I sighed turning my attention to my client who was still very much beside me. "I want you to promise me not go see your wife. You said ever since the murder she has stayed with a friend. Let her stay there. We don't want any complications. The media will get this news eventually and when they do it's not gonna be pretty. Please stay under the radar. You have my number if you need anything."

The older man nodded his head, "Thanks."

I offered him a small smile, "Thank me when we win. Have a good Mr. Benjamin." I pat him on his shoulder then starting walking towards my car.

I laughed and brought the expensive champagne to my lips. Everyone was having a jolly time laughing about the cases that they've done for the past months. They were sharing jokes, eating cake and drinking wine, the perfect Partners' meeting.

Gideon made his way to me and gave me a small smile. "Can I speak to you in private?"

I returned his smile, "Of course Uncle."

He led me to his office and close the door behind him. He gestures for me to have a seat, so I did what I was told. He took a seat in his chair, a glass of champagne still in his hands.

"I've known you from the very first day you were born and you're a daughter to me ever since. I only want you to be happy."

I nodded and smile. "Thanks, Uncle. I'm happy." I didn't know exactly what type of speech he was going to give me now, but I knew I was in for one.

What did I do now to get scolding?

"I came by the courthouse today, you did a marvellous job although that prosecutor...what's his name again?" Gideon queried.

"Seth Parker," I answered way too quickly.

"Hmm...yes. Parker. He's something else, isn't he?" he stopped, taking a sip of his champagne. I started to feel a little uneasy why is he so interested in knowing about Seth?

"Let me tell you a story." He placed the now empty glass on his table. "When I was twenty-two, still unmarried, I wasn't as lucky as your father." He smiled then went on, "I had just finished law school with big plans ahead. I got a big case; a major was convicted for killing his wife. I was super happy at that time I met a woman named Amy. She was beautiful. Long red hair, grey eyes to die for. I think I fell for her the very first time I saw her." He laughed at the memory. It was weird for me since this was the first time, I've ever heard him talk about a woman that wasn't his wife. "Anyways we went out of a few dates. She managed to woo me and then one night we did the deed.

I couldn't help but laugh at his choice of words. He offered me a small smile and continued, "The next morning when I woke, she was gone." I let a gasp out of my mouth. I was ready to speak to him when he lifts his head to stop me, "And that wasn't even the worst part. The major's case was that day and all the information I had gathered was missing. I searched everywhere for them and I could find it. I started thinking I must have misplaced it or lost it. I had to get to the courtroom, so I left my apartment with nothing but my car and my keys. I didn't have the files for the case. I was still determined to make the best of that case even though I didn't have the information I needed. I went to the courthouse with my head high still ready to win the case. But what I saw in the courthouse gave me the biggest heartbreak ever, there she was over on the prosecutor side beside the lawyer. It was then I realize she played me. All she wanted was the files to win the case and she did win the case because I was too brokenhearted to do anything and I lost my job."

I looked at him not knowing exactly what to say. That was a terrible story.

What an evil woman!

"What I'm trying to say is that you can never trust a prosecutor. They are always the enemy. Always." He sighed. "Kari, I saw the way you looked and him and the way he looked at you. Now as your boss I can't tell you who to see or date or whatever you young people do these days but as you Uncle, I can tell you end it. In the end, he's going to end up hurting you and I don't want to be the one to wipe the tears away. Prosecutors will always be enemies to defence lawyer because they are on the opposite team. Nothing comes out it, just pure hatred and dislike. Please, I don't want to see you cry so end it. If not for me then for yourself. Along the way, you'll see that I was right. You'll find yourself a lovely man who will cherish you. I found your aunt and she's the most precious thing to me, she made me realize that I never loved Amy it was just Lust. You'll find that one person, Kari. You will find that one person who you can't live without and I assure you that it would be a prosecutor."

He offered a small smile, but I couldn't reply because all I could think about was his words.

He had fallen in love with a prosecutor and she broke his heart. He lost his job.

Prosecutors weren't to be trusted.

I shook my head, but Seth wasn't just a Prosecutor.

Gideon stood from his chair, "Think about what I said. Make the right decision." He walked out of his office leaving me to think.

What am I going to do?
