentle jerk came from her when a jolt of electricity ran through her—the same jolt I felt through our touch. I nodded at the elder to show I accepted her submission, and he said "thank you" as she rose to her feet, allowing the next wolf to follow. Right before she left the stage, she looked at me with so much love and adoration. I debated whether she was proud to call me her Alpha. All I wanted was to stuff my cock inside her and listen to her call out "Alpha Jaxon" all night.
Once every wolf in the newly restructured Midnight Moon Pack had declared their submission to me as Alpha, Beta Don approached and shook my hand. "You've managed to do great things, Alpha, but you'll always be my best friend," he choked out emotionally. I shook my head and pulled him into a hug, letting him know I appreciated him and his service to me and the pack. It was rare for Beta Don to show emotion like this; he usually used humor as his therapy.
I noticed a few Alphas standing nearby, awaiting their turn to congratulate me, and I accepted their praise individually. The last Alpha to congratulate me was Alpha Christian, who had a calculating glint in his eyes as he approached. "Congratulations, Alpha Jaxon. I'm happy to stand by you once more as unified packs."
I nodded and thanked him. "If you remember, our alliance is about to expire, and I believe it would be beneficial to meet before your return to renegotiate, of sorts."
He responded in a commanding tone, "I think you'll find my terms reasonable. Luna Beverly has already given her input on the matter."
I pressed my lips together to contain my words. Beverly knew our mating would be called off within the next couple of days. Why would she dare talk business with another Alpha on behalf of the pack? I lifted my chest just a touch higher and scoffed at him. "I'm sure your terms will be reasonable, Alpha Christian. Unfortunately for you, though, Luna Beverly is not the Alpha of Midnight Moon. Since when have pack business decisions involved the opinions of Lunas?"
His green eyes lit up, and he cocked his head in confusion. "That's correct, Alpha Jaxon. Pack decisions involving alliances involve Alphas only. So you can imagine why I was wary about her approaching me about pack matters to begin with."
